It is actually possible. One of my coworkers got a 2008 dodge for $850. I myself was lucky as well, I bought a 2002 Echo 3 years ago for $2000 and still didn't need to change any parts except for one -> It's almost at 300K Km now.

The co-worker obviously bought it from someone well known to him/her. I saw a vid on Youtube where a guy bought a post 2003 corolla off his cousin for 500 bucks. He even filmed the whole transaction to prove it's legit. And I'm priiitty sure nobody would sell a 2008 for 850 bucks to a random person. For god's sake, it's only a 3 year old car....

I wouldn't worry about high mileage on Hondas, Toyotas and Volvos. Those cars were meant to keep on running and running. That's specifically the reason why they're so popular.

That coworker bought it from a dealership. Car had a minor accident, but I don't know why it brought down the price as much as that since my Echo has 2 minor accidents and is still worth more than what I paid for it.

The rotors are thin and lipped, but I think the root problem is the master cylinder. I'm just going to go ahead and replace the rotors and master cylinder with OE parts. While I'm at it i'll flush that brake fluid out.

I just assist my normal braking by downshifting, so I can work with it untill I get paid.

Problem is, I shudder to think just how bad my pockets will bleed after buying OE Volkswagen parts....

What kind of car you have again Demby? Surely VW parts aren't too expensive in the UK?

Oh yeah nice, we don't have any of those older models in NZ I think, we have some 2003 onwards ones, mostly 2006 plus though.

I just drove by a Ferrari F50! I didn't get a picture, but hopefully when I drive by again it'll still be there.

Track event (2 days) down in Carolina Motorsports Park with the Type R community called ITR EXPO. Great track, I really liked it and really got the line down early on in the weekend. Last year (I didn't attend) many of the ITRs had race tape designs so I decided to give it shot (this was my first EXPO). Unfortunately, there wasn't much of that going on this year, but I did get many laughs (as well as strange looks on the highway during the 12hr drive down).

I was grabbing a cylinder at the junk yard a few days back on my off day, almost walked out with a crappy old used one that wouldn't be much of an improvement. As I moved toward the exit, I found a 94 with an exact match, brand new parts everywhere (somehow). Walk out with a brand new OE master cylinder for 30 bucks. Problem, Volkswagen?

Also "borrowed" several pieces they never bother checking for, I have a cap for my wiper fluid reservoir and that piece on the oil dipstick that Jettas seem to never have...

Everything went better than expected.

1.8T nevAr lose.

All joking aside, the 1.8T is a decent engine but super unreliable. 2.0L is slow but virtually bulletproof. But your best bet (if it HAD to be a VW car) would be a car with a 2.8 VR6.

lolno

I would never get a FWD car for performance, unless it was a celica or a CRX because they're cheap. I'd rather have a 1.9L diesel for my economy car, but maintaining that would be a bit harder and more expensive.

I can't get rid of my car until I get the money for something better, and even then I'll have to keep it because loves it so much for some god awful reason.

I see what you did there.

Celica would be one of the worst choices. If anything, find an SRT-4 that hasn't been beat on by some chav teen (good luck ;)) or go buy a GS-R Integra and spend ~$1000 on the Type R differential + labor. It'll do wonders on a track (I know, I've gone up against one. It's not fast, but the handling is pretty damn good for a GS-R).

^^ I wouldn't spend that much on labors. Cars listed on craigslist usually has all the work done for you and it's much cheaper too.

Celicas are great cars. I haven't gotten to drive one myself but the reviews are spot on. Who doesn't want a reliable sporty car

with a 30+ MPG?

hahaha paying for labor, nope.

Celica's are light, that's all I really care about and as long as it's not a 7th gen with that crappy Z engine i'll be happy.

Warning: Video has horrible music. Mute volume before viewing.

CRX: God's chariot.

Probably not stock seeing as those where I live seem to not have that much strenght, they're more annoying than anything as far as I'm concerned, seeing as most are driven by teenagers that are bad drivers (probably not like that everywhere but at least here it is like that).

Washed and waxed my car today.

For those of you that haven't seen it yet :shades:
