Saru Inc
This is a little less formal of a news article. As I'm sure all of you know of the car bomb that was found in Times Square, Saturday night. Well... They caught the guy. NEW YORK - Authorities arrested a U.S. citizen in connection with the failed bombing attempt in New York's Times Square as he tried to leave the country, Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday. Faisal Shahzad, 30, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. ET Monday night by Customs and Border Protection agents after he boarded an Emirates airlines flight to Dubai at New York's JFK airport, officials told NBC News. U.S. government officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Shahzad made his flight reservation on the way to the airport and paid for his ticket in cash. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36892505/ns/us_news-security/ And also there was a bomb type device in Pittsburgh, which I'm pretty sure they said this wasn't a bomb. But if anyone has any other theories of that, feel free to discuss in this topic. Also, Pakistan took responsibility for bomb. Do you guys think the claim holds any validity? Pakistan is always trying to look badass... (Note, DO NOT discuss whether or not Islam is a religion of peace etc, that's just too off-topic. Even for off-topic. Danqazmlp
All i know is that i heard the end of a news report last night which they said something along the lines of; 'it is unknown if this is related to a threat by extremists after an image of Muhammed was to be shown on the cartoon 'South Park'. And I'm sorry about how racist this is going to sound, but we all know who is going to be responsible (hint, it isn't Buddhists) Want to be my friend? Saru Inc
Thats not racist at all. *Hides from rocks* I mean, it's not like Taoists (or as you said, those angry violent Buddhists) blow up people all the time. Islam has had quite the rap sheet throughout the ages. But I've just broken my own rule >.< I think it was Islam, but I don't think Pakistan did it. Getting blown up by a bomb certainly is not. That's not my point: I'm not discussing suicide and depression, but random searches, racial profiling and pointless "security" measures created to keep people "safe." Rainy_Day
Shock horror. It's pathetic what people do just because they have a grievance with a country. Saru Inc
1995. Something more recent please. And yes, EVERY religion has bizarre bombers, and weird extremists (remember the old topic about the Christian woman who didn't feed her family, because she thought God would provide?) But if there could be a bar graph comparing Islam to other religions, it would excede the others by far. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Perakp
You can't discard history when condemning those who live today. What I mean to say is that we aren't getting anywhere with these blunt comments, but instead we should try to understand the reasons as to why the world is what it has become. - History of the religions, geopolitical shifts, natural resources etc etc, dating back hundreds/ thousands of years. There are (good?) reasons why those rogue/terrorist nations are not (yet) democratic, and why there are extremists and what not. Skeptical
Pakistan took responsibility for bomb. I thought the Pakistanian Taliban did...? Taking "responsibility" means very little: after all, they'd be quite willing to take credit for it if they though it would whip the media into a frenzy of coverage over them and their cause. I'm also under the understanding that they retracted their statement after it failed. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." Saru Inc
Yep I meant Taliban. However, nowadays the gov't and the Taliban are relatively the same thing. (Even if the gov't won't acknowledge it) I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Lenin64
Is it bad that I knew about the suicide bombers in Moscow back in March, but not this? I'm not even sure how that happened. Kimberly
Yep I meant Taliban. However, nowadays the gov't and the Taliban are relatively the same thing. (Even if the gov't won't acknowledge it) Unless you have proof that the Pakistani government is sanctioning the actions of the group of extremists I would say that's a very ignorant assumption indeed. The strange device in Pittsburgh was a pipe bomb that failed to go off. They had to divert the marathon route that went downtown because of it. My college had a group running to raise money for my Adviser's ovarian cancer treatments during this marathon, so it was a small shock when they switched things up like that. It would be somewhat shocking if this fellow who was responsible for the car bomb had just flown from Pittsburgh to Times Square...Seems unlikely. Like a terrorist attempting to maximize the, pardon the pun, terror. Conspiracies are more threatening than a single person acting alone.

You mean those subway bombings? Those were just further evidence of the truth: [bleep]es be crazy. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
michel555555
So no one has considered that the person who did this might have just been an angry american who lost his home to the banks and just wants pay back? Why does everyone shout "terrorist!" everytime a pin drops these days. [spoiler=click you know you wanna]Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!
