May 25, 201016 yr there are a lot of people that are too narrow minded to understand a simple thing, and I'll give a quick example (ignore the prices, they're not the real ones): player x says dbones are too expensive, they're 1k coins each, he thinks he should start killing green dragons to get his own dbones, this way he'll make profit from green dhides too! But this player is also an expert at making money in other ways (like fighting armadyl) so the idiot starts killing green dragons, and he thinks that he is making a huge difference, but in reality, he is losing money. by killing green dragons and selling dbones/hides he would make 100k coins a dayby going to armadyl he would make 1000k coins a day so by wasting time killing green dragons, he is actually losing 900k coins a day. why is he doing it? because "he is getting the items himself, instead of buying them, because they're expensive" but truth is, if he would focus on the method that he knows best at making money, then buy the expensive items, he would be making more of a profit than getting the expensive items himself --- this is an example of the stupidity of many players, in MANY situations. stop and think about it, is it worth getting the items yourself or is it better to get money your own way and buy that expensive item? go for the economic way and stop wasting time doing things that just aren't worth doing Goal: getting all skills to 99
May 25, 201016 yr But this player is also an expert at making money in other ways (like fighting armadyl)If this were the case I doubt he'd be collecting his own bones. Disregard females. Acquire currency.
May 25, 201016 yr I really don't understand why people rant about their frustrations about how other people play the game...

Ummmmmm.....................Not much to say. If you want to find me in Runescape, my name is not applyapple. It is vetoscadiva. Complain as you like about Jagex, but think about what they've done. How many MMORPG designers go around to creating as complex an in-game world as Jagex? They do need to get around to making a equipable knife, though. With everyone's complaining about updates, it's amzing that there isn't a forum topic on the fact that the chat box says "You can't reach that" (as opposed to "I can't reach that!").
May 25, 201016 yr If he doesn't get the dragon bones, who will? hence the point of DIY. Besides, Armadyl isn't a 100% chance of drop, dragon bones from green dragons ARE 100% and if your like me where you may have the stats for GWD but your luck is miserable, I'd rather take the option of 100% guaranteed success. Popoto.~<3
May 25, 201016 yr Other players are hindering themselves in a way that very few people care about and those players tend to calculate every single xp they get i saport PM me for fitocracy invite

May 25, 201016 yr Have you considered some of us likes to play the game the way we find it the most fun rather than most efficient?
May 25, 201016 yr It's a game, not a job where you're pressured to maintain as high a level of productivity as possible. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
May 25, 201016 yr Perhaps said person enjoys both the challenge and sense of achievement they get from being able to say "I collected all of (x) to (do y) myself!" Not everyone is out to do things the easiest/most cost effective way. If that were the case, no one would ever get 99 in anything in F2P. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...
May 25, 201016 yr I think some of you are missing his point. There's nothing wrong with deciding to do something "not totally efficient" because you want to do it yourself. As many have pointed out, this is a game, not a job. He's complaining about people who claim to be doing something efficiently when they aren't, and don't even understand why they aren't. More specifically, he's complaining about people who do not understand opportunity cost. May 25, 201016 yr You're right qeltar, but in the end, no one could give a [bleep] less if they're making 200k less per hour. The effort required is much higher. Plus DIY instead of using opportunity cost is a lot more fun and a lot less grindy. PM me for fitocracy invite

May 26, 201016 yr Author :o Once again I take off my hat to you, Qeltar. I didn't expect you of all people to reply (in the good way), and I'm happy that you were able to understand exactly what I mean unlike others *cough* littleboy *cough*. You are completly right, Qeltar, and I couldn't have said it better myself. Goal: getting all skills to 99
May 26, 201016 yr Sounds to me like someone doesn't want competition at the Green Dragon spots. that's what I was thinking XD well most of the competition in chaos tunnels come from bots and they don't really fall into the DIY category, more like the 'cheating A-holes' category

May 27, 201016 yr In response to OP's topic/rant, and skipping all the other posts in between. There seems to be a lot of narrow minded people who don't understand how some people like to play the game for fun. Usually the fast moneymakers are boring, click-intensive, and a grindfest. Alot of people don't enjoy PLAYING like that, so we decide to train a slower but more enjoyable way. Does that mean we're stupid and narrow minded? I don't think so.

Alot of people don't enjoy PLAYING like that, so we decide to train a slower but more enjoyable way. Does that mean we're stupid and narrow minded? I don't think so. Every one of you has pointed out that some people might enjoy doing it themselves...But, as Qeltar said, are missing the point of his rant. Player X is collecting dragon bones because he thinks its cheaper to collect the bones, when in reality he could make (theoretically) faster money at GW then by killing green dragons; he could then thus spend the money on dragon bones. And save time. In other words, this is a rant about people who don't understand opportunity cost, vs people who just don't give a [cabbage]. I understand where he's coming from. I just hope the OP understands DIY'ers as well. But from the posts here, if he didn't before, he probably does now. And yay acronyms! OFFTOPIC: My first thought on this was people who want to buy obscure items when it'd be faster to buy it themselves. I'm thinking of people standing in banks for 20 minutes trying to buy a redberry pie instead of making one themselves....lol. Oh, and at the above poster, I somehow get the feeling that killing Arma a lot of money would be more fun then killing greens...lol. But that WAS just an example. Squab unleashes Megiddo! More specifically, he's complaining about people who do not understand opportunity cost. The point about just playing a game still stands. Undoubtedly, he is behaving idiotically for thinking he'd be more efficiently doing things, but honestly - why are we even playing the game in the first place? For all you know, the mentioned person could be quite intelligent, but just wiped out after a hard day at school/work/whatever or he just feels like randomly playing the game/just playing the game for fun, not to attain a high level of efficiency. He might understand the principle of "opportunity cost" as you put it, but just feels too tired to think about such things. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing!
