Going for:

85 Mining

50 Dungeoneering

60 Runecrafting

99 Firemaking achieved 24th June 2010!

The guy who won had castle wars rank of 740 with 2755 score (I guess its games?)

Yup, 2,755 games of CW played. That's about 1,148 hours of doing nothing but CW. Obviously someone who doesn't care about CW and just wanted the membership.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Why cant Jagex do competitions like this for non combat skills.

I would love to see Jagex hold a who can get the most xp in rune crafting in one day competition. Winner gets a year of membership.

It's a nice idea but they probably did this to get extra memberships to promote new content, and also they don't want to encourage people to play all day.

There would be less skill involved in that than anything that could conceivably have to do with castle wars. 'how long can you run back and forth at zmi without going insane'

Also i don't see how it would be better, as phoenix odin would surely win the competition, and anyone <99 rc wouldn't stand a chance.

phoenix odin would loose if they did it for longer then a day cuz he'd hit 200m.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

The Murder21 got 280+ kills. Before SoL, Turmoil prayers, Arcane stream.. and the list goes on.

Dissapointed imo, expected 300/400+ with current armours and spells.

"We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape" Jagex 01/04/01 - 02/03/12

It was only held in world 15 (Aussie world, lag for EU/North America) and 166 (Low population) so basically only someone from aussie could have had any chance to win at it legit. Kind of a shame :/ I managed to get 69 as my max on 166 but since the population was so low it didn't matter much either way, still was a fun weekend.

PS - For all those who think the kill was too low, you had to go 20 minutes straight without dieing. That plays a great factor in limiting your kills.

He did it when nobody else was trying to do it.

So the guy who won didn't do it legitimatly?

 (Sets the tone!)

You and xpx should really get off his case. He obviously wasn't devaluing the achievement; He was saying that he knows someone who REALLY ("legitimately") as in, not lying about it, as I'm sure plenty of people did, got 188, which is SAD because he was so close to the actual winner - he could have been the one to win - it's sad because he was 6 (or 7, if he didn't reach it first) kills away from a year of membership ($60+) and a framed portrait ($??+)...

xpx: You seem to be bragging about being a level 138. That doesn't give you the right to jump down someone's throat for no reason.

So, for review!:

Legit = not lying or skewing their number, as some people did

Sad = disappointing because the person in question was that close to winning

Really shouldn't need a paragraph to explain a short sentence.

I don't even know how this was really an achievement at all. There are thousands of players with 94+ Magic, 90+ Defense, HP, Prayer, and Summoning in the high 90s might help a bit too. You don't need more than those and some good gear. Just go to the enemy base with Zuriel's top, staff, Statius's platelegs, Arcane shield/amulet (or even DFS or other decently high shield) and use a combination of either Blood and Ice or Blood and Miasmic Barrages.

It was far more of a lucky drawing with a little effort needed than any contest of skill.

The way squisher wrote it, it clearly assumes that the guy who won cheated(or that the legitimasy is in question) in some way. Remove the legit and he could be saying what you read out of it.

Because i'm 138 i can jump on someones throat? As dark aura assumes every 138 is a [rooster], why not? I just think the guy shouldn't be anonymosly(because he more than likely isn't reading this) flamed for achieving something great.

He was there on 166 on sunday and barraging with divine.

Not enough people playing though for him to have a chance.

Well, that and I was on the other team so there was no chance for anybody to play without dying.

He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. Lol

Except that, as I tried to explain, legit means "true" as well as "legal", and it can even be another world for "cool".

To jump down someone's throat means to attack them verbally. By now I'm assuming you're not a native English speaker or just aren't reading closely. Although I don't agree with Dark Aura's first statement about 138s or high levels in general, your reactions on this thread haven't done much to abolish its legitimacy (truth, in this sense :)).

The player who won the contest has become something similar to a celebrity, which was bound to happen if they listed the player's name on the front page, which they basically did. Fair or not, these kinds of comments and judgments will always occur when the majority focus is on a particular individual. It happens to real-life celebrities all of the time, and it happens to those on the front pages of the Hiscores, and always has. The price of being widely known is to be widely criticized.

As dark aura assumes every 138 is a [rooster]

If I assumed EVERY 138 was that, I'd be missing about 1/4 of my friends list. Get off your high horse, Im merely annoyed because Castle Wars is a CTF based game, not TDM which Jagex seem to have forgot, thus there was no skill involved with the actual Mini-Game, it was just a case of who kills who.

You could have ranted about that anywhere but here, but i just don't see how the winner is responsible for the competition being set up as it was. Anyway, it is for jagex to decide how they arrange their ''bonus'' games, and the fact that it was kills inside cw doesn't change much. Being arrogant doesn't help your cause, and it's jagex you should argue with(argue, since there is no reason to be annoyed, it is, after all, a bonus, be happy with what you have).

Because then they'd have to sift through the tons and tons of people who used auto's (despite Jagex's ability at autoer-tracking, there will still be plenty of idiots with the guts to do it anyway) to raise the skill. At least for combat, you're gonna have to have a hell of an auto program to fight for you...

And Aura, it didn't seem like you were "merely" ranting about the game and competition, you actually said you thought that a wealthy 138 didnt deserve it as much as a true castle wars fan, which was already disproven by his high minigame rankings. Ranked 9 in duel tourneys, top 500 in MA, top 1k in cwars, and top 5k in BH rogues, this guy knows how to play minigames and how to kill people. But you were probably right that he was rich: ranked 550 in mage without a very good rc. But I don't see why he wasn't a good enough candidate for a "lover of the minigame".

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.
