Someone asked if I could delay the Mongol invasion until after the next budget. I thought it would be more fun if it was determined by chance. :P

Due to some mishaps, the French call back their entire army from Scandinavia, as I recall it was

 

5,000 archers

5,000 pikemen

5,000 swordmen

3,000 spearmen

5,000 blood knights

3,000 peasents

 

Now I now some of them are dead, but it is impossible to work out, so I'm going to take what I feel is a reasonable amount and Rocco can have w/e is left.

2000 Pikemen

2500 Archers

1700 Swordmen

250 Spearmen

500 Peasents

3500 Knights

 

 

If they can't get home, they're instructed not to fight for HRE or anyone, and if HRE begins to turn on them, don't hesitate to ally themselves with Scandinavia.

 

Maybe next time you'll send your troops where you previously committed them before deciding to go gallivanting off on some silly mission in Scandinavia.

Roughly. Give or take a few thousand. Of course it doesn't account for siege weapons or ships, or any allies that they might pick up in Europe, like the Turkish tribes.

lol. anyways, count on my SB's to assist, and mywell developed seige weaponry.

Send diplomats to meet the tribes immediately. If we can't get them to come to our side, we can at least stop them going to theirs. All cities are hoarding supplies in case of a seige.

Diplomats are sent to byzantium to ask for help on a unified front against the mongols.

The Turks won't ally with European powers, they're Muslims. The only way they'd ally is if we gave them Greece & Constantinople, which NO. [bleep] them.

The tribes state that if Europe can create a battle line in their tribal area, instead of back in central Europe, then they will help with their calvery archers, which are worse than the Mongols and the actual Turks, but they're still better than anything from Europe.

 

Also, the Fatamid Caliphate (Egypt) looks poised to help if the Mongols start coming down their way.

They could probaly match the weakest Mongolian horse archers, and be in limited quantity. Or you could arm them with better armor to counteract that and use less skilled people, making it cost 900-1000.

eh... you could jsut use my SB's. good for enemy cavalry charges, they are.

Historically no effective counter was found for horse archers.

 

And Rocco, you can have all the pikemen in the world and you'd still lose, the Mongols would just sit back and pump arrows into the pikemen.

the fact that my SB's can shoot down a horse, thus casuing them to all run over and/or trip over the fallen one wont help? that and the fact thy can throw spears at stuff?

I believe I may have a short term solution, though it means I have to reveal my unique unit, which I am loathe to do so.

Well, I have the close combat aspect covered with my Hlaupari. If you can take care of ranged combat, Earth, all we need are some support and tank troops, as well as something to negate the Mongol siege weaponry.

i can ddo that with the SBS.. and my own seige. the old adage " if all else fails, use fire!" wsorks well for that.

Italia recognizes the need to help with the mongol defence, but has more important things at hand. The Lords of the Seat of Seven have created two military schools in Italia; we plan to have a standing army ready to conquer or defend at any time. The cost of these schools is 500,000 gold each.

 

Meanwhile, Italian unity has been a major issue in Italia. Diplomats have been sent to the southern Italian states to discuss the issue.

 

Angolism has been dropped as the official state religion, replaced again by Catholicism.
