Icelandic Invasion of France

 

It was the best of times for Europe and by extension, the World (except for the Muslims). Trade flourished in the lull of fighting between the Mongols and the Europeans. The Muslims had been dealt a stinging blow, and would pose little threat to the nations of Europe. It was the worst of times for France. After being crushed in the recent conflict with Spain, its lands were once again trampled by an invading force: the Icelandic Hlaupari. This small raiding group of a thousand soldiers rode southward along the French coast, pillaging for the fun of it. They were under orders to cause maximum damage, and that involved the worst atrocities imaginable. At every village, the raiders left houses burning, castrated men, drowned children, and ravaged women.

 

Livestock were slaughtered and left to rot, while the fields were destroyed. Finally, they reached their target, the castle on the French border with Spain, and began their siege.
