Grinding bones

So, after seeing all the responses telling me i should get 70 prayer, i decided to get it by doing the ecto. Yes, i know all the arguments about you can make back the extra money with the time saved, but im not really the kind of guy who likes that, i just go cheap from the beginning. Anyway, here is my problem. The slime gathering is all fine, but is there a faster way to grind the bones? Currently im using the ectophile to tele there, grind the 13 bones, then tele to cw to bank. Is there a way to get more than 13 bones ground per trip?

Put 4 bones in inventory

Put 22 pots in inventory

 

Grind 4 bones, withdraw 4 bones, repeat.

It'll be faster. Withdrawing from the tort doesn't take much time at all.

Yup, you can set the default option for your tortoise to "take-from" and I think you will be able to do that while you're grinding, no interruption of the grinding animation.

That sounds like a great idea...but i just remembered i have to do my summer reading stuff for english. I guess ill try to multitask, but we will see how it goes...thanks for the advice guys!

depending on how much money you make you should consider using frost dragon bones vs dragon bones. Since you are doing ecto, which has the highest prayer multiplier it might be best to do frost dragon...

NO one did, but i have read it before, and i really dont feel like finding one or building my own for 9m...so the extra time is worth it.

Finding one is pretty easy on W31, the house party room. It really is the best way to train prayer.

 

The main advantage I could see with ecto is if you want a slightly more AFKable means of training.

 

Or wanted A LOT of ectotokens to buy "the stuff" for brewing.

^ you get the stuff from trouble brewing. Ectotokens are for buying ale yeast, but you can buy for 25gp in Keldagrim so really no point.

But yeah, there's not much point to ectotokens other than the yeast iirc. They should really make those bolt racks buyable with them.

Don't forget to choose the "x" option quantity when grinding bones with a tortoise and entering a number higher than the amount of bones you have so that it doesn't interrupt you when you left-click "take from B.O.B".

So yeah, if you don't value your time at all, frost dragon bones are the least efficient of them, but if you do, they are the most efficient. When grinding bones(as the op is doing) he would be saving a massive amount of time by using better bones, but he probably has no idea what efficiency is.

Are you kidding? Ectoing is the least amusing activity in runescape and anyone who realistically enjoys it over not doing it(gilded altar is 1500% faster) is lying. Your argument would hold true for most borderline efficiency arguments, but this guy is essentially killing edgeville men at maxed melee.

I know perfectly well what efficiency is thank you very much. Know what something is and actually caring are two different matters all together. We all have different play styles, and mine happens to be less efficient than most. Do I care? Not really. I like to be able to do other things while playing rs. If i cared about efficiency at all, i wouldnt be doing the ecto. But, as it is, I dont care, because i am working on school work and writing a book. So please, no flaming.

Broski, using a gilded altar is pretty afkable too. While going from 54-75 (I wanted to use the Blood Runs Deep reward), I was able to write about 1/2 my Slayer guide.

If you value afk-ability, efficiency, and achieving your goal faster, gilded altar is honestly the way to go. Back before gilded altars (yes, there was a time), ecto was pretty much all you could do for prayer. I spent hours and HOURS grinding bones to get 70 prayer. It sucked. For your sanity, I suggest against it. If you don't want the con lvls (which are totally worth it), you could use somebody else's house. It saves so much time, is more afk-able, and efficient. Give it a thought. In whichever you choose, be sure to use your best BOB.

Gilded altar is equally afk as an average for the same amount of time, and much, much more afk if you factor in only training for 1/15 of the time. You are actually paying the game to waste your time, but it's not really my business, and saying that you don't know what efficiency is effectively true as to what you are doing with your time.
