vox1st
I was not exempt from being excited about the treasure trails update. It is about time they made it better and worth the time put into it a little more. Many people were looking at what Jagex said about a garunteed trail specific item every time. People drooled over getting that great item, be it a stole or gilded armor. I however knew that instead, we would see no increase in the frequency of those such items, but instead get spammed with purple sweets, fire lighters, and the new crummy meercat items and a few of the special arrows. Despite that we got new items to re-energize the scrolls. I am happy, don't get me wrong, I just knew that is how it would be. I expect prices on items to rise after people tried to dump items in anticipation of the update. What do you think? Am I just a quack, or am I just crazy enough to be right? SirIzenhime
about the 100% TT item everytime... well duh....Jagex would have to be [developmentally delayed]ed to give us the high value items every time. I honestly question the intellect of someone who seriously thought getting a Unique TT item everytime meant getting Trimmed armor every time. If they had done that, the prices of said items would crash horribly, making clues even less worth doing, since the rewards would be at such a low value Fisher/Woodcut------Me-----Miner/crafter----Stabber----Leecher ^Golvellius must be so proud^
Riptide Mage
It doesn't help that even though there is supposed to be a "guaranteed" treasure trail item, there is more than enough proof this is not occurring every time. You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
strilmus
To be fair, the god bows sound really, really dangerous but we'll see how that turns out. Also some of those teleports have been wanted for a long time, and we can sell firelighters now so we're not stuck with them forever. In the meanwhile try to enjoy all the new costume gear and biscuits. :P
SirIzenhime
can you use any type of arrow with the god bows? if you can only use the god arrows, I find it hard to believe that 11 range strength will be a threat. Aiel
can you use any type of arrow with the god bows? if you can only use the god arrows, I find it hard to believe that 11 range strength will be a threat.iit increases to ~+70 as your range level goes up. Range_This11
It just threw a bunch more junk into the game, really. Treasure Trails are still a waste of time. strilmus
Oddly enough the god bows are capable of firing everything up to dragon.
anonymouse_
It just threw a bunch more junk into the game, really. Treasure Trails are still a waste of time.I agree with this. I never bothered doing them before and this update certainly won't change that. Possibly the only useful items will be the bows, but judging by the usefulness of the other new TT items, they'll be longbow/comp speed
ForsakenMage
I'm screenshotting every reward of level 1 clue scrolls I'm getting so far... So far in terms of decent items (out of 23 clue scrolls done so far), I've gotten Saradomin, Zamorak, and Guthix Arrows; Black Kite Shield (t), Red Elegant Pants, and Blue Elegant Pants. :P I've gotten the biscuits and whatnot as well.. Most humiliating reward so far: 2 Purple Sweets and random number of elemental runes. Adventurer's Log || YouTube || Facebook || Tip.it Times Work || Wanna Join the Editorial Panel?Maxed Out 01 October 2012 PDT
strilmus
Considering the sara and guthix bow specials heal you and the zammy one hits double damage, I think they could be useful in the right situations. Plus they all have prayer bonuses. As for bad rewards, there was that guy who just got a small pile of earth runes. He is the most pitiable of all. Blutters
I had guessed the same thing as you - I mean, getting a really neat or expensive item everytime would be overkill and basically ruin the reason those items were expensive or unique in the first place. However I personally am mostly not let down by this update. I wanted trimmed Fury and Dragon, and I got trimmed Fury and Dragon. And whether you want to believe me or not, I predicted that they would come out as they did - as add-on pieces, to preserve the originals' statuses. What I am "let down" by, if anything much at all, is the lack of new unique hats. Masks are not hats! And even if they look fairly neat in their own right, they aren't worthy of being the new "big-ticket item". I was also expecting more than one TT exclusive familiar, but from what I've heard, it's actually useful while solving TTs, so no complaint there. The fact that just about all of the new rewards are rehashes but harder to get still is just a bit of a buzzkill, and yet I was looking forward to a WHITE CAVALIER. - That's the only "real" letdown for me. strilmus
Interesting tidbit: the orb of oculus actually renders complete face models for anybody wearing the new masks, so now suddenly you've got these strange things like noses, mouths, and eyes with pupils on your face. The meerkats do sound useful, and also the scroll allows you to pluck boxes without setting off some random drunken wizard with a poisoned dragon dagger. lordkafei
I'd rather see more infrequent scrolls with better rewards than more of the same rune junk & firelighters 2.0. But I have Trail Fever like everyone else, and I find myself leaving in the middle of slayer tasks to run clues. However, it won't take long for the shine to wear off these and for me to bank a clue, like I did before. I'm going to agree with you 100% on all of that. But these days even when I here about really promising updates, this Treasure trail one for example, I don't really get over excited, why? Simply because these days JaGex is proving that it can't seem to get them right, its one disappointment after another. Hopefully this changes soon. Sir_Kurity
Everyone knew they wouldnt be giving you robin hood hats for every clue, but we expected a little more than a few crappy firelighters each time, despite the fact that many people have still gotten no TT specific rewards... Matok
I wasn't at all disappointedYep, neither was i, loved treasure trailing before the update and still enjoy it.The only thing that bugs me is this vague statement:Also, the more difficult your clue, the greater your rewardDone 3 level 3 clues yesterday and didn't see any evidence to back it up.They could have been more clear about what they consider to be "difficult" tresasure trail.Number of steps? emotes clues? coordinates? wilderness clues ? Sylpheed
Im not dissapointed at all, In fact, the content and structure of the update is almost exactly how I expected it to be. You have to be reasonable and realise, like a lot of others have said, that this update wasn't going to give you some super expensive rare trail item every time. I also really can't understand why people were expecting super uber game breaking items of doom, these are [bleep]ing trail rewards not drops from a boss monster. I really like how they updated the trails, sure, a lot of the rewards are just reskins of existing rewards but they are all things that players have wanted for a long time. The only thing that sucks is the fact that lvl 4 clues don't drop from TD's >=(
Strta
I think you're absolutely right. I would really have liked to see more "good" rewards, such as robin hoods and gilded armour, just to name a few, come as a guaranteed reward. And not a few crummy Guthix arrows which disappear on impact. I believe there's probably a special effect when used with the matching god bow, but I really don't see a point in wasting 400 coins on an arrow when I could buy a blood or death rune for that same amount of money and hit higher. Just one of my gripes. Got to say that the prayer books are cool though  Always wanted a purple one lol Huge thanks to Eval Riz for the signature! onedaysoon
I wasn't at all disappointed Me too. What on earth are you guys talking about? The treasure trails are far more interesting and worthwhile now. While the actual process of the trail is possibly a lot funner now, the rewards are not at all what JaGex said they would be lol. Thats what we're saying. Also a lot of the new rewards just flat out suck.
