August 25, 201015 yr How does being an NFL coach stop you from being a redneck? You'd have to be pretty educated to be an NFL coach. Redneck implies ignorance. "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."Abraham Lincoln
August 25, 201015 yr No, thats you buying into the stereotype. The term Redneck comes from farmers working outside all day, how that implies ignorance is beyond me. Infact your view on "rednecks" is pretty ignorant honestly. Its views like yours that got it twisted to begin with.

I've worked on a farm, I've planted a garden and can kill small animals like deer with bows.I despise the word redneck. It's used at least around here in a demeaning, offensive manner. Redneck here may as well mean retard, simpleton or anyone else who can't read or write or is inbred. The Op's use of the word, to me, was using that stereotype I hate. August 25, 201015 yr This is hilarious. Where I live, people (I'm talking people who were originally preps and skaters) intentionally try to become "rednecks" because they think it's cool. That reporter's job, believe it or not, is to represent the radio station they work for. That radio station backs the Razorbacks 100%. There's no room left to support the Gators. So to wear a Gators hat definitely shows that you want the Gators to win the season? This is the only reason people wear clothing?
August 25, 201015 yr You clearly underestimated two things: 1. Many, many Americans are ridiculously huge football fans2. Many, many Americans are ridiculously stupid+9001 to 2. August 25, 201015 yr So to wear a Gators hat definitely shows that you want the Gators to win the season? This is the only reason people wear clothing?Sports clothing, yes. You wear clothing with sports team logos to show support for that team, like you wear a shirt with a band's logo to show you like that band. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr

I also remember wearing a Steelers jacket because it was cold and that was the only jacket I could find. However, I don't really care whether Steelers win or lose.
August 26, 201015 yr That's well and good. But when you also represent the "RAVENS 24/7 WOOT WOOT" (ravens are the Steeler's rivals for non football people) radio station and walk around in a Steeler's jacket, you're not going to keep your job.Especially if it keeps you from getting the interview you were hired to do done. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
August 26, 201015 yr Especially if it keeps you from getting the interview you were hired to do done. The hat was what kept her from doing her job? I'm pretty sure that was all on the coach's redneckery. :) That's well and good. But when you also represent the "RAVENS 24/7 WOOT WOOT" (ravens are the Steeler's rivals for non football people) radio station and walk around in a Steeler's jacket, you're not going to keep your job. I'm aware of the repercussions you must face in today's society. However, I'm saying that this shouldn't be the case. No matter what we wear, we're still subject to be judged based solely on the clothes. We can't walk around naked. Even if we could "that would be making a statement". My proposition might be a little too progressive for society to handle lol, but I just think it's silly to correlate every accessory we wear with one specific message/statement. "That person wears Pantera. He must love their music!" This is flawed logic. There are many other reasons for wearing clothing than to make a statement.
August 26, 201015 yr I find 1 word describes this: Stupid. Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.-Random Youtuber
August 26, 201015 yr Especially if it keeps you from getting the interview you were hired to do done. The hat was what kept her from doing her job? I'm pretty sure that was all on the coach's redneckery. :)Obvious troll? I will go with the unlikely option that you are being serious. What if you were American soldier and decided to wear a turban? Then there would be absolutely nothing wrong? Want to be my friend? Look under my name to the left<<< and click the 'Add as friend' button!Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

Then there would be absolutely nothing wrong?Except that you are wearing a hat that shows support for people you're supposed to be killing? How have we gone from people taking sports support much too seriously to people using blind stereotypes? A turban in no way shows support for terrorists. With clothing you have a choice a majority of the time. With religious attire like a turban, you have very little choice. Muslims are not all terrorists, much like somebody who wears a teams T-shirt are not a supporter of that team. For example, I know a person who buys sports kits as souvenirs when his team plays at their stadiums. If he wears those kits, he is not a supporter of them, he is still a supporter of his team. It is a foolish assumption if you are going to persecute somebody over something which you do not know for certain. Want to be my friend? August 26, 201015 yr Yes but this reporter is supposed to be representing a station that supports the Razorbacks 100%. She isn't representing the Razorbacks. She obviously deserved to be fired. She wasn't not supporting the Razorbacks. she wore a hat that she had with her to keep her hair dry. She didn't shout at the top of her voice "Razorbacks suck!". She wore clothes that the situation called for. It was the coaches arse'ness (not a word but it works) that made the situation. Want to be my friend? Like I said before, there are some incredibly stupid football fans in America. I know a guy who got the hell beat out of him for wearing a Cowboys jersey in Philadelphia.I'm fairly sure if (such a thing exists) a River Plate radio station's reporter wore a Boca Juniors he/she will be fired too. It's not just an American thing, just a world-wide stupidity thing. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
August 26, 201015 yr "That person wears Pantera. He must love their music!" This is flawed logic. There are many other reasons for wearing clothing than to make a statement.Perhaps it's different here then. Where I am there are a number of people who take the 49ers/Raiders rivalry pretty seriously. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr

August 26, 201015 yr was her name elaine? i bet no one gets it lol I lol'd. Company policy is company policy. Remember that this is a private organization and not a public organization. That is true. It is exactly like a work uniform. But I still don't understand why people are stupidly fanatic beyond a friendly rivalry. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
August 26, 201015 yr People in Massachusetts get shunned if they wear anything Yankee's (i shun with them). The Yankee's Red Sox rivalry is one of the oldest rivalries in sports though. I remember getting shunned for wearing a Donavan McNabb jersey to school the day before the Eagles and Patriots went to the super bowl. I got razzed so bad.
August 27, 201015 yr If they support the Razorbacks 100%, why did they hire a Florida Alum in the first place? I believe the radio station to be in the wrong, but thats how it is. Some of you should read this....it explains it well. http://www.southernpigskin.com/index.php/site/down_here/ Its a 10 part series too, so feel free to read them all. Some people will just never understand.
