Saru Inc
Subtopic; What do you normally eat anyways? Pasta? Is there something wrong with copious amounts of pasta? Personally, I eat more of that than meat, I think... It's bad for you... Again, this might sound weird, bnut I think I'd really a enjoy a very heavy vegetarian lifestyle, but I still *would like * some meat. Like a huge bowl of salad, with maybe some sirloin cubes. I could easily go 4 days or so without meat. But I just can't feel as full unless I have the dead meat of our animal slaves resting inside me. You can start now. Nothing's stopping you. Go for 'Meatless mondays' etc. Lol I know. The problem is, here is my average schedule:MonKick boxing 6:45 am -8:20am Computer class 9am -11am Philosophy 1115 am -1220 pmWork 1pm (its a 30 minute drive from school)-midnight Thats for mon/wed/fri. Thurs and tues I work even more to try and scrape by with my salary. While I perfectly understand it can be just as cheap and easy to eat vegetarian, I am forced to eat fast food, on the go. In the mornings, the 40 minutes I drive home (10 minute drive) shower, and cut up 2 apples with some lime juice *so delicious* but that's the extent of it. I don't have time to eat a salad, I swear when I say every single second counts. I literally shove down a 2$ taco meal at taco bell, or thee 3$ value meal at wendys. Also, I just don't feel full eating vegetarian. I can't explain it *most likely it's more mental than physical* I can eat lbs and lbs and lbs of salad, etc. But with no meat I'm like "ARGHHH@" I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Personally, I eat more of that than meat, I think... The only thing wrong with lots of pasta (My favorite item to include in any dish mind you!) is the carbs. Carbs are frustrating!! Try to switch your pasta though to mix it up a bit. Try some wholemeal pasta, or some Mixed vegetable pasta! Mixed in with a simple white sauce and a bowl of fresh veggies its great! Serpent Eye
Why would Vegetarians want to eat fake meat products anyway? Doesn't that defeat some of the purpose? HmmNot in the slightest. I didn't stop eating meat because I didn't like the taste of it. Everyone I know loves to get a great burger-and-fry every once in a while, and it's no different for me. Of course, I can't go out and buy an actual burger because that would defeat the purpose. So instead, I have to go and buy a veggie-patty or soy burger. Skeptical
Men should not eat soy.Vegetarian does not automatically = soy. :thumbdown:And saying that there is any specific food men shouldn't eat is ridiculous. - Gynecomastia (man boobs)- Decrease in libido- Mood swings- Weight gain (particularly around the waist)- Decreased sperm count- Erectile dysfunction And that's just the start. Phytoestrogens are evil for men, but beneficial for women (at least in moderate quantities). My problem is that the majority of vegetarians tend to replace real meat (not including McDonald's burgers and hotdogs) with crap like soy "protein" and then insist that requiring supplements is not the sign of an unhealthy diet. Alg
4000 calories? Are you a body builder or a fatty?Probably understandable if he's very active. Runners, for example, are supposed to get a lot of carbs, I think, and chances are he's healthier than the guy that eats 3,000 calories daily and sits around on his ass at the computer for 13 hours. If he's an athlete he's most likely going to use them. I don't know this stuff for sure, I'm no medical expert. EarthySun
I have no problem with vegetarianism it itself... in fact, I find the concept fine. However, people have differing reasons for it, and it turns out that I just plain hate most vegetarians. My friend EJ was a vegetarian because that's how his dad raised him, but he ate meat during Thanksgiving or whatever (his dad was fine with it). With that one friend as the exception, all other vegetarians that I've met, I've hated. For instance, there's a girl in my class who wouldn't eat the pizza from our school (ordered from Papa John's, not school-made) because it had pepperoni on it. I asked why, and she said she was a vegetarian and couldn't even take the meat off and eat it, nor could she wipe off the meat-juice with a napkin or anything of the sort. She says she's a vegetarian because whenever she eats meat, she "sees the face of the animal that died". -.- So, basically Earthysun is Jesus's only son. Are you a body builder or a fatty?[/hide] There's pictures on the RL pictures area, but this one is from July when I went hiking in the mountains all day: [hide][/hide] I'm not a bodybuilder, but I do lift weights and I do workout. I lift three days a week (biceps/triceps Monday, legs/abs Wednesday, shoulders/chest/back Friday), workout 6 days a week. I need 3,000 a day just to live (assuming I didn't workout). I just got back from the gym, actually, and before I went I ate approximately 1/2 a pound of pasta (630 calories) at around 3:20, and when I left at 5:20 I felt like I was going to faint because of how hungry I was (I take the bus so I was only there for around an hour and 20 minutes). Got back at like 6:00 (went to the food store), and drank a 1,300 calorie protein shake. So that's 2,000 calories right there. If you eat small and often, your body will get so used to it that you'll build a strong metabolism and burn your calories properly rather than letting them sit. magekillr
There is no way in hell you need that much protein. If you're building muscle you need 0.75 to 1 g of protein per pound of body weight. I rarely hit 200 grams per day, the average is 150. I weigh 160 pounds. In any case, that amount of protein isn't even manufactured, it's just how much I take in with my regular diet (because I eat a lot of beans). Skeptical
As long as you're working out seriously, you can take take up to a gram per pound of body weight, but there is a cap, although I can't remember it. At my work, a lot of my coworkers order in pizza sometimes, and they'll say to me, "We got pepperoni, but you can have some if you want," assuming that I would be fine with removing the meat or fat. I would never, ever pick off pepperoni from a pizza, mop up the juice, and then turn around and eat it. That's like asking a vegetarian to drink a cup of chicken broth, just because it technically doesn't have meat in it. And for what it's worth, while your friend EJ's reason is perfectly valid, I find that Random Girl's reasoning for being a vegetarian is far more honorable and respectable. Some people just can't take it into their system, some people just think it's the morally right thing to do. What I said earlier applies better to the latter.
