Shadiochao
I haven't had any fake Jagex emails yet, but I am getting the same type of thing from Blizzard Entertainment about WoW. I've never been on anything WoW-related though so I'm kind of interested in how these people are getting email addresses.

RSBDavid
Its fun if the person sending the scam email is an amateur. You can always ping his host, get the ip, search for the IP, and even perform a whois and get their name and address. Then call them through skype saying you are a international cyber cirme agent for the ICCD and you are sending in a few agents to grab him after he was reported for scamming RS accounts. The kid will crap bricks. I have one email which contains legit wow and runescape emails and I always have a spare which I use for sites and forums. I have never been email hacked or phished. bigtrev8
I recived 3 of the emails today, so I searched for it on here wondering if simply opening the email would get me hacked. Thankfully what I see said I'm still safe as I didn't click on the link. I would be devisated if I lost my acc. ~Big Trev

pal2002
You know, the 1st email is fun - but now 50+ phishing emails later from different scammers in like 3 months - this really does get annoying. Both of my email providers are actually really good in putting those emails right to spam now but FFS when will this [cabbage] end? Remember all this happened when Jagex brought back free trade because they had such great control over cheating and scamming, and RWT situation. Jagex needs to eat some [cabbages]. pal2002
Well the legit newsletters from Jagex automatically end up in the spam pile now thanks to the phish emails. So did those emails inviting to beta 8realms. Shows the effect of the cheating epidemic outside just gameplay and corporate revenue... Monk
Pretty much. I'm sure Jagex would send those types of messages through the inbox on site, not by e-mail. [spoiler=Quotes]Goddammit Monk, stop being so full of win.I am Monk's [bleep]
Tim
\"0369.t35.com\" I think that's a blatant obvious scam there. WolfieMario
Funny thing, just today I got a phishing email very similar to that... Except it was for WoW account selling, not RS rwt, and I've never even played WoW... mugglle
New scam email; This was NOT an amateur. Screenshot of SCAM email: Now I will show 2 legitimate emails I find it alarming that the scam email apparently came from Jagex itself. The email sent me (on my Evo, so I expected it) to a site that looks like the simplified login page (but still had the login via facebook etc. it looked extremely legit) the only thing I caught was when my phone reloads, it shows the address bar, so I saw that it wasnt a runescape site and canceled the loading page. As far as Im aware they never got the password, but as a precaution I had to change my password anyway. This is the second time in a week; the first was on the runescape facebook page. At the time I had thought that someone just changed their avatar and name to match (they made a post about another round of mods being selected and an application link, again quite convincing.) ; Now I'm not so uncertain if there's a Jagex Mole. I got another email that had an identical picture layout but different address ([email protected] or something like that) about a "Classic beta" allowing everyone to play the classic game with a few adjustments to models that were graphically glitched. The button wasn't linked to anything in that and now I wonder if that wasn't a scam fail too... The T&C, custoner support and contact us emails at the bottom are all legitimate as well. I've already reported the site and email to jagex. So now I dont know how to feel... betrayed? im angry for sure... I feel stupid for almost being scammed again within a week.. thats a noob thing to have happen... I've played for 5 years... Guh >.< http://www.draynor.net/anim/apsitively.gif
The Observer
That does look legitimate. It could have fooled me as well. Jagex should stop having those things altogether in emails like they did before. Just use it for password recoveries and such. If you really need to find out about updates, just view the RuneScape homepage.

Having constant reminders in a place one checks frequently will encourage participation on almost a subconscious level. Unfortunately it also opens the doors for scams. has anyone caught anything I missed that makes it fake? http://www.draynor.net/anim/apsitively.gif

mugglle
I think you accidentally double posted. :P I may have.. i tried to hit edit but I might have quoted 'o.O I added a bit on at the end of the second post; Yes the wording seemed slightly awkward, but it only just caught my attention while i read it and that was fleeting.. other than that it seems legitimate... *epiphany* I think I figured out how they did it. Nope.. got close but it still requires server login; They could have used this if they hacked a jagex server. (I wont go into detail but if you know much about computers or email its not hard to guess) they made a mistake when they sent it from "Runescape" instead of "Jagex Ltd" with that address. http://www.draynor.net/anim/apsitively.gif
