Violence

Featured Replies

Now i don't have a problem with Good Movies, infact i love movies, when i'm at home, thats all i do is watch movies. But whenever i decide to have a kid, (Probably never) I don't want him exposed to this stuff. Like Kill Bill, Great Movie, Great Actors, Actresses, but way way to violent, Saw, Swordfish, Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, The shining, So on and so on... but yeah, don't you guys think that The violence in todays Society is a bit much?

i'm just pondering, you guys can throw in whatever you want

Personally, I love violent movies. I will watch ANYTHING as long as it is violent.

When I have children, I will work hard early in their lives to teach them the difference between reality and the fiction of movies and video games. Once I'm sure they can differentiate between the two, I'll let them watch whatever they want to.

You like and appreciate the movie without the violence getting to you now because you are older.

Just wait for your kids to get older before they see them. Its way we have ratings. :P

Yes true, luckily i don't have any kids (THANK GOD), the Violence in the media is sickening, i just think it influences society... Eitherway i don't know what i'm talking about and i am going to get a hot cup of java and program so more

Desensatize your kids early. At least that's my plan.

I don't know, when I was little I watched movies like Rambo and Terminator and so, they were pretty violant, but there is a difference with those kind of movies and movies like Saw.

It's a pretty delicate subject, and the line between violance and non-violance is sometimes pretty blurry.

It has been already accepted by society...

Much like drugs, sex and other social taboos.

I don't think it is too much, no. I think that a lot of it is cheap, but I don't have a problem with it.

It really depends who's watching it: some people can watch anything and not be affected adversely; others watch things and go out and kill people. The thing is, (I think) those people would crack sometime in life anyway. There is no way (I don't think) that any sane person will see a film and, because there is violence in it, assume this is OK for real life.

Generally (now that I'm an adult and can watch what I please) I agree with age classifications, at least when it comes to levels of violence. What I do not agree with is the way swearwords, sex and all sorts of things like that are slipping into pg films. My reasoning is (however right or wrong) that seeing someone being shot won't make a kid go out and shoot someone; hearing a swear word will make them use it, however, or at least draw their attention to it.

Strangely, I don't have a problem with people using swear words. However, I think kids find it (forgive me) "cool" to do something which isn't allowed; ergo they will tend to over-do it. I don't have a problem with someone swearing when they get in a bad mood, or hit their thumb with a hammer or something, but when people use swear words to fill the gaps in their sentences I think it has gone too far.

Anyway, I don't want to get this too off topic, so back to violence. I just don't see what is wrong with film violence. For the very young, maybe it's not good, but for anyone with any proper sort of a mind, I don't see how it could affect them.

I won't. I will get him/her to watch quality movies, and quality movies sometimes contain violence. I'd rather have him/her to see some violent pictures so that he/she can develop a full good taste than sensor his/her life and that he/she ends up having a bad taste. Of course I won't show him movies like Itchie the Killer (sp?) when he/she is five years old.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Disney movies ftw.

I'll make the little guy/girl cry with Lion King, just as I remember happening to me

Would I show violent movies? Depends, is it a girl or a guy? If it's a girl, then no, she's gotta be a bit older til I let her watch and if it's a guy, I don't know.. probably after 9 or so, I can show mild violent movies.

The thing is that violence affects them alot more at an early age - trying to desensitize them will not only desensitize them to violence on a screen, it will also desensitize them to violence inflicted on others in real life, and that's not a good thing.

I'd wait until my children are older before showing them violent movies, once they're older, they can spend the rest of their childhood mutilating each other via video games for all I care.

ERm isnt that a good thing, cause they wont care for violence and know whats right from wrong? just my opinion.

How is not caring about other people getting hurt a good thing?

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

No because then they'll end up class bully... unless you're all for people doing whatever they think is right - which generally sucks.

I'm so sad that i won't have kids, i want to avoid having a son or daughter because i don't think think i'd make a good mother when i always have to be on the move, and any relationships i have don't last either, the longest one since i've had my job was maybe 3 monthes, and half of it Was IMing, i don't ever want to do that to my children if i ever have any

No not really, they all have age limits to watch and if you watch a "18" as its called and yuor are below the age of 18 you can't really criticize it.
