Independence Day (4th of July)

Oh yeah... it's on a sunday. Good thing we can buy our liquor at 7 am now! :P

We're not doing anything. Plus in MI the cool fireworks are illegal...

It's actually on Monday, which is in ~3 hrs 15min for me, 15 minutes for the East Coast.

Who's biggest and loudest?

Amurica! [bleep] yeah!

Family isn't doing anything, and I got invited by a girl to go see a movie and then watch the fireworks tonight.icon_thumbsu.gif

Contrary to popular beliefs, girls don't have cooties.

A girl inviting a boy?

Cooties?

A girl, what is it?

I don't get that post.

Pigged out on barbeque food and Wild Turkey. Somehow, no hangover.

China pretty much has. All they have to do is to tell them that it's time to pay their debt.

And they even sell us the fireworks to light off in celebration of our country!!!

My family is going to another family's house for a BBQ and to watch some fireworks. I'm not that thrilled tbh because I never ever have fun when we go to this family's house :P

I take it you just do not particularly get along with the family in question? Nonetheless, I hope you managed to have fun anyways.

banning fireworks? sounds like some Communist [cabbage]. Not in my 'merica.

While you are kidding, unfortunately many states DO have laws that prevent the use of any decent fireworks (usually exceptions for sparklers and other "safe" ones).

It seems that lately, every year we face a drought of some degree. Otherwise, a small amount of people typically mishandle them or fail to take proper precautions. However, I still feel the majority should not be prevented from properly celebrating because of the actions of a few.

Between the two scenarios, it seems in the last decade they have started to crack down harder. They used to pretty much ignore it.

Congratulations on your independence, America. Rest assured, if Europe doesn't reconquer you one day, China will conquer the both of us.

We'll simply revolt while you guys are busy drinking your tea and eating crumpets! ;):P

spent $80 on on fireworks today because they were 70% off. [bleep] yeah

I imagine quite a few places have them on clearance today, given that the demand for them has dropped after the holiday. Its the same after halloween, with costumes and related items.

To be honest, its probably a good time to buy them. Stock up for next year.

At around 11:45 last night, multiple fire trucks were parked next to our house. Apparently some small fires caught on the bluffs directly behind our neighbor's house on the opposite side of the street.

My neighborhood is way into the fourth. Three or four guys combined their fireworks purchased out of state (because MN is lamee) and we did what we usually do: picnic thing from 5:30 to 7, spontaneous waterfight (a nice 8 year old told me I was soaking wet, thanks didnt notice! Also, good that I wore 2 shirts, prevented wet tshirt contest), and fireworks from when it started getting dark around 9 until 11:30. Cops rolled around at about 9:30, but we got everything up and running again shortly after. There were also issues with everclear jello shots being given to minors who were driving, but I wasn't involved.

/FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.

Probably came to one of the fireworks stores in WI I worked at :P

Or went to North Dakota if you guys live on the western part of the state.

I'm English and all I knew about independence day was the movie, they don't teach any of the American history over here, so thanks for making this topic, even though I could have easily have looked it up. :)

That was an awesome movie.

Not much like the actual 4th though - we rarely have alien invasions on independence day.
