As most of you know, Monday is Independence Day here in the United States. This year marks 235 years since the signing of the declaration of independence, where the United States officially declared itself an independent country.

 

I wanted to go ahead and wish all of you a happy 4th early this year. Are you planning on celebrating the holiday? If so, how do you intend to celebrate this year? We might be doing a small cookout here.

 

Also, I wanted to mention that I originally intended to post this yesterday. So that we could include our neighbors to the north whom celebrated Canada Day, a similar holiday. However, I did not get the opportunity to do so. So Canadians, feel free to share how you spent Canada Day as well.

My family is going to another family's house for a BBQ and to watch some fireworks. I'm not that thrilled tbh because I never ever have fun when we go to this family's house :P

Texas sucks for fireworks. Fireworks banned in 150+ counties because of a "fire risk" from the 4 month drought we're currently in.

Heard lots of fireworks for Canada Day. Didn't have a chance to go anywhere truly spectacular for fireworks though.

Yeah, just a slight fire danger. An inch of rain a year tends to do that... Feel sorry for anyone caught lighting up here. $500 fine minimum, especially since Garza County's been burning for a week just to the southeast.

Pretty much my plans.

This will be my second 4th spent in Arizona. I'll probably spend it on another roof, have a few beers, and watch some fireworks go boom.

Drunkness and fireworks ? Our new years ...

Bought a [cabbage]load of Mortar Shells and such for the 4th. I'll be letting them off at a cookout at a friends house. Combined we bought about 600 dollars worth, we're competing with their neighbors for best fireworks in the block lol.

Celebrate freedom from religious institutions by banning sale of alcohol on that day because of religious institutions.

I think it's only mortars and big things like that because I see small bundles of fireworks being sold at like grocery stores and whatnot. Every city in the Phoenix metropolitan area puts on their own show (which are permitted and regulated by "professionals") and since the Valley is almost entirely flat you can end up seeing a good 5 or more shows just by sitting on someone's roof.

I went to a part last night, drank and watched the local country club's fireworks. They weren't quite as good as I expected, possibly because of being pretty far away. So I am going to go to another fireworks show tonight.

 

Fourth of July is my favourite holiday of the year!
