How2PK
After the success of the previous two tournaments (The greatest song ever and the greatest movie ever) it doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t seem like a bad idea to have more tournaments in the future. So I was wondering if there is more interest for new tournaments. I myself am very curious for example a ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅBest album ever̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Nathaninch
Video game was what I was thinking of. I think it would be interesting to see what is widely considered the best game ever. Whether it would be an older console or a newer one. Personally, I think people would take a final fantasy or goldeneye 64.
Augsback
How about monthly tournaments on the greatest DVD release for the month or movie release there for. I also likes Nathan's idea that is very clever and could work out as well. :D

For example:[*:1qri83a3]SNES/Sega Saturn [*:1qri83a3]Playstation/Nintendo 64 [*:1qri83a3]Playstation 2/Gamecube/X boxFitting pc games in there would go by the years of each time frame. How2PK
For games I think the Off Topic forum would be more suitable. I was more looking for music and movie/serie related tournaments. indy500fan
first thing i thought of was video games, but that would be better in OT. good way to do it to was how necromagus suggested. but anyways, for this forum, i would suggest "greatest tv show ever" and/or "greatest cartoon ever". greatest album ever sounds good for the music people on this board (i guess it is a music and movies forum, but i never look at anything with music  ). if we wanted to do a movie one, we could go by genres. that would take a while, so maybe start with 8 and eliminate from there. then some movies are hard to stick into one particular genre, so i dont know how that would work. Pete_the_Viscous
...and if we keep on long enough, we could organise "greatest greatest [thing] tournaments", "greatest greatest greatest [thing] tournaments" and so ad infinitum. I would worry that it might be more difficult to have a fair "best actor" competion than best film, because, while people could still watch films with that actor in them (as they watched the films being voted for), depending on which performance they see, they might get a different impression. We can't exactly expect people to watch everything that actor has done. What we could do, however, is say "best actor performance"; i.e. nominated "so and so's performance in Bladerunner" or "this-that-ortheother's acting in Pulp Fiction". This might also let different actors lose one bout and win another (from being voted for in two seperate performances); or it could be limited to one performance per actor. I think the latter might be more difficult. If there were to be a "best game" thread, I think it'd be better if it were two: "best console game" and "best PC game". Not that I want to let my huge PC bias slip through here, but there are a lot of people who have consoles who don't play PC games, and vice versa. deviantart account

Mr_Putter
If we learned anything from Greatest movie is that it just doesn't work...The video game would be even worse...Since that's where fanboys come from...There are simply too many games, and too wide of tastes in videogames...Thousands of video games, over the course of so many systems, that few (and I doubt anyone on this board) has come close to playing even all of the big name games, let alone those amazing games you never hear about because they don't have TV commericals. Plus, unless you have every system in existence, and a humongous collection of games, you couldn't possibly put in a valid arguement. It would pretty much be the game that the most people have played, and didn't hate. Same with albums...Since a lot of people just download their music now, most people don't have a large CD collection...Especially not a large CD collection that has a lot of variety and covers a large time period. The song one worked because people would just go download the song and listen to it for 5 minutes. Personally I don't think that this kind of polls really works on this type of board. How2PK
Why shouldn't this work. Of course it's not totally accurate, but that shouldn't keep us from having some fun. And because some of us didn't like the outcome of the movie poll shouldn't stop us from making a new tournament. I've been on other forums where the tournaments always work perfectly fine. And I think it isn't too hard to come up with your 16 favorite albums. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Peter
It's always cool to have the polls up and running. The issue here is finding something that everyone can relate to, so no local things (people in Japan get different TV shows than people in America). I can't think of anything other than what has been mentioned.

indy500fan
i thought the greatest movie ever poll worked perfectly, the only thing wrong was the name. it should have been "favorite TIForumers movie". and i think that it was a perfectly acceptable outcome for a poll titled that. personally, lord of the rings would only make it in my top 100, maybe top 75. i enjoyed it, and it was done pretty dam well, but there are just better movies. best actor/actress was a good idea, i should have thought of that. best actrees wouldnt work to well for me, i wouldnt go by her acting talents, i would probably go by her other assets  . I think the poll outcome was acceptable as well. Lord of the Rings is a quality movie, I don't like the movie, so that's bad luck for me. But you can't deny that Lord of the Rings is a good movie. And you got a lot of people complaining about how the outcome was bad, but I've seen a lot of other nomination lists that were absolutely ridiculous. The thing that really annoyed me after the tournament was that only a few people had the decency to thank the people who put a lot of time in it and thus making it possible for us. Oh wait, it's Tip It Boy Meets World would probably win it. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. But Sitcoms would be a good field for a poll in my opinion; you don't have thousands of them which people know of, so it would be easier to come to a mutual decision in regards to the nominees (as opposed to actors and actresses). And, I would think that pretty much everyone has seen an episode of Seinfeld or Everybody Loves Raymond or whatever.
