Investigating the Wise Old Man

I found something odd...

Look at the topic - its on this board.

And can someone see if this is inline with the WOM.

Well, the Oracle is pretty close to the Monastery, the monks there are Saradominists, the Stone Circle isn't too far away...

But apart from that, no. I can't see anything else. Sorry to be rather brief, but I fail to see any connection between the monks and the Wise Old Man. In my opinion, it's some sort of strange joke by Jagex.

This is all coming together like a jigsaw puzzle now. But what pieces are left to find?

What Father Aereck saw the Seminary staff doing in the cemetery that night would be of much use. Hopefully some of our letters will get answered next month. All of these realizations occurring at once seems like a pretty weird coincidence. We make the great big connection of WOM to the next God War, then the symbols of the apocalypse.

I just want to reiterate: The meeting tomorrow is 1 hour before the TET event is scheduled to begin, World 7, inside the Water Altar. Hopefully there's no confusion.

Let's make a pact now: If the player's can't stop WOM and he destroys Gielinor and leaves a wasteland, then WOMDA will band together and roam the countryside fighting evil, like Mad Max.

As long as Jagex underestimates our chances of finding out what's really going on with the WOM, I'm pretty certain they'll answer it. Hopefully this last clue will put everything in place.

So we shall fight Lesser Demons, Greater Demons, Ankou's, Giant Skeletons, Moss Giants, Hill Giants, Deadly Red Spiders, Ice Warriors, Ice Giants, Hobgoblins, Skeletons, Pirates, Muggers, Giant Spiders, Giant Rats, Scorpions, King Scorpions, Black Knights, Catablepon's, Zombies, Ghosts, Minotaurs, Wolves, Evil Chicken and whatever else he may throw at us? Count me in!

Yes we will!

Also, I noticed something new. At Aggie the Witch's house in Draynor there's a wall hanging with a symbol that looks identical to one of the four rocks (the swirlie one). Now we have 2 locations: The book on WOM's desk has a symbol identical to one of the rocks, Aggie's house has another. Where are the other 2 symbols?

Well, Aggie is a witch, so that would hint at disease. The book on WOM's desk could possibly be a book on the details of war (well, we already know he is rather the fighter). Perhaps the other two symbols are somewhere that relates to death and famine? I have a feeling they are in Morytania- the only problem with that is, if we send a Member into the swamps, there's a very high chance that they'll get killed. I doubt even the bravest would dare venture in there. Grrr, talk about a clever trap by Jagex. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't think of any other places to do with famine and death.

A chance to save the world from the apocalypse....I'm in!

7pm GMT tonight isn't it?

Yep. Water Altar. Lumbridge Swamps.

I'm just thinking- if we were to fight the WOM and Zaros, would they not be something crazy like Level 1000 with a load of hitpoints to boot? Basically we are going against impossible odds... and that's even better! We'll likely die of course, but nevertheless, we'll fight. But we are going to try and stop him from causing the apocalypse in the first place, aren't we?

Why is this sounding more and more like Lord of the Rings...

Does it? I can't really see the similarity. We're going to fight a god and someone who wants to become one... we have the apocalypse... no, can't see it, sorry.

I suppose in a way it is similar, but a small group of people fighting against massive amounts of foes is a recurring theme in most fantasy movies and games. The only examples I can think of that are similar to The Lord of the Rings are the forests of Isadafar, Mirthril armour, and Dwarves. Jagex not only borrows ideas from LOTR, but from hundreds of fantasy and fairy tale stories. However, as far as I know, the Wise Old Man is unique. Yes, there have been plenty of wise men in stories, but never was one so... indepth as him.

you know this is gonna clash with the TET event

Only if it goes on for an hour, which I seriously doubt. It's just a short meeting once a week to discuss the Wise Old Man of Draynor Village, and what he may be up to. Really, we're not going to stand talking for an hour at a Water Altar.

2Nd god war would be an excellent spot to release a master quest (And maybe change RuneScape alot, maybe the new version of it?)

You mean the rumoured RuneScape 3? Possibly, though there is no real information on whether or not it's currently being made. For now, the third version of RuneScape is a rumour, and nothing more.

I reckon it'll happen, seeing as this forum has now made 35 pages, I reckon it'll be easy to keep talking for an hour. Especially if you're typing... \'

Thanks a lot! This may help out a bit. Make sure you bring the correct equipment, though. And be careful.

Even so, I'm quite sure you'll get to the TET event on time. If it does go over an hour though, we'll have to put proper timing into it for future meetings (if there are going to be any).
