KCHughes
The black knight has been there for awhile, but is really interesting in relation to WOM. Father Uhrney is nearby and WOM mentioned him in one of letters. There's another rogue black knight right near Varrock close to Father Lawrence's church - WOM wrote to him as well, and also wrote to the Oracle, who is right next to the Black Knight's castle. Probably part of WOM monitoring them to pin the blame for the destruction of the Wizard's Tower on the Zamorakians. He's and Otto von Bismarck of Runescape, he is. the russians are the best! pizzar456
1st theory: Geographic Coordinates (KCHughes) Using one of WOM's books, calculated the position of WOM's telescope, the Draynor bank, and the Wizard's tower, making an imaginary line that intersect with the Bandit Camp, along with a line perpendicular to it that intersects with the Digsite, Port Phasmatys, and the Wizard Guild. Analysis: WOM is an agent of Zaros gaining magical power, because of the line through the Bandit Camp and the correlation with the Wizard's Tower and Guild. I have found that when asking him these things he says some intresting things backing up theory 1 [list=]I'd just like to ask you something. Gods and demons Three gods? This maybe because i have done the digsite and Desert treasure (both hinted apon during dialog) Also while talking to him he has mentioned his "sources"
fakeitormakeit
If anyone completed the quest Swan Song you would find out his real name and that he was once a great adventurer. He also started out with the oppurtunity to study as a monk at Entrana and he was a devoted Saradominist but turned it down to explore. My theory is that his acquired knowledge somehow corrupted him and gave him an urge for power. Now that he is powermad he'll do something really crazy, whatever it takes him to become something like an emperor, ruler, demi-god, etc.

KingWenlok
I'm just thinking- haven't we practically solved the mystery of the Wise Old Man? If the WOM wanting to become a god theory is correct (which I am 99% certain it is), then all we basically need to do is work out what the other two symbols on the Falador Stones stand for, get the letter from Father Aereck, find a few more clues, and get WOMDA ready for battle. Well, if we defeat the WOM, I guess it's adios. It is a shame, but unfortunately every story must end. But if we don't defeat WOM, I guess that'll be kinda worse in a way, due to the fact that he'll be mostly undefeatable, so really we'll get caught up in a never ending war across a harsh wasteland. 1alebcay
No, I have a feeling that if this does go in the direction it is currently headed JAGeX will release a series of quests in which you slowly learn of his plans. For instance in quest one you talk to the wizards and find that now he is planing to attack the other tower. You work with the wizards to protect the secret of summoning, and then you find a way to distract him. In the end of the quest the wizards point him toward those rocks. They assure you that they are just random stuff. In the second quest you learn that the rocks really were something. Then you learn from the WOM that those rocks taught how to make magic that didn't require runes. But he still doesn't know what they mean completely. Eventually you find out that they only teach the location of where the ancients first created runes. You learn that the alters where you bind the powers into runes are really just alters that the acients cast spells on. I really don't know where these ideas came from they were just really out of my head, but heck that is how JAGeX gets alot of their ideas. (Not unnecessarily my head, but out of some one's head.) (Or could it be that I really don't want this to ever end?) What has become of the runescape community???? :wall:There is a community?

KCHughes
I saw the WOM while I was killing chickens in lumbridge  He's on the move! @ Dark and alebcay who are guarding the Wizard's Tower - I hope you don't mind martyrdom, because WOM IS going to attack you guys... I promise to make some kind of shrine out of whatever is left of you both. Back to the current theory (which I am surprised at how many others believe it...I believe it, but I didn't expect anyone else to). I don't expect Jagex to make an all-encompassing, do or die, hardest-quest-that-they-will-ever-create, quest. Those jokers seem to be fond of series quests, and we've already got part one: Swan's Song. That gave us the background on WOM and what he's like. Part two...well, we'll probably have to go on some kind of fact-finding mission for one of the wizards, and once the wizard has all the info he can conclude that WOM's intentions are what we think - meaning we're already one step ahead of the game. Part three...possibly helping the wizards evacuate and setting up a trap. Part four...WOM probably will escape the trap but will become a fugitive, and it's our job to track him down. Eh, that's what I think, at least. Maybe it will end, maybe it won't... the russians are the best! Hands down!
UptheToon
At the Fally Mysterious stones, was the sun symbol rock always broken in two? So if that has been changed in a hidden update and the sun symbol means war does this mean that war is going to break loose?

Providing they don't trip over each others cloaks of course. But as for us, whilst following the WOM, if he spots us, we're pretty much dead aren't we? Well, maybe Chad197 can use our ashes to make a birthday cake. I think you'll be used in the icing and me in the cream. :P Back to the current theory (which I am surprised at how many others believe it...I believe it, but I didn't expect anyone else to). Traiborn, do you think? We might even possibly get the Mysterious Old Man involved- the supposed brother of the Wise Old Man. Part three...possibly helping the wizards evacuate and setting up a trap. Actually, the MOM will probably play a part in this. The trap could be leading the WOM to one of the MOM's glass boxes and trapping him inside. It is clear that the Wise Old Man is in love with money, so maybe if we were to drop a trail of coins, he might follow it into the box! Traiborn might be able to do some wizardry to make the box appear totally invisible. Part four...WOM probably will escape the trap but will become a fugitive, and it's our job to track him down. Eh, that's what I think, at least. Maybe it will end, maybe it won't... He'll probably run to Zaros, wherever he is. Though if you were Zaros, already freed from whatever enchantment, and seeking summoning runes to create a deadly army, where would you go? Uh huh. The Falador Stones. A lot of things seem to link with them, and their symbols have been found all over the place. So possibly there is a multitude of runes trapped in each stone. Zaros being a god, he'll probably find a way to tap into them. Thank goodness for chad197 and fronzz- the fate of the world might rest in their hands.

He doesn't have infinite health, so when trying to take over the world, he would need an army. but still he could have extremely low defence because the creature that hit him never was able to hit me...(sea troll queen lvl 170 or something) The Wise Old Man would have an extremely high defence actually. 1alebcay
A couple of things to remember when thinking up these quest ideas. People have to stay where they are for future events. For instance if the WOM was put in prison, how would players who are doing swan song find him? If he attacks the wizard's tower than it would have to be a F2P update also. (It this is a series than it won't be F2P, but we can pray it is.) And again the biggest thing you are forgetting is that things can not majorly change from the way they were. He can't destroy the tower or a bunch of quests would be ruined. He can't be put in prison or else people wouldn't have him be able to identify quest items. A series of quests really isn't out of the question but you have to think about what you are saying. What has become of the runescape community???? :wall:There is a community? A series of quests really isn't out of the question but you have to think about what you are saying. We're thinking that the quest is going to be something along the lines of "foil WOM before he destroys things," which really won't necessitate any major changes to F2P areas. Players will probably get to stop him before he destroys the tower. It was my guess that WOM would flee after his plot gets foiled, because I assumed he would runn off to a members area (possibly a new one - might seek refuge in the Elven lands or the remotest parts of Morytania) so the quest could continue for members outside of the F2P areas. Plus, Jagex often puts NPCs in two areas at once, like when WOM was in the lumberyard a few weeks ago. I can remember a few other quests where one NPC was in 2 places at once, and the explanation for the event was something obviously ludicrous but put there because Jagex likes being funny. :D So whenever we talk about defending the tower with a mini army, or trying to survive a post-apocalyptic Runescape, or turning WOM into a kite and using him to fly to members' lands and get free membership is just playful banter. :P (and I just made up that last option  ) EDIT: DISCLAIMER: I'm pretty sure at the moment that we're NOT going to become a fighting force that will stand up to WOM's army to save the world. But if you want to keep talking about it in a humorous context then I'm fine with it. the russians are the best! Hands down!
1alebcay
I noticed a part of the March behind the Scenes that might pertain to us... Finally, you'll have the opportunity to look into the dark heart of old Varrock, digging holes into ancient caverns best left undisturbed. What Lies Below the city? What foul plots are afoot? Do you have what it takes to join the Varrock Palace Secret Guard? Don't expect a simple story in this quest, for the conspiracies and plans of wicked men are rarely transparent... though there will be Runecrafting rewards for anyone that can translate them. Even if it isn't linked directly to the WOM it is linked to Runecrafting which is linked to him. (Plus it never hurts to find out some ancient history.) Aw, I was beginning to get excited. :P But I don't think he'd like being turned into a kite anyway, so... I noticed a part of the March behind the Scenes that might pertain to us... I have a feeling this is something to do with summoning runes, though I doubt they would unleash that great a power on us so soon. Possibly some knowledge about summoning, and a bit of Runecrafting experience. Or we could get a bunch of runes and learn how to summon giant rats. Hmmm... :-k

KingWenlok
A spy of the Wise Old Man was spotted today on Tutorial Island! The spy was sighted by Vannaka, Combat Instructor of the island. Vannaka refuses to say anything other than, "I saw, The Woms Spy," so he is currently being treated for shock. An image of the WOM's spy was taken by Vannaka shortly after he was spotted near the rat prison: Looks very spy-like, doesn't he? Anyway, we're still waiting for the Postbag from the Hedge. Hopefully it'll come by tomorrow, so we'll have more to discuss for the next meeting. Which reminds me- 8:00pm GMT, tomorrow, Water Altar. Hopefully you'll come! :P However, Trobigod has not yet done the 'Tower of Life' quest and won't be able to do it tomorrow, so we'll have to wait I'm afraid. :P
