January 24, 201214 yr THIS WORKS ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP, IM CURRENTLY LOOKING IN TO 7 AND VISTA. Hello Mega13lade here. Alot of you were complaining about the black screen and a increased lag in the game (slower gameplay). Well i have figured out how to help prevent these two problems from happening. ------Please note that this does NOT completely stop the black screen nor make the game play run at its max, but it helps. Step one: open up you start menu---right click on computer and select properties---go to advanced tab and under performance click settings or advanced settings, then select the option (run for best performance) Step two: Defragment you computer. ---Open start menu and click all programs--- go to accessibility--- click defragment disk--- run it on your main disk (OS: or C-drive) Step Three: Disk Clean up. ---follow same steps as as number two, but select disk cleanup--- run on the (OS: or the C-Drive) Step Four: Clearing Browser History. ---Open Firefox (HIGHLY perfered during the game play of runescape to use Firefox) Click on the orange firefox button and select clear history ---clear everything. Step Five: playing the game. ---Ok so now you can play the game. Pull up runescape. Load the game. BUT WAIT. Before you log in press CTRL-ALT-DELETE.Press the processes tab--- find the process Java.exc and Firefox.exc--- Righ click them and select set priority Set Firefox to above high. Making it Realtime--- Then set java.exc to High. (DO NOT MAX OUT BOTH JAVA.EXC AND FIREFOX.EXC BECAUSE YOUR GAMEPLAY WILL RESULT IN A SLOW MOUSE AND ALOT OF BLACKSCREENS. BUT IF YOU DO, DON'T WORRY JUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AND REPEAT STEP FIVE.) They say the eyes are the windows to the soul... ....I like to break these windows and take whats inside. -WHITE CROVV-

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
January 24, 201214 yr Is there any way to keep Java priority on high? So that you don't have to set its' priority every time you load Runescape?
January 24, 201214 yr You can defrag, disk cleanup, clear browsing history, etc on Vista and 7 as well. Welcome to the forums. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." January 24, 201214 yr Author Lj13, depending on your computer's status these all help. I'm using my grandfathers E-MACHINES for experimenting purposes so stop trying to be a super man by correcting what does work for one of the crappiest computers in the world so imagine using it on a higher rank computer. Oh wait, i already did. I performed it on my mac and 90/100% problems it gave me when playing runescape made it a 100% tops. I'll just :wall:Anyways, there isn't much to add, lest I incur your wrath like poor LJ. You may want to mention that there are programs you can download that allow you to save priorities. Also, you can increase the amount of memory that is allocated by changing the Java Runtime settings. Welcome to the forums. Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475
January 25, 201214 yr Part of making guides is being willing to take constructive criticism to make your guide better--since the whole reason anyone ever posts a guide is to help people. All the things you mentioned are good ideas for regular maintenance and there's nothing wrong with them. Let's just say you 'saved the best for last' then huh? But there's no reason to go and get snippy, on either sides.
January 25, 201214 yr Thanks for the tips! I totally didn't know about the high priority thing until I read this
January 26, 201214 yr Author Laugh* i was just playing, jeez i have nothing against him, but yea i know that while doing guides i get critics, but he shouldn't have made a comment without knowing the details about what i was posting. I wasnt finished with the guide when my little brother posted it for a completely dumb joke. I guess i did over react a bit, but it made me mad when it WAS NOT finished. I was going to add how to save the priority and exc and some other things. Sorry LJ  They say the eyes are the windows to the soul... ....I like to break these windows and take whats inside. -WHITE CROVV-
January 27, 201214 yr Tried all of this and it still doesn't get above 12FPS... I dunno what Jagex changed (this can't be due to the botnuke only I think) but it seriously messed up the game for the majority of the players. RAAAAAAAGH :wall: 2016 goals: all skills +30mil xp - Completed this goal 11th December 2016 2017 goals: get at least 3 more master capes (start xp: invention done@21st Jan, mining done@2nd April & ranged 76/104mil done@June 20th) & all skills +40mil xp (done 24th August)
