You can't go wrong with Mac N' Cheese.

 

Unless you [bleep] up the sauce mixing procedure, that is. It's weird half of the noodles are coated in cheese and the rest aren't, or if the sauce is done wrong. It's like eating from a bra and the edible contents are little zombie ants with a dash of seeking the nearest source of liquid to wash out the bizarre taste. I am aware I might have exaggerated that analogy a bit. But seriously, it's not mac n' cheese if the sauce is having issues. Otherwise, it's a bowl of naked noodle-y awkwardness.

 

And I already got my mining suit from that game (minus the pickaxe) over a year ago. God, it was so annoyingly luck-based. Getting the first piece took me hours, but then I got the next two quickly after that.

For some reason when I make my roux, no matter how low I have the heat, it never completely gets rid of that floury taste. It really pisses me off and I can't really figure out where I'm going wrong. The butter just freaking starts to brown too fast, no matter how vigorously I stir. Then the bechamel is ridiculously thick as a result and not as tasty.

Béchamel is traditionally made by melting a quantity of butter, and adding an equal part of flour in order to make a roux, which is cooked under gentle heat while stirring with a whisk. As it is a white sauce, care needs to be taken not to brown the roux. Then heated milk is gradually whisked in, and the sauce is cooked until thickened and smooth. The proportion of roux and milk determines the thickness of the sauce, typically one to three tablespoons each of flour and butter per cup of milk. One tablespoon each of butter and flour per cup of milk would result in a thin, easily pourable sauce. Two tablespoons of each would result in a medium thick sauce. Three tablespoons of each would be used for an extra thick sauce such as used to fill croquettes or as a souffle base. Salt and white pepper are added and it is customary, in Italy, to add a pinch of nutmeg.[5] Optionally a whole or cut onion, studded with one or more whole cloves, and a bay leaf may be simmered with the milk and then strained before adding to the roux.

Wiki also does cooking, awesome. I had to look up 'roux' :(.

 

Maybe you should try a larger amount of bechamel, or taking the pan off the flame when the butter's liquid.
