Let's not get back into diverting the thread because you're bored, Neferast.

And I wasn't asking advice, I was being an attention [bleep]. There's a difference.

Also, Mather, since when does hanging out with someone equal a relationship?

Since you you formulated it that way.

Note how these sentences get entirely different meanings:

"I enjoy spending time with Ouyso." (Ouyso is a fun guy to be around.)

"Ouyso enjoys spending time with me." (Ouyso benefits from my presence.)

"Ouyso enjoys spending time with me, and I with him." (Ouyso benefits from my presence and I find it rewarding.)

"Ouyso and I enjoy spending time together." (Serious bromance going on.)

"Ouyso and I hang out. We enjoy spending time with eachother." (Ouyso and I are dating.)

Even trying to see that in the context of innuendo, it still just doesn't work.

It works fine. You just have say it with the emphasis.

We enjoy spending time together could mean we both enjoy spending time in each other's company.

We enjoy spending time together could mean we enjoy spending time with each other's bodies.

Its reasonably subtle, and the English are masters of understatement and subtly, so maybe it is just something English people get.

"Ouyso and I hang out. We enjoy spending time with eachother." (Ouyso and I are dating.)

They could all mean something romantic or totally innocent. Mostly it depends on the way you speak normally, and it is quite clear that the Norse/Anglo way of speaking is different from the Americano way of speaking.

It also could be that both Mather and myself are looking for an alternate interpretation. Mather because he is carnally inclined, and me because I enjoy manipulating language.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

In summary; you're both pricks.

She's a really nice person, and emotionally comfortable to be around. I don't know if she likes me, but it's not like she's some random girl I suddenly feel I'm connected to.

To me, when someone says they enjoy the presence of someone, it can be they're friends or romantically involved, I normally don't want to make an assumption and say something wrong (although I can think it)

Also, reply from two universities with conditional offers

280 points (equivilent to a BBC)

300 points (BBB)

As I'm aiming for a BBB, I can probably get in, but the issue with me is, I can know the subject quite well and still do terribly in the test because of LOL KEYWORDS and PEDANTICISM.

Example today: My chemistry teacher gave us a test on chemical half-cells, and I was able to work out most of it without having to write the reactivity series next to it (he said to do it, but I didn't want to waste time on the test, because he didn't word it like "It's part of the question" but rather "It'll help you")

So I get all the working correct, but no reactivity series.

And then when it came to the diagram (granted I did it wrong, but got most of the labels 'right') I still only got one mark because instead of writing "acid" I wrote the name of an actual acid, instead of writing "H2 at standard pressure and temperature" I wrote "H2" (but it was obvious it was standard pressure and temperature BECAUSE IT STATES IT ANYWAY IN THE QUESTION)

So instead of getting 9/9 (may have been 8/8) I got 4.

So yeah, rant over, hopefully I'll learn the keywords and just use them in the exam.

Oh and I'll actually study over time instead of cram studying like I usually do (or sometiems don't even do that)

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

That is terribly imbecilic. Worse, even, than my Global History 2 class.

In summary; you're both pricks.

Or, more accurately:

Mather is more Carnally Inclined than you.

Archi is more Intellectually Inclined than you.

People often see their own inadequacies as deficency in other people... I would suggest you go less judging and more reflecting, then I wouldn't have to judge you as I have done here (and find it distasteful).

say something wrong (although I can think it)

This is being English =P

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

The worst offender is computing.

I lost marks in my actual exam because the examiners are just plain evil.

"Promotional" is not the same as "Special" in terms of offers

Apparently the answer in a table is "4,4,4,4" and I wrote "4,4,4,4" and got it WRONG.

And a few other things.

Seriously, reading the mark scheme and ordering your test paper being returned really opens your eyes to how much the examiners really just hate students.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

I enjoy lingual manipulation, it is not my all consuming desire to turn everything into pun/innuendo or some other wordplay.

Not everyone knows how to proceed with getting into a relationship. Although, it really depends on what kind of advice he is after. If it's something like "is she right for me?", then yeah. That should be a question you answer yourself. If it's something a little more complicated then it never hurts to ask others if you're unsure of how to proceed, etc...

I think that I'm speaking quite generally but what I mean is that if you have to ask for help proceeding then you obviously don't feel fully comfortable with him or her. I think one of the main factors of a relationship is 'clicking'.

If you've talked to him/her and you haven't instantly clicked and still need further help pursuing then I expect that it is fairly likely that you have failed.

Oh in that case you've probably found the right person.

Edit: I don't know whether to italicise the 'probably' or not, it seems sarcastic when I do it. I mean to stress word on the probably because I can't say it for sure. As a full unitalicised sentence it sounds reassured and arrogant but with an italic it sounds rude and arrogant. In context I mean 'well, you don't seem to be displaying any of the traits that I was on about' so you've probably found the right person but I cannot be sure due to lack of information, but as a general rule it is a waste of time to try and woo somebody - if you don't get on, you will probably never get on to a sufficent point that you want a relationship together.

Edit2: Mather, I think because stereotypical American teens speak like that.

Why did you assume I meant sexual enjoyment? What I meant is that to me that phrasing says enjoy being together in a romantic sense, as in you take pleasure from eachother's proximity. Because the way some literary, poetic and cinematic works describe the characters as feeling more complete when physically close is an actual thing.

Why did you assume I meany sexual enjoyment?

Cause the only difference between being friends and being 'with' someone is sex(and kissing potentially).

Everything else is more or less wrapping...for instance having a meal with someone is not inherantly romantic.

Presenting romantic gifts, yes, that is different, or doing things that are highly intimate, bathing together for instance...But, for the most part, there is only one major difference.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well that is the difference in what you do, but there is also the matter of what you feel when you are together, which is where what I said above comes in.

but there is also the matter of what you feel when you are together

This pretty much.

Although archi has a point when it comes to PHYSICAL contact. There really only are a couple differences in that area.
