another wipe wont help, they need to find a long term fix, if you dont remember when the bot nuke was made, there were no bots! but then a 2 weeks later they were back..

Look at it this way, if they didn't care, they wouldn't even bother pushing out bot-breaking updates.

 

I think they care, I just think that whatever corporate constraints they have doesn't exactly allow them to be as smart as they're able.

It is impossible to stop bots permanently and to expect that is unreasonable.

Kimberly you are right, the war between and jagex will never end. Jagex can never permanently get rid of all bots. but they can do more to stop them, if a moderator walked in the g.e and just totally obliterated the lvl 3 accounts advertising. then that would even be good. but the sad fact is that jagex makes money off of bots. and for this reason only. bots will never be gone. this forum is not for the bots to be gone, all i want is an effort to make that happen. i see no effort. even if the level 3's advertising are not bots, they are still violating the RWT rule.

 

Kimberly saying it is impossible cancels out all hope. there is always hope, remember that.

Honestly if moderators gave a [bleep] about the game. why don't they get rid of the stupid add bots? you cant ell me that they don't see them. i have never seen a mod hanging round those bots for a minute or two banning them.

I actually have, and on two separate occasions seen P-Mods come in and mute all of the ad bots in the G.E., and within minutes new bots had logged in and it was as if nothing had happened. The spammers and gold farmers don't care if their bots get muted, banned or nuked from orbit, they'll just make new ones.

 

It is actually impossible to stop bots by having J-Mods to simply go around banning every bot they see, they may as well be trying to drain the ocean with a bucket.

What everyone wants is a less procrastinated fix. A fix that doesn't just drop em off the game for a day or a week but forever. It's not that Jagex isn't trying, they just aren't going above and beyond what someone would expect them to be doing bare-min. RS is the only game that I know of with this amount of RWT and bots, and Jagex needs to stop acting high-class if they aren't providing high-class.

To come back to the bot problem.. Jagex should make randoms, but make them so that none of 'em are the same twice! Like mathematical randoms etc.. The kind of stuff a 4 year old can fix, but a programmed bot can not.

 

In my opinion, Jagex is encouraging people to 'buy' runescape gold since they keep releasing so many 'high end' items. People want the best stuff, and Torva is currently the best stuff, but is unaffordable to most people... Several hundreds of dollars and it's no longer unaffordable.. They need to calm down with these extremely expensive items. Back in 2007-2008, when I first started, only a handfull of people had 'real money' as in millions! Now, if you have 100M, where will that get you? Maybe 1 skill to 99? Or 1 good armour set + a weapon? There's a huge inflation in the RS market and they need to fix this first!

 

Stop giving out stuff for free, install 'toll gates' all around runescape so that a large portion of the gold is taken out of circulation, i'd say that's a start. Fixing the economy will fix the bot problem..

Yes, and eons ago people's monthly salaries were barely in the double digits. They payed 5 cents for gum, 50 cents for a tank of gas and $50 for a car. Us poor sobs living in 2012 can expect to pay 100 times these figures or more, oh woe is us, woe! Fear not though poor huddled consumer of goods, for you may also expect to make 100 times what your ancestors made! All is not lost for you have almost exactly the same purchasing power your forefathers had.

Jagex trying to ban bots is like having 100 people trying to kill hundreds of thousands of self replicating spies in possession of near perfect disguises and access to all technological advancements Jagex has who, upon death will be replaced inside 30 seconds with a comrade possessing a lifetime of training. Please give me a better definition of impossible.
