Why not herbolore?

I really enjoy combat, so Barrows is the #1 money-maker for me.

Other then that, I make money through leveling.

Devious Minds alone earned me atleast 2M. (leveling RC and Smithing - 2 skills I really hate)

elucin8er said almost exactly what I would say.

To elaborate, here are some figures for skills. (not merchant, stake, pk, or 85 slayer)

1. Green Dragon Slaying - 350k+ per hour using a secret method of mine...and I'm 105 combat.

2. Runecrafting - 300k per hour using the abyss and crafting nature, law, or death runes

(obviously at 91 runecraft this will double to 600k per hour with natures)

3. Rune Mining - 250k per hour ever since they put in that delay between switching servers. I used to be able to do 350k an hour with this.

That's all I can give you set figures for. I haven't had enough experience to give accurate figures on anything else.

Obviously Slayer could make you rich...but not everyone has the time to get 85 slayer...

Oh, and personally, I'm a fan of green dragon slaying. You get money AND a good deal of combat experience.

The thought behind doing that what u like really makes sense.

Because u cant earn money, by doing nothing, because you don't do something u dont like.

Personaly, I prefer runecrafting, especialy with the abys, because it gives just that extra challenge to runecrafting. (pkers + abys monters/obstacles), also the use of pouches rules! which give that extra money you really WANT!

Fishing ownz to, but thats personal..

(sorry for my spellings, because I am lazy :D)

3. Green Dragons

Your secret method wouldn't involve Carralangar teleport, would it? :P

I made my first million selling thousands of water filled vials to some rich herblorists. It's quiet a good profit, but it doesn't raise any skill.

Nowadays I run a quiet large herblore shop, selling the low and middle level herbs I don't use and all kind of second ingredients from eyes of newt to crushed bird nests.

If my shop was not running out of stock so fast I could easily make 100 or 200k each day. I usually collect loads of stuff while playing to refill my stock every month, then I advertize on some large and wellknown forums to sell it all in one or two go.

In the meantime I do clue scroll after clue scroll in the hope to find something of value to sell (I do only lvl2 scroll at my level). I also grow ranarr weed and I do make quiet a lot of cash from pray pots selling.

I think I'm going to start merchanting ores so I can get a santa and a whip. :D I'll keep my herblore shop running because I have a good time helping people to raise up this difficult skill.

I made a few good friends that way and that is the best part of my little business. :)

I've never staked before, so I can't really say how good it is for money when it comes to personal experience. I don't have 91 runecrafting, 85 slayer, or 85 mining.

For anything I've actually done, the list would be (based solely upon how fast money can be made with the method):

1) Merchanting

2) Barrows (Largely luck-based, but overall when considering long periods of time, I'd say it falls here)

3) Abyss Runecrafting

4) Ranging Blue Dragons

5) Fletching Yew Longs

Top ways to make money, this is very debatable, and depends entirely on many many factors. Fishing is in no way up there, nor is Herblore. Here is a accurate list:

1. Long term and smart merchants

2. Staking

3. Lucky Pking

4. 91 Runecrafting

5. 85 Slayer - Very debatable now, whips seem to be crashing.

Green Dragons come close, as for blue dragons - no way! Rune Mining is definetly up there if you get lucky. If you don't agree with my list then I suggest you take a look at the rich people -

Duke Freedom - Merchant

R2Pleasent - Merchant

Cursed You - Staker

0mfg0rz - Pker

Larryr - 99 Runecrafter

MOST 85 SLAYERS

I know there are richer people, but I used the ones that are familiar to Tip it and more famous.

Here's the top skills to make money:

1. 91 Runecrafting

2. 85 Slayer

3. Rune Mining

4. Fletching - if you're smart

That's going off my personal observations and experience.

Accepting critisism and things that I missed :D

i find it easiest to agree with you...

one question though, how is pking profitable? unless you sit at zammy mage and pk about 40 glories a day (entirely possible), i don't see it making any money unless you pk like a whip every time you pk...

last thing, if you didn't include staking and merchanting, as they are also 1 and 2 in top 5 ways to lose money, i would include green dragons, as well as herb collecting/farming if you're smart and concentrated

That's why I said lucky pking :P The term - "best way to make money" relates to my top 3 in lucky ways. For instance, you can make 1 bil in 1 mins either staking or pking, depending on the circumstance, ontouchable by other methods.

As for Oddfaerie, I sort of lashed out at that blue dragon method, it's still a nice way to make money, but Imo it shouldn't be anywhere near the top 5, merely because green dragons are 5x faster to kill and quicker acess using ancient teleports :P

My list is just going off the people who ARE the richest in the game. You'll find many of these people do things which are in my initial top 5.

Sheesh, I forgot all about this post, so I'll have to catch up..

The guy who said money making depends on what you enjoy, i TOTALLY agree, which is why it is near impossible to make a list - which is why I went off my observations of the billionaries. And by no means am I a merchant, or would ever dream to be :P

My personal favourites include:

Green Dragon Slaying

Barrows

Fletching

Slayer/Monster drops while training

The occasional stake/pk

Very interesting to see these lists :D

first of all, i agree however im always too strapped for ingame time to ever do this

but WHY BUY vials from a store? when you can kill water elementals for them, its combat exp + free vials

ive convinced a friend of mine(lvl 65 or something) to kill water elementals til he has 5k vials of water, ill pay 150 ea for them and bam, good deal for me and him

1. Barrows

2. Runecrafting

3. Occasional merchanting

4. Fletching

5. Woodcutting

Barrows is by far my most profitable. I have a thread in acheivements about it... I'm also runecrafting while browsing many forums to find a good deal on ym p-hat. Fletching was only profitable because I bought unstrungs and strings. Woodcutting was profitable and I made my first million from it within 3 weeks of the release of rs2. I was proud of myself... then I quit until this summer and basically started over again.

To put this in short members has many oppurtunities to make money that f2p'ers dont have. Whether it be herblore, runecrafting, or staking it's possible to make alot of money.

HAH!

Really, you think fishing is worse than woodcutting?

My top five

5.Fishing

4.PKing

3.Fletching

2.Barrows

1.Merchanting

In terms of boredom, I'd say woodcutting is more boring. In terms of profit, woodcutting definatly takes the cake.

Here's my top five

100.PKing

.

.

.

5. Fishing (umm... 60k/hour I guess?)

4. Woodcutting (like 100k/hour)

3. Fletching (200k/hour, if I have enough supplies lined up)

2. Green Dragons (250k+ an hour)

1. RuneCrafting (like 400k+ an hour)

Best PK ever was a rune scim. Lol. My clan dosen't share cause I'm new :(

...BTW, if the original poster would tell me how herblore could possbily be profitable, I'd like to know how. I'd gladly do it; I need to get me level up (47 Herb... I want all 50+s).

Killing salarin gets me lots of herbs and sinister keys.

I also make some cash ranging blue dragons but I make more cash through herblore which is a skill i really enjoy raising.

In no particular order

Merchanting

Dragon Slaying

Pking

Clue hunting

Scamming

Although scamming isnt justified (and no, i dont scam) it is how a lot of people make their fortunes - only to lose it when they get banned an hour later. Personally i find pking to be the most enjoyable :) especially when you have a good day.

well its pretty sad, but 44 rc owns 85 slayer :\ Takes months to get 85 slayer, and a day to get 44 rc, yet in the long run youll make more off crafting nats through the abyss.

Heres what Id think the top 5 is.

1. Runecrafting

2. Green Dragons

3. Slayer

4. Fletching/Woodcutting

5. Rune Mining

maxed out melee back in 06, when it was still considered an accomplishment. same with getting 85 slayer, was in the top 2k players to get it.

first id say oh, 60% of people use prayer pots to do barrows that gives all YOU people $ and all the little wannabe merchants a little cash to mess withy via, some1 who used up prayer pots from someone else doing herblore

d skirt from herblore 3mil cash from herblore torag plate guthan skirt from herblore many special slayer drops while i was potted or whenever from herblore, so dont say herblore doesnt effect you because for the majority of people it does

My main and nearly only way that I use to make money is the Farming-Herblore skills.

I know that other skills can make quicker money, but i simply hate monotonic skills like fishing, wc and rc (though I trained them from time to time. I also hate merchanting - means, to sit all day in a bank, produce nothing of my own, and just utilize other people efforts to make money into more money).

Herblore is indeed profitable. I bought my dragon skirt, dds, dragon med helm, rune boots etc from my herblore profits, and now I am very close to have the money for a whip.

Whats makes herblore so fascenting, is that are many different methods to train it, that includes many other skills. My favorite ways are chaos druid warrior killing trips, sinister keys, and turoths killing trips for herb seeds. I found myself gaining exp in combat, agility, farming, slayer and magic - all via herblore.

thought these were all obvious

1. staking can stake as much as you want big stakes more money..

2. slayer 85 (with abit of luck 3-12m a day and good exp

3. pkin (if your good its great cash killing lvl 90-100 is best money (personnal opinion there in barrows whips etc.. at there lowest def typical is 65-75)

4. crafting natures at abyss or at nat alter with lots of people brining you essence

5. green dragon slaying (assuming you can tele there and back with ancients and glory)

herblore is good money if you gather herbs yourself, but then isn't that combat getting you the money, not the herbs?

If you're buying supplies, you can make some good gp, but unless you get lucky (as many sellers of unids are not trustworthy) you're just going to break even unless you gather some of the stuff yourself.

When I was buying herbs, I gathered seconds in between herb sellers, that way I wasn't wasting any time.

As for top 5 skills for money, I'd say:

1: Rune Mining

2: Nature Runecrafting

3: Ranging blues (if you have 70 agility)

4: Slayer

5: Crafting (if you know what you're doing and don't buy hides)

What do you mean by raging blues if you have 70 agility ? cant think of any place where you need 70 agility to reach blue dragons.

My top 5 are:

1. Slayer (well at least when I played alot made me My first 100 M)

2. Runecrafting ( I bet its even better at 91)

3. Fletching (magic longs)

4. Treasure Trail hunting

5. Mining/smithing/Alching

That list is only of personal experience. I dont include Merchating, pking, staking nad barrows since I never do any of those thing.
