I think the way it functions is certainly balanced, but that does not mean it isn't biased.   In the vast majority of skilling situations the necklace slot is of 0 use, or negligible use (e.g. rabbit

I shall revel in the mighty awesomeness of a whole 56k xp for answering 14 questions because y'know its a great reward seeing as how you can probably get more xp than that in like 1-4 sets of pouches which is something you can do quicker than answer all the questions and turn them in each day (heck even if you just stay in burth and only log on to do questions the timing would still work out worse)

Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills ::  Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA Rewards

Dragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

Disregarding the main reward, of course it seems like nothing.

Except of course if the only skill you have left to train is dg thus rendering the "main reward" useless to you or of course if we are have a conversation framed in the context of the summoning xp reward and therefore my comment was about said reward.

If you head to Burthorpe normally to turn in your daily challenge, it takes an additional 3 ticks to claim a summoning lamp, and 2 to use it.

That gives you 4k XP in 3 seconds, which translates to 4.8M summoning XP per hour.

To reach that kind of XP gain normally, you'd have to be crafting blues using the Taverley method at incredible loss.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Apart from of course it takes more than 0 ticks to open read and answer the question, so it is not a mere 5 ticks making that xp rate over-inflated.

@Mere, okay, that means you could also exceed the XP rate by crafting crimsons at Taverley :P

The time to answer the question can be discounted because it's used to unlock the pet rhinos which give XP boosts. Summoning XP lamps only require you to head down to Burthorpe to claim then, and this can be done alongside your daily challenge.

You can consider the time required to answer the question after acquiring the black rhino, as the only benefit of the questions will then be the summoning XP lamps.

EDIT: Actually, you can answer the question losslessly whilst doing something else in the game, such as cooking/fletching/any make-x thing.

Its not about if dg is your last skill, it's the fact that this up date's main focus is the rhino. Irrelevant to players skills this is the main focus on the update. Also calling out a few more ticks as inaccurate is just semantics

It's keratin. Y'know, like there's a giant toenail on its face.

But semantics is pretty much the core focus of the runescape community... [/sarcasm]

You're not actually serious about this, are you? Surely it doesn't need to be stated that the real purpose of all of this is the rhino which will give you a permanent 10% boost for a whole month. No matter how you cook up a cost-benefit analysis, you can't deny that it is extremely useful. And for what? An extra minute or so in an area you're likely to visit for other stuff everyday anyways?

The real purpose of this is to raise awareness of the plight of the rhino

I am more attuned to their plight already! I am determined to help as much as I can by gaining lots of experience.

also, by bringing it to carry the spoils of all the trips i make to kill all of these other creatures

well, it is a rhino, even five miles an hour hurts when the thing weighs a ton or more

(specifically, adult males weigh 1350 kg/about 3000 lb and females at 900 kg/about 2000 lb)

don't [bleep] with rhinos

I might've only done the questions just for the pet, but I have learnt a few random facts about them I never knew. Like, for instance, being abducted for aliens isn't actually a threat for them!

The answer to tonight's question about how long a white rhino lives is 45 years.
