What's the most powerful non-degradable one-handed melee weapon in the game?

Featured Replies

I get it, you guys don't like the fact that I dislike degradable items, but I have my reasons for not liking them and I'm sticking to them. There is no need to prove further how wrong I am.

And for the record I'm not wrong, I used to have a verac's helm, and got rid of it after realizing how pointless it is to keep an item I have to pay to fix every few hours.

Most monsters I fight are simple to kill anyway.

Please tell me this is the longest running troll/prank in the history of tip.it.

You've continually been given evidence as to why degradable items are more then worth it and the fact that you don't have to repair them that often. You've also been told the best no degradable items and blew people off to the point that it was given to you for free.

I truly don't understand why the fine people continue to patronize you.

How is it my fault that someone gave Bandos to me? I never asked for it, I was gonna buy it myself anyway eventually.

Alright, let's say I repair drygore every four hours or less. How much would it cost me?

If it's nowhere near million, I might take it into consideration.

The reason I wasted so much money when repairing Verac's is because I waited until it was at 0, which took about a week to happen, so that was a mistake, I would have saved more money if I did it more often, I am willing to admit that.

And no, you are wrong in assuming I ignore all advice I get. If that really was the case, do you think I would have changed my mind on Holiday events I did recently? No, I wouldn't. I don't mind that you call me a troll, but saying I'm close-minded and never listen is wrong.

it would be the same price if you repaired it at 80% 5 times (equalling 100% total) or from 0%

the repair price is based on the damage percentage.

and the repair price depends on your smithing level if you do it yourself

at 99 I think the price is halved.

Also, why is it such a big deal that I question some of the advise I get? Apparently according to a lot of you, if I don't agree with everything you guys say, I'm a terrible person.

That is an awful mindset that makes me trust this community less.

I'm sorry, but if you guys are just gonna say everything I do no matter what is awful, and claim stuff that clearly isn't true (such as the fact that I ignore all the advise I get.) I can't trust you.

I am trying to be as nice as possible, and trying to explain where I'm coming from.

Whatever, I'm done with this thread, since I apparently can't question anything without you guys assuming the worst if I don't agree.

With 99 Smithing it will cost you 1.5M + 750K = 2.25M to repair from 0, which is 10 hours of time. So if you repaired it every four hours of combat it would cost you roughly 900K. (If you don't have 99 Smithing, I believe it can be assisted to help?)

"Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Can games be art?

At your smith level, chitin is best, that will cost you around 250k per hour of actual combat for the pair. How that work for a normal hour i'm not sure, but normally i presume you would be using less than that per hour as not constantly attacking though i'm sure wiser folk could elaborate on that.

baileydafrog.png

I'm going to pull some fame but believable numbers out of the air here.

Say for every 500 monsters, you make 1 million coins.

It costs you 1.5m to repair a main and off hand drygore weapon fully, so that is 12 hours worth of combat.

By using dragon weapons, you are only able to kill 200 monsters per hour

By using drygore weapons, you are able to kill 800 monsters per hour

In order to repair your drygores to 100%, you need to kill monsters for 1

If you kill the monsters for a full 12 hours, you will have enough money to repair the drygores 12 times over. However, you would only need to spend 1.5m, so you would have 16m extra that you can buy whatever you like with

So basically with drygores, 12 hours worth of killing something costs you 1.5m, however, in total, you make 18m!

Now lets compare the performance of dragon weapons. They cost nothing to maintain, however are a lot slower.

With dragon weapons, if we stick to the assumption you are killing 200 monsters per hour, you are making only 250k gp an hour.

If you killed the monsters for 12 hours, the same time it takes drygores to fully degrade, you will only make 4.5m gp

This assumes you get the same amount of GP per kill of the monsters, and 800 kills = 1m gold

One other way to put it, if you want to set a goal of getting 20m in pure money,

- You need to kill 16,000 monsters

- With drygores, you spend only 20 hours killing them

- With dragon weapons, you spend 80 hours killing them

This makes drygores effectively FOUR TIMES BETTER than dragon weapons

Any questions?

Thank you all for the help, I know I might have been a bit harsh in my last post, but I legitimately feel like no one in this community genuinely likes me. Which sucks because I try my best to be a nice person.

There is nothing else I can say, I know if I say anything else, I will just be mocked for it. So yeah, I'm done as of now.

To be honest Blaze I don't use degradeable weapons for some monsters. People will just accept it :P

I don't use degradables when doing champ scrolls just because of how easy it is to 1-hit the monsters involved and a large part of the DPS is done by my cannon anyways.

But it's always the best to use your highest leveled gear when doing everything else.

There's a point in the damage stat, just as there's a point in the speed stat, type stat, level stat etc. Just because the dragon battleaxe has a better damage stat than the whip doesn't necessarily make it better, given that it has worse speed, accuracy and level.

That doesn't explain the purpose of the damage stat though.
It shows you the maximum unboosted hit of the weapon.

And don't worry, I'm not ignoring any advise at all, I will be getting that whip in the near future.

You mean other than the drygore advice?

I didn't ignore it, I just don't agree with it, there is a difference.

But honestly it's stupid not to get the highest level weapons, there's no reason not to and the degrade cost means nothing. You can make back money so easily in this game.

But that would mean I would have to stop fighting monsters for a while to cut trees, mining, or something like that, to get the money back for the degraded item, which is something I don't wanna do.

Few things:

1) Skilling is a terrible way to make money... Which is good news! The best way to make money is by fighting monsters... Admittedly monsters that drop good loot.

2) Those "12 hours" as  referenced for Drygore - are 12 hours of combat, not 12 real time hours. Your drygore might last a month - maybe even 2 before you would need to repair them. You could probably pick up enough steel bars from steel dragons to pay for your degrading Drygores.

3) The #1 way that weapons degrade "quickly", is when you die, and you do not 'keep' the items. (Meaning you let them sit in your gravestone until you pick them up). This causes them to lose 10% charge, I believe. Other than that, the amount of charges used are very minimal. This is why by and large, 99% of players have no problem with degradeables. It's not that those players are crazy GP wasters. It's that by and large, the repair costs are very minimal.

4) Dude, you would not believe the amount of damage you would do with Drygores over Dragon. I'm more than happy to trust-trade you drygore maces for a day for you to try em out. That way - if you still want to go back to Dragon - at least you'll be informed of what's out there, having tried it for yourself.

Ok, I trust I don't need to repair it as much as I thought.

I aim on buying a weapon like that after I'm done aiming for my goal of enough money for 50K sharks, because I collect weapons as well.

Nobody needs to give me a weapon, please don't. I will buy a weapon like that the moment I have accomplished buying what I'm aiming for now, I promise.

Also, I am gonna apologize for how I reacted, I had a bad day since there was no prank pull on me, therefore I had a boring april fools day, the worst one yet.

No need to apologize at all - no one here (save perhaps a few?) hate you at all... The reason people get upset is because, admittedly, you can be a little set in your ways - as we all can. The best thing to do is just remember to keep your eyes open, that is -- Runescape has changed vastly - I myself have played since 2001, and 'recently-ish' came back from a 3-4 year quit, so I know the feeling of "whoa... everything is different."

Try looking over this guide as far as money making goes:

http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Money_making

You can also put a 'new spin' on an old technique, to spice things up while still remaining profitable. For example: Dragons? Kill em til the cows come home, but use Magic Notepaper from the G.E. to note the dragon bones and hides. That way you can still camp at a location, and when you go to bank, you have a nice pile of wealth to sit on. (Current prices would give you about 800 gp profit per bone, and 2k profit per Black dragon hide, as Magic Notepaper is about 1.6k on GE)

And if you don't participate in Treasure Hunter, you just might want to start. Getting a Spring Cleaner is an amazingly  awesome piece of equipment from Treasure Hunter. It 'dissolves' common items you get into their subsequent parts. I.e. 1 Rune plate drop would turn into 5 Runite ore and 40 coal (which is worth about 30k more than the Rune platebody itself). http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Spring_cleaner

Only thing you want to keep in the back of your mind is that killing things is the best way to get money, and it is a capital idea to invest in the ability to kill things faster, for more, faster money :)

Holy shit I'm surprised, I'm dealing more damage with it than I ever did with my dragon battleaxe.

It never took long to kill steel dragons to begin with, but now it's even quicker, thanks a lot guys.

And I manage to kill steel dragons now before even reaching enough ability power to use the ultimate ability, which is cool.

It's pretty hard to actually get to use ultimates in melee.

With dual wield, a mix between Destroy, Assault and Slaughter, I never really come close to using any ultimates, same with Ranged, not so much with magic due to detonate being actively bad.

Wow, I'm not just killing steel dragons at a faster rate now.

I'm doing it at a much faster rate, more so than I ever did, ever.

I'm about to kill like 100 of them in two days, while in the past I only could have killed like 20 in that time, so thanks a lot guys.

  • Author

I dont want to be mean but this isn't complicated information. I understand xp rates can be challenging to calculate on your own but why don't you look things up on spread sheets?

Yeah you're right, but the reason I didn't find on my own that I need to find a better armor or weapons is because I was in so much love with dragon armor and my dragon battleaxe, that I couldn't stop using them.

Thankfully now with cosmetic options, I can keep on using these even though I use the stats of something else.

Don't sacrifice xp for fashionscape unless your explicitly playing for that purpose. People were pretty nice to you about this, people on this forum were brutal to Green098 (w/e her name is) when she was wearing inefficient gear back pre-eoc.

If the cost of decent gear seems scary check out some money making guides by asking here or looking on youtube. I think you were saying that you enjoyed combat well good news is that most of decent money making methods involve combat.

Don't worry, I'm not sacrificing at all. I no longer need to due to the existence of cosmetic views.

It is not as much as brutality, but more as mockery/jokingly.
