jagex isnt going to watch every trade just the trades they find suspicious

kirby-sig.gif

actually its not

its LEGAL to drop trade to somebody else but not recomended for many oblivious reasons

what the rules say is : its illegal to trade something from one of ur accounts to another, even by drop trading

uhm it says right there that its illegal -.- and u say its not ? how is that :S

what i say :

its legal to droptrade BUT if u are trading to one of UR accounts

thats not allowed, if caught you will get punished for it, and saying it is legal could be misleading to other users on these boards and can be seen as encouraging to break runescape rules.

They say they have sources? IP Adresses? Maybe made a deal with Ebay

Now, thats the right train of thought right there.

The problem all starts with E-Bay. If you've ever been on there, and done a search of "runescape", there is even different categories. Runescape items, runescape gold, and even runescape accounts.

Jagex does not like hundreds and hundreds of auctions on Ebay with this issue. lol. So, what they PROBABLY did (what I would do) is a few things.

First, they called Ebay management and said that stolen property was being sold on their site, and they would like to know the IP addresses for these auction items. Ebay most assuredly would not co-operate by giving vital information for their customers, especially since someone from England is calling, and would have no legal leg to stand on.

So now, they figure out they'll start buying some of these items themselves to find out whos selling them. You can buy 1 million gp for around 10 bucks on there, but the same people are selling multiple blocks

So, they keep in the shadows, start tracking whos on Ebay, and start compliing their list.

As you noticed, nothing about Ebay was ever said on this announcement. In all truth, its going to be very hard to "track" this situation, so this announcement is basically a bluff to discourage this type of rule breaking.

Over a year or so, I'm guessing that they've compiled enough rule breakers to ban them all at once for Ebay trading.

So, don't worry about giving generous offers. You are not being tracked if you're not selling stuff on Ebay.

Be VERY worried if you decide to buy or sell runescape items/gold of of Ebay. THe person selling or buying may be an undercover Jagex agent. And the person you would be buying from is probably being watched like a hawk.

Now, this is all ONLY AN OPINION of mine, and is not based on any facts. I have no idea, and am only guessing, assuming, and

Bottom Line: If you want to keep your account, don't buy or sell runescape stuff on Ebay. But I wouldn't be worried about giving a noob 500k if you felt generous that day.

A circus in Runescape?? Oh my.

992 Huh? Wow I'am impressed. Jagex blowing smoke again..

the probelm with ppl selling rs cash for irl cash is not solved and it never will be.

even if they tract evry trade in runescape, ppl can give the money away with dueling, the 1 who want to lose will lose in perpeos.

We  sorry but how stupid can you get? im really wondering what kind of people send complaints like that...
if anyone drop trades you better look out cus their watching your every move...

And thankyou for stating the obvious...

Jagex now have a screwed up system, i agree with y2g, they have it all wrong. The system can be fooled, and there will never be a system that is perfect.

Im just waiting for the mass rant about giving away free items..

you can say bluffing if you want but the most notorious merchant in rs history (r2pleasant) is no longer existent on runescape.

I think it's very likely that eBay are cooperating 100% with Jagex on this.

As for the people complaining "omg i'll never be able to give people money without being locked!!!" you're massively overreacting and misunderstand the situation.

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

Ebay stands for a very small percentage of the Rsc-Rs2,Rsc-Rl money,Rl money - rsc mills, Rs2 mills - Rl money and so on. I'd say maybe 3-5%.

What I'd REALLY like to see Jagex go after next are all the players I see with inappropriate names. I've seen people with up to 120 combat who have names that never should've made it past their first month of playing. Especially with the wrongful ban of Limparse, you'd think they'd start taking care of some of these truly inappropriate names (e.g. just today I saw people 115+ with names including "fahqu" or "suxcox")

rofl the last to names made me laugh my head off ! and thats true , how come the mods that met or saw the player did not report ? rofl

I am not scum and I was banned! this is crp I never traded real world stuff fr rs

I don't know how many people know this, but the internet comerce comes under federal laws... ever since the assca complained, the laws structuring arround the internet fall under interstate comerce. Problem, the laws not only provide for civil action by the plantiff for an unfortold amount of estimated damages - an average of total loss - which can be focused on every single defendent in any lawsuit, ie.) remember the college student sued for $2 million a few years ago? It also holds those companies allowing such illegal actitiveties responsible for such actions. ie.) Ebay (or others) where such activity may be present - beit even your isp's - due to providing pop/smtp - are also held liable.

What I'm saying here is Jagex can sue not only the perpetraitors of such act - for an estimate of damages of the whole - but also those who supply the means - ie. Ebay anf others. They can thus command Ebay and ISP's to present any information on such activites they deem inappropriate.
