February 25, 200620 yr We would like to remind our players that it is against the rules to buy or sell RuneScape items for reallife money. We have this rule for three reasons: Firstly because we don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want RuneScape to be just a game in which you can buy your way to success, if we let players start doing this it devalues the game for other players. We feel your status in real-life shouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t affect your ability to be successful in the game. Secondly we cannot see the half of the transaction which occurs outside the game, and if players swap items for external benefits we can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see, to us it looks like an unbalanced suspicious trade. Thirdly, often when players attempt to break this rule and sell items for real cash the items are actually stolen, so you could even end up getting in trouble for receiving stolen property. If you purchased an account you might find it suddenly returned to the original rightful owner and yourself out of pocket. We have recently launched a new tracking system which means we can detect this sort of 'real life' trading very easily. We maintain a list of accounts which are known to sell items in breach of this rule, and watch who trades with them. This means if you buy an item off someone we are watching we will know about it. We would also like to remind players that there are NO official RuneScape gold websites. Even if the site you are thinking about buying/selling RuneScape gold with looks professional, it doesn't mean it's a service we are running, and you will still get banned for using it. In the last week we banned 992 accounts for real-world trading related offenses, as we have very reliable methods for spotting this sort of thing now. We've even had queries from players complaining they didn't receive an item they paid real-life money for - which given it's against the rules anyway seems a strange thing to tell us! So PLEASE make sure you read all our rules, which can be found here. From RS Website Finally more scum banned :P My Guide to Killing Green Dragon Autoers

I think their "tracker" is watching the accounts that has massive gp trades for nothing in return Hmm, you decide to quit and choose to give all your stuff to your best friend. Jagex, thinking you're selling it for real $, bans you and your friend. What was meant to be a gesture of kindness is now...you know...

February 25, 200620 yr umm..that tracker seems a bit unfair imo, now we cant give free stuff away without getting banned? lol three cheers for the selfish! February 25, 200620 yr Hmm, you decide to quit and choose to give all your stuff to your best friend. Jagex, thinking you're selling it for real $, bans you and your friend. What was meant to be a gesture of kindness is now...you know... My thoughts exactly Another thing would be loans- Me and a few friends loan each other money all the time, something 10-15m+, but only because we know each other irl..guess we'll have to start trading it 1m at a time x_x
February 25, 200620 yr they'll just keep on finding different ways to trade $ for gp, it's a never-ending cycle :S
February 25, 200620 yr Probably could easily be gone around by trading a real common item (like a tinder box) for a large amount of money. As long as the transaction involves a trade with in game money for an in game item... theres nothing Jagex can really do anything about. Someone could easily by a bucket for ten mill and jagex technically can't do a thing about it. And it can't be considered a scam if the person is willing to part ways with the GP. So there, problem solved. Jagex's system has been foiled in a matter of seconds.  NOTE: I'm not for real item trading at all. But I really hate it when Jagex thinks they have a problem solved and try to act "uber superior" about it. The problem isn't solved and probably never will be solved. Well... lets put it this way... the only way it would ever be solved is if trading as a whole was completely removed from the game. And that I'm sure will never happen. R.I.P Shiva
February 25, 200620 yr well no more borrowing stuff liek whips and armor from friends :( thats simply doesn't make any sense 1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb. 02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb. 07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.Prayer is good for herbs
February 25, 200620 yr Author Well, I think people are making assumptions on how JaGeX's tracker works...... People will be safe, as long as they don't make tons and tons of cash for nothing or cash for small worthless item trades. Those people who do that are most likely selling accounts or rs geepees for real money. My Guide to Killing Green Dragon Autoers
February 25, 200620 yr a reason to drop trade to your pures or mules... beacuse direct trading they will ban you for real world trade :( Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
February 25, 200620 yr Author a reason to drop trade to your pures or mules... beacuse direct trading they will ban you for real world trade :( Yet drop trading is also illegal according to the Rules of Conduct My Guide to Killing Green Dragon Autoers
February 25, 200620 yr actually its not its LEGAL to drop trade to somebody else but not recomended for many oblivious reasons what the rules say is : its illegal to trade something from one of ur accounts to another, even by drop trading Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.
February 25, 200620 yr umm..that tracker seems a bit unfair imo, now we cant give free stuff away without getting banned? lol three cheers for the selfish! I think their "tracker" is watching the accounts that has massive gp trades for nothing in return yeah thats a good idea.... Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. February 25, 200620 yr Author actually its not its LEGAL to drop trade to somebody else but not recomended for many oblivious reasons what the rules say is : its illegal to trade something from one of ur accounts to another, even by drop trading Well in this instance, i really don't think were talking about drop trading to someone else.... plus thats just pointless, as you can easily just trade the person..... My Guide to Killing Green Dragon Autoers
February 25, 200620 yr i know, but someone said it could be used to bypass the tracker Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.
February 25, 200620 yr People will be safe, as long as they don't make tons and tons of cash for nothing or cash for small worthless item trades. The point I was trying to make is... theres an obvious loop hole that people can (and probably will) use. You simply cannot get banned for trading 10 million GP for something like a tinder box. The only possible way is if the person you are trading reports you for item scamming, and even then that wouldn't stick since they accepted the trade and knew what they were trading (and no one would willingly get scammed). Stuff like this already actually exist in RS. Party Hats are a huge example. They're worth like 1 gp in the shops... yet they sell for millions. There is absolutely no way people can get banned for just that reason. Jagex would literally have to go to these sites acting like customers and get the RSNs in order to have enough proof to justify banning anyone. And I highly doubt they have the time and the man power to do that. So either their so called system is a bluff... or they are simply in denial. R.I.P Shiva

Jagex, thinking you're selling it for real $, bans you and your friend. What was meant to be a gesture of kindness is now...you know... But they probably only ban for repeated trades of this nature - and set ammounts like exactly 1m or exactly 10m ect. However if i was an ebay seller i would simply tell them to put up a brinze longsword in return so the tracker doesnt realise
February 25, 200620 yr I really think people are being too paranoid about this. People loan out items all the time that are worth millions, people have birthday parties all the time and get gifts, people have friends smith or craft for them millions worth of supplies at a time... There's an obvious difference between real world trades and gifts in most situations. Any worries you have are speculation of how their system works, and any loopholes foreseen are as well. Until people are wrongly banned, I'm not going to try to attack Jagex on this, so power to them! I really hope this trend continues with enforcing the rules. Lack of rule enforcement was the primary reason I, and many others, lost interest in Utopia (the game I played before I even knew RS existed). Trust me, no matter what they do to prevent it, people will improperly get banned (and hopefully reinstated), and some people will get by the system, surely, but the fact that they are at least TRYING to enforce these rules keeps the game worth playing. I'd rather a few oversights than needing to cheat in order to have any chance of success in the game. What I'd REALLY like to see Jagex go after next are all the players I see with inappropriate names. I've seen people with up to 120 combat who have names that never should've made it past their first month of playing. Especially with the wrongful ban of Limparse, you'd think they'd start taking care of some of these truly inappropriate names (e.g. just today I saw people 115+ with names including "fahqu" or "suxcox") Proud to have gotten 1800 skill total before access to fishing guild Why make a house when you can rob one?
February 25, 200620 yr this game is truely going down Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.
