March 6, 200620 yr ;) I'm 18 and my parents keep telling me i'm too old to play kids games. I disagree, but then again - i'm very disagreeable ;) RS has no upper age limit, and i think that as long as you enjoy it and continue to gain from it - then theres no problem. Lots of 'mature' :P people i know play Playstations and X-Box, why not Runesape. :D Meh' theres lots of older players on these boards. Good Luck. :D -Gid. Oh, and by the way,its '*Are* there any mature players out there'. ;) 'Rock Hard' boss pure - 60/60 Attack | 99/99 Range | 1/1 Defence | 44/44 Prayer | 99/99 Strength | 99/99 Mage - level 79 combat EOC ## '07 Server ## "Best Runescape update ever: Removing 6 years of updates." March 6, 200620 yr I am sure there's at least a few. All the major fan sites are owned by older players: grin_king, silverion, magey, owners for runehq, etc. btw, it's out "there." All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

March 6, 200620 yr im 43 and feel a little silly sometimes so how about it. Are their other folks out their that go to work instead of school? I could use a playing partner or 2 or 3 ill be waiting for replys. . . . loydrc [/img] lets get it on I'm 34. I started playing because I suspected that my son was playing one day when he shouldn't have been (bad grades). I created an account and was going to catch him red-handed. He wasn't on afterall and I decided that I might as well chop some wood while I was there. Heheh.. Feel free to add me and hit me up if you see me in the game.

March 6, 200620 yr Private chat = Off. ;) Just kidding. -Gid. Hehehe!! That would have totally defeated me too, I would have had no idea. Luckily, my son is only 11 and he's not quite that sophisticated yet (at least that's what I like to think.. :)).
March 6, 200620 yr Im only 15 but I consider myself a mature player, if thats what your looking for. If its just age then probably not me :)

I could use a playing partner or 2 or 3 ill be waiting for replys. . . . loydrc [/img] lets get it on Well, if you are 43, why can't you properly write "there"? And why don't you know that it is "are there any" and not "is there any"... However, I do understand what you mean, and English might not be your native language, but so is mine. I just found it a bit contradictive that you were discussing about maturity, and even the title was full of errors. So, no offence and yes, there should be more mature players on rs. March 7, 200620 yr There are lots and lots of people over 30 who play this game. Probably most of your higher levels are older adults. I belong to a community (not a clan) and we have several adults who have joined. I even know of a woman who is in her 70's who plays RS !! She is my idol. So don't feel silly, there's lots of us here :)
March 7, 200620 yr I am 34 and have been playing since I was 32. I grew up through the whole video game era and have NO embarrasment over playing any game. I am, however, embarrased for any younger person who doesn't know that mine was the first generation to play all developing video games, believe that they alone should/can play video games well, that no one abovetheir age should be interested in games. 1) We are the first Generation, we have more right that they do. 2) We've played more games for longer periods without help, long before there were player guides to allow you to win via walkthroughs. 3) Due to our experience we will ALWAYS be able to school these children. 4) No matter how long child has played a game, when we arrive THEY are the noobs in every game! Sorry children. No matter what, we were playing before any of you were dreams in your parents hearts. And most likely your parents are First Gen players too. Respect them and you'll most likely have an excellent source of info on past games.

I am, however, embarrased for any younger person who doesn't know that mine was the first generation to play all developing video games, believe that they alone should/can play video games well, that no one abovetheir age should be interested in games. Correction, to play the developing video games back then, not now. 1) We are the first Generation, we have more right that they do. Everyone has the same rights, what you said is almost as bad as younger people saying they have more right because they are younger. 2) We've played more games for longer periods without help, long before there were player guides to allow you to win via walkthroughs. Oh come off it, the earlier games hardly needed a walkthrough, as soon as master system and megadrive came out with tougher games walkthroughs appeared. 3) Due to our experience we will ALWAYS be able to school these children. How can you have any more experience in a new game, come straight onto the market than the children that started at exactly the same time as you? 4) No matter how long child has played a game, when we arrive THEY are the noobs in every game! that doesn't even make sense, its obvious a player that has played a game longer has more experience even if a new player comes along that is of a more mature age. Sorry children. No matter what, we were playing before any of you were dreams in your parents hearts. And most likely your parents are First Gen players too. Respect them and you'll most likely have an excellent source of info on past games. No-one really cares about past games though, this post is talking about runescape, not a past game. If you really want the younger generation to respect you then stop going off about how you are so much better than them, for example like you just have now. Its people like you that give mature people a bad name and cause the ageism that exists in game atm. If everyone treated everyone the same then there wouldn't be a problem, the fact is we are all players of the game, reguardless of age, the only experience that matters in runescape is the experience from playing the game, not from some pacman games 20 years ago.
March 8, 200620 yr Correction, to play the developing video games back then, not now. Correction to your foolhardy correction. Games are always in development and we've played them from the start. From their earliest roots to now and we STILL see games developing and evolving Keep at it sonny, you'll gain enough experience to wise someday. Everyone has the same rights, what you said is almost as bad as younger people saying they have more right because they are younger. If this odd statement were true then no one would act as if any MMORPG game such as this should or shouldn't be played by anyone. And as they have an age limit for the game, your statement is questionable. Oh come off it, the earlier games hardly needed a walkthrough, as soon as master system and megadrive came out with tougher games walkthroughs appeared. A word from someone who never tackjled the original Zork games or even picked up an Intellivision controller and wondered how you beat Disk of Tron. Love to listen to the children yapping...ignorantly too. How can you have any more experience in a new game, come straight onto the market than the children that started at exactly the same time as you? Don't you just love when the young discount prior experience with games? As if one game hasn't got its roots in prior systems and game play, or other types of RPGs from past history? As if this game, Runescape, was nothing like any other out there? That's called experience, sonny. When you are older you may have some....maybe. that doesn't even make sense, its obvious a player that has played a game longer has more experience even if a new player comes along that is of a more mature age. See prior answer. This makes no sense to someone without a large gaming background and your argument falls apart when you realize MY gaming experience has resulted in over 4000 games being won. Once upon a time I used to keep track, now it's a waste of time. No-one really cares about past games though, this post is talking about runescape, not a past game. If you really want the younger generation to respect you then stop going off about how you are so much better than them, for example like you just have now. Since the younger generation is as cruel and ignorant as any other younger geneartaion, the nature of being young is disresepct. It's simply how you're wired...and the fact you think you know it all when you're a teen. Failing of humanity. And who cares about prior video games? Game Developers. The people who brought you these games, as well as those of us who have played the priors you don't want to admit existed. Quite a few of them are better than many of the ones the current industry is churning out. And doesn't Runescape have past version? *gasp* Of course they do. Don't care about those? Cool. Another sophomore doomed to repeat prior mistakes, unwilling to look back and learn. Stride forth boldly, eyes shut, learn by each painful mistake...no one could POSSIBLY understand or have been in your shoes after all. *snicker, snort, ROFLMAO* Its people like you that give mature people a bad name and cause the ageism that exists in game atm. If everyone treated everyone the same then there wouldn't be a problem, the fact is we are all players of the game, reguardless of age, the only experience that matters in runescape is the experience from playing the game, not from some pacman games 20 years ago. Final nail in the coffin. Was I reffering to Pac Man? And the agism comes from the younger up. This thread is about how much we hate it and you've shown us EXACTLY why it occurs. Before RS existed there were games just like it, biggest difference? They weren't P2P and set on your browser. Your comment comes from your insistance that no other experiences could possibly apply to RS, no one can know more than you as this game and its premise are completely original. All wrong. SO stay rude, stay sophomoric, stay away from us. When you finally wake up we'll be happy to welcome you Wisdom 101, but until then you're in the noob club forever.
March 8, 200620 yr 2) We've played more games for longer periods without help, long before there were player guides to allow you to win via walkthroughs. I remember buying a hint book for one of the early Zork games. The hints were all invisible and you had to use one of those special orange highlighter markers to make them visible. :) I remember using maps and guides for Bard's Tale. I remember sending and receiving quest walkthroughs via the mail system in the various muds I used to play. I also remember cursing the coders for changing their quests when they found out. I don't remember having a cheat or hint guide of Atari 2600 Adventure. Sometimes I'll chide my son for shamelessly using cheats whenever possible in his games, but when I think about it, I cheated too (and I certainly use any RS guide available).
