I love selling ppl those random things they offer high for.

When I was doing my last alching festival I was in seer's bank the whole time selling to those ppl that buy quest items and laws for 1k. I must have gotten 300-400k by selling about 10k worth of things, lol. I also hyt'd and kept selling her quest items, I think I had like 20 random quest item things in my bank, lol (like planks, ropes, all the random stuff like that). I also did some low lvl merchanting. The obvious things like this one guy sold 10k bowstrings for 100 each. I buy them all, sell them on the forums 170 each. I'd also bought some other cheap ones so I sold like 13k bowstrings at 70 profit each. I don't try hard to merchant, but who wouldn't take up those little options, eh?

One time a guy even added me to his friend's list and was buying quests' quest items for like 50k per quest. Some ppl are so lazy... and that's a good thing because you can abuse their laziness to make money :D

I was going dragon slaying with my friend, and had no lobbies in the bank, So I went over to the east bank and said "Buying 48 lobbies" One guy traded me, but put up 900 lobbies. I declined, saying I only needed 48. We traded again, he put up 900, and I put up 9.6k (for the 48). He accepted both trade screens... That was .. amazing. I gave 450 to my friend that I was going dragon slaying with. :)

Some guy offered me 200k for a page(g)... made him take it down to 50k.

Anyway, I never let anyone overpay me... I don't feel right about myself if I did. Besides, when someone overpays you and finds out latter I'm sure they remember that, may even remember you.

I had a friend one time selling ores a while ago... and the buyer accidentally put up 1.5mill instead of 150k - she took it and then told me all about it as if some great feat she accomplished. To me what she did is the same as scaming someone.

When I got bored I enjoy to be sitting in busy banks, waiting for a good deal to show up or just to sell my spare laws 1k each and I do have quiet a few stories of pretty good deals:

Once a guy offered 5K in Ardougne south bank for a spade. The funniest of all is that the farming shop which sell spades was just north of Arddy. The buyer must have been on a treasure trail or something and teleported right away so I did not feel bad about trading with him...

One other time I was offering to collect-trade random junk seeds from people raising up their thieving in Draynor's market place. A rather high level guy was thanking me all the time for helping him to not drop his seeds. Eventually I was about to leave when he raised up one level.

I did congrat him and he must have just had achieved his goal or something because he said "thank you so much for helping me out!!!" and he gave me all his high level herb seeds, including 5 ranarr, and made my day! 8)

Best deal ever was when this guy kept on following me to get this ring of duelling he was craving for. We had a pleasant chat on the way to the bank and he traded me one cristal key (and quiet a few other random less valuable items) for a ring of duelling.

Unfortunately I was so excited that I did not think of taking a screenshot of this trade. We were both very happy and it was awesome dudes!

Yesterday a guy was in need of a lantern. I offered him both candle lantern and oil lantern thinking he would pick up one of the two for about 1k. He offered a little over 10k in cash and I accepted, lol!

None of those players were newbies. The last one was pretty high level and looking wealthy so I presume they all must have been very much in need of those items or just feeling generous.

I never felt bad about those trades, but rather pretty lucky. :P

The one who bought me two low level lanterns for 10k was probably on his way to kill the new giant mole and knowing all the running involved to equip those lanterns with candle and oil I would not call him an idiot.

The cristal key trade could be more called "idiotic" but the chat prior to this deal was very nice and friendly so I guess the guy really wanted to please me. I said "WOW!" and did thank him warmly before he teleported away.

PS: I am more likely to offer a pretty good deal to newbies trading with me because I dislike to take advantage of new comers and I know that they are often a target for scammers.

To offer them 500 gp or 1k for a chef hat (to enter the cooking guild), a bronze spear (to make scarecrows) or air tally (to make some use of the few hundred tiaras sitting in my bank) makes quiet a balance and is not a bad deal for me as slaying goblins is not my cup of tea anymore.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I sold pirate boots for 5k not long after the new pirate island quest was out. They were given to me by a player mod cleaning out his bank. :D

EDIT 2: I must say I was never the guy demanding crazy amount of gp for cheap items.

It happened that the offer was just a lot more than one could expect, and I simply accepted the trade, or was quick enough to be the first lucky one to trade with the guy screaming "Buying spade 5k" in a crowded bank.

One day I got a greataxe from the Barrows. I was happy, because it was the 2M i needed to get my first Whip. Some guy in Fally was selling whips (and I was really desperate to get one) so I offered him 3.4M (their going price) and he rejected. Then I took some stuff outta my bank to make it 3.8M. I traded, he accepted.

In maybe 20 min, some guys says he wants to buy my whip, and he has a great deal. He offers my Torag Body and Legs, Greataxe, D Scim, Rune Kite (the barrows items were broken). I accepted. Ended up selling those for 4.3M. (And then had to pay 200k to repair.)

I go and buy another whip for 3.4M. That's 700k profit.

4.8 - 4.8 = 0 + 4.3 - 200k = 4.1 - 3.4 = .7

Then in an hour or so the first guy messages me and asks me if I knew how much I got ripped off. I told him the story. He called me a liar, and logged.

----

And I see nothing wrong with paying 5k for a spade. If I need something now, I overpay, to get it ASAP. (Unless I can buy/find one close to a tele spot, ofcourse.)

Two months ago, I am up in edgeville...some guy comes in and is like...

"holy dang, some guy is over in ardougne selling rares dirt cheap, too bad i only had 2m"

So, i check my bank...12m cash. woot. lets see what he has...

go to ard south...

"selling masks, 3m each" (green was 3.5 at the time)

So, i trade...he puts up 3 red masks, (6.5m at the time) and 2 green masks..

*think about it a second...*

"how much for the red masks?"

"3m per mask."

"3 reds, and a green please"

*put up 12mil cash*

*removes 1 green mask*

*accept trade*

*accept 2nd trade screen*

*go to discontinued forums on RS*

*sell 2 masks at 6.3m for quick sales and the green for 3.4*

i always over pay for quest items.

and i mean way over pay.

20k for molten glass 20k for a rope etc.

the way i think of it is i make 300k per hour. so if it takes me more than 4 minutes to get the item by my own means then techniqually it is cheaper to pay 20k
