recent rare prices..

Featured Replies

now im an old school rs player, quit like a year ago when prices of rares used to stay steady for at least a few weeks before they made any drastic changes, but recently as iv slowy weemed my way back into rs iv noticed that rare prices change like every hour or so..

is this a normal thing these days?

no... it's just that with the market being way more instable, for whatever reason, that most the items never seem to have a unanimous "set" price, and if they do, it's not very long, so people just say whatever price they feel like, others copy, and next thing you know that's "the" price till somebody else comes along with a different one.

i noticed this earlier, i bought a green mask for 8m, then i decided it wasnt the right choice, financially, so i decided to resell the same day

when i get to fally, i see like 5 guys saying ''selling green mask 15m''

lol, i was amazed at how players have become money grabbers

thats not all that bad, considering some try to engineer the economy of one set thing, even i have done it on a small short term scale of course.

all you do is put doubt in the mind of merchants and you have great potential.

i sat in fally one day, for a few hours(literally) tryin to buy full verac for 6.1mil, when it was sellin roughly 6.5-6.7 and sure enough i recieved 2 full sets before the day was over. and i bought the full set, not parts, but all four peices off some people who seemed to try and merchant it.

the thing is that if rs catch ne one perposely trying to raise the price of rares and other items they will ban them but how can they prove that that person who started the price hike unless they posted on the official forums about it.

if runescape catch people, you mean the game or did you actually mean jagex?

is this some kind of joke?

They dont ban people for trying to raise prices

The price of rares lower and rise at different times of a day. So at peak times, the price of a rare will be higher than its former price at an off peak time.

However it is against the rules to manipulate prices, so I'm sure somewhere along the way, they have.

rare prices are going up alot faster but they have been about the same for a week or two now with maybe alittle change here and there but nothing major...

- as for the prices changing... people that sell for like 10mill higher are price maniuplaters and just trying to get profit. If you look at the buying prices you will see maybe a couple 100k change during times of days but nothing like 10mill difference.

You should not buy a rare unless you are a money grabber.

Buying a rare, in itself, is greedy. It is not bad, it is greedy.

Not always.

When sig selling was legal, I was going to buy one for 10m. Instead of just keeping 10m rotting in my bank while the sig was being worked on, I bought a rare so it could at least gain a little interest. I don't really need cash, but it seemed like a waste to just keep the money in my bank.

So that makes me a "greedy, money grabber"?

Lol, want one? Your new bloodveld avatar BLOWS compared to the previous one!!! Bring him back!!! He was faithful for so long!!! Lol jk but I do like the old one better.

On-topic:

Prices fluctuate during peak hours, holidays, bad weather, everytime a new item comes out, noobs, liars, manipulators, luck, body temperature, gas prices, and balding pygmies' finding four-leaf clovers. Seriously.

The market is so variable you can gain/lose millions all day long depending on your luck and skill. I would suggest buying at night and selling during the day for the best luck though.

Actually, for the past month or so, Rares have actually been dropping (albeit at a slow rate). This is likely due to the extreme Small Rare Rise that took place in early March, but nonetheless has cost many players a fair amount of money.

Which was my thoughts exactly.

They should get banned, but they wont. As long as people are stupid enough to pay the prices... no one will get banned. And even if people don't buy it... they still wont get banned.

Noticed that, my yellow dropped 4-2m from the last peak a few weeks ago.

Many factors come into play with the rares prices, but as i am not an owner of a rare i am not very educated on them. I was about to buy a red mask, ONLY for the looks not to merchant, but as sooon as i was ready to buy one they shot up to the 10 mill range. Now some people say they are going down so I am waiting.

P.S. If anyone thinks the know something about the prices of masks and santas please post or tell me so at least i know roughly when to buy. Although I knew that no one can actually predict the prices.

rares are for gamblers

- i think ur alittle confuzed. Rares are gaurnteedprofit because they will always rise. It may take it a while to rise above a prise u payed for but it will rise above that.

- If you really want to try something out thats gambling try staking. People bet 1-500mill on a single fight.

Buying a rare, in itself, is greedy. It is not bad, it is greedy.

I disagree with this whole-heartedly because when I bought my yellow it was for pure looks, I never intend to sell (except maybe to get a white) because that's what seems logical to me. I had 90m spare cash just sitting in my bank, why not wear it? Still have about 20m cash left to work on skills with so I think I made a good decision. Accussing people of being "greedy money grabbers" simply for buying a rare is a very stupid and uneducated statement IMO.

As for the price of rares nowadays, I wish I wasn't on a break two years ago so I could have bought a white quicker and settled into a nice routine.

lmao rares arent guaranteed to rise... they will crash again just like they crashed on rsc a couple times.... they will crash again in time...
