"Lock item", "hack" prevention

Hi, I was thinking, if I leave my stuff overnight and somebody "hacks" me, I lose all my stuff in my inventory.

 

 

 

This idea makes it even impossible to lose that stuff (giving you a safe feeling whenever logging out).

 

 

 

You can lock items by talking to a banker (added option).

 

You can select the items you want to lock and the duration (1-200 hours).

 

 

 

When an item is locked it will look like this:

When an item is locked, you can't drop it neither can you offer it for trade.

 

You can refresh a lock on item(s) whenever want, just talk to a banker again.

 

 

 

 

 

When you try to drop a locked item it'll look like this:

It'll also look like that when you try to offer it for a trade.

 

 

 

When you examine a locked item, you will see "This item will be unlocked after x hours.".

 

 

 

Some other rules,

 

 

 

You can't lock stackables.

 

When you use a pickaxe or woodcut axe, and the head is lost, it is automatically unlocked.

 

When you die, locked items are always kept.

 

You can't enter wilderness when you carry a locked item, neither can you enter other places where you get a skull (abyss).

 

You can only carry 3 locked items at a time.

 

You can't use up locked items (like smith with lockes bars).

 

 

 

 

 

Also another rule: when you bank a locked item it'll automatically become unlocked (so there won't be a problem with seperate stacks).

I dont really see the need for it if u go to the bank to lock it then wouldnt you just deposit it instead of luggin that locked item around end then having to go to the bank to unlock it ? it just sounds like a waste of time ........srry for the negitive thought :(

The use of this would be that you keep valuable items from people who "hacked" your account (for example guessed password),you automatically unlock whenever depositing because it could give trouble with multiple stacks otherwise, and the "hackers" can't deposit the item in the bank because of the bank pin (best addition ever!)

 

 

 

The items which would be chosen most likely, are propably expensive armor/weapons (expensive equipable items) which you wouldn't drop or trade normally before visiting a bank..

 

 

 

If you have very expensive armor (for example guthans which is over 10 mill I think) you can now log out with a safe feeling that at least 3 of the pieces are safe.

Good idea, but I wouldn't use it. Heh, I have linux, and a kicked firewall, so I am hard enough to hack. Heh...

 

 

 

Plus ITS JUST A GAME, so If I am hacked, I'll start again and keep playing :) They can take my junk (yes, it is junk) but not my xp

Surely you must realise by now that 95% or more of hacking incidents are committed by friends, friends of friends and relatives.

 

 

 

The other method is by downloading a programm that logs your keyboard and mouse actions. Or by attempting to cheat yourself you give you details to another cheat.

 

 

 

Provided any would be hacker doesn't know your pin, remove any valuables your character is wearing and place them in the bank.... "This Is Called Common Sense."

Yes, storing the items at a bank would give the same effect but often you just can't bank before logging out, and sometimes you are so far from the bank so that you just don't want to bank.

 

 

 

If you walk along the bank anyway this lock option wouldnt benefit you, but often this is not the case...

Not sure if this was posted befor but you can only lock 3 items and those items are the ones saved if you die and you can not be skulled or get skulled if any of those items are in your inventory and no telling to abyss.

 

 

 

This could also alow you to chose what you want saved over another. NO MORE SCAMMERS GIVING YOU 4 SCIMMYS IN WILDY!!!!

You can't enter places where you get skulled (wilderness or abyss), there is some kind of invisible fence in front of it.

 

 

 

When you die, you do keep your locked items, but you can't use this option in wilderness.

well some (one) quests require one to enter the wilderness. Also your clan can have a kbd trip or something requiring you to enter the wildy and if this thing protected my gear then I would sertantly use it in the wildy for the chaos elemental and kbd wich I am far more likly to atack. The fence method wont look right and there are spells that can take you passed it. All jagex would need to do is mod the script for the wilderness that tells a 126 he cant kill a 3 at level 55 wildy. The protect item scrip would also need a minor ajustment so wepons with the locked are a billion gp.

Any other ways to get into skulled areas would be diasabled either, and I don't know anything about scripting, but I think requires them to duplicate every object, but using the same sprite but with other effects.

I really like the idea, everytime I am camping at dust devils with bones to peaches and gonna leave my char there over night, I'm afraid to log on and find myself some abandod (sp) place with no stuff :( It happend once allready -.-

What happens to a locked item if you die from a monster out of the wilderness while you're wearing/carrying it?

 

 

 

Edit: Sorry, didn't see the part where you said "any locked items are kept"

 

 

 

Okay, but the reason people don't wear barrows armour etc is because they are afraid they'll lose it over a less expensive item. What happens then?

zoom in 8 times in paint, learn what pixel goes where. Then draw pixel by pixel each letter. That's how i made my sig, took a while because it was my first (and you'dd notice i stuffed up the bottom of the g or y if you zoom in :oops: ) but with practice it gets really fast.

 

 

 

Good idea, except for the part where you keeep the lock items, loseing items in runescape is part of the game and not meant to be changed.

 

Edit: fishing monks and i get bored fast so i made you a more runescape-ish fake, use it if you want, i just made it because i'm bored to death right now :(

4got my pass: I made it that you keep locked items because otherwise the hacker could let your char die and pick up the discontinued/barrows/infinity with another character and it wouldn't have any effect.

 

 

 

philip kolar: I made that just by dragging the other letters to the bottom and I didnt paid alot of attention to the other ones, but I made some fakes to make this idea look more interesting (you can also understand better what Im meaning now) but nice fake, I also found a fake make guide on sal's, another rs forum just like tip.it (traitor!, traitor!) but I like tip.it better, I'll try to make some better ones as well.

This is necesarry else the whole idea would have much less effect as the most valuable items in game have a low shop value,(discontinued/barrows/inifnity).
