Monk fish are new sharks?

Recommended Posts

To all who dont know what monk fish is.. its the new fish you can fish when you have completed "Swan Song"

They heal 16, and get you a nice 120 fishing xp and 150 cooking xp.

They are faster then lobster IMO and you can sell the burned ones in the general store.. all in all the best fish ever.

But will it replace sharks, sure you need 100 quest points but now you can have 215 quest points so it shouldnt be that hard...

Post opinions here.

sharks = pkers

Most likly no because look at the tune for example that heals more and didnt replace.

Tuna and Sweetcorn Potatoes are hard to make, which makes them unpopular.

These things are easier to get than sharks.

I will use sharks for major things, but these will be nice training and light treasure hunting food.

They will most likely cover sharks as training food (even if Guthans is mainly used thease days) but no matter how cheap they are, unless shark prices goes dramatically upp I still use sharks to KQ and King dags, and no matter what I use sharks to pk.

IMO anything that doesn't heal better than sharks and isn't easily accessible will not replace them. They may in time turn out lobs for higher levels. I'd rather have the extra 4 hp myself. After I do the quest, I may get me a couple thousand to put in between my shark and lob stashes. Monkfish will most likely take over the p2p lob market.

[off-topic] Monkfish IRL is actually a very tastey fish. However it is a very ugly fish. Monkfish aka Anglerfish. Look it up. Try it out if you want. I think it is great [/off-topic]

They will easily replace sharks for anything light duty but will never replace them for important things such as pking or KQing. Since they are so fast and easy to get (over 500 cooked and banked already myself) I think that they may decrease lobs' value because they heal so much more. They will easily be 450 ea and probably 500-550 ea.

im probably going to use these plainly because i can fish them quickly and they heal a good amount, still going to use sharks for pking but probably these for training and maybe barrows to cut down prices of trips.

Another nail on F2P's coffin? If lobby demand dries up for p2p, f2p will lose another supply of gp.

How so? Most p2p lobsters come from P2P fishermen at Catherby or the Fishing Guild. F2pers can support thier own lobster market.

I would rather compare them to swordies?

They give about same exp when cooking as swordies.

If they do get caught faster then lobs then i'll go do the quest about ... err right now lol.

I would say they will destroy the p2p market for lobbies. Because they are very similar in speed and give more xp and heal better. I know I was about to go fish lobbies for some xp, (I don't fly fish because I sell). But now that these monkfish are out I will most likely fish those.

How?

When i PK, i have pots, weapons and runes taking up roughly 8 spaces.

So i have 20 spaces for food.

20x20hp = 400hp

20x16hp = 320hp

That is a huge 20% difference, sharks will not be replaced by these,

Jimmie.

Faster than sharks. And better exp than sharks. Players are going to train there fishing on this.

I still think Shilo Village is where people will train their fishing.

they seem slower than sharks to me;\ i havent done an entire hour testing tho

Fished and cooked 700 and they are either the same as lobs or faster. You probably hit a dry spell like during the quest when it's like 1 or 2 minutes each.

w00t finaley! my dad works as a commercail fishermen and he fishes monk fish, i help him! oh yeah! ps. im talking about in rl life

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

F2P, Catching (50) Swordfish = 100, Cooking (45) Swordfish = 140, Heals = 14

P2P, Catchng (62) Monkfish = 120, Cooking (62) Monkfish = 150, Heals = 16
