Birdd
well lots of people get their own sharks from clues so i dont think it would affect that much for the average joe. sharks have too stable a market to be thrown off like that Very few sharks come from clues, mostly sharks come from.. well.. fishing them  [spoiler=Levels]
captainpoet
IMO these monkfish are slower for me to get than sworfdfish or lobsters, but definately faster to get than sharks whem I'm pigging out on admiral pie, but as for how usable this place would be i do not know, but I'll just stick to my wine drinking and eng pots to get around with abyss rcing, and for range and mage training. Luke
Sharks heal more, and as every good pker knows, 20 hp is better than 16. But they could replace lobs non the less. De_Pk - Level 117 - Banned September 30th '06.
Freshwacka
I would rather compare them to swordies? They give about same exp when cooking as swordies. F2P, Catching (50) Swordfish = 100, Cooking (45) Swordfish = 140, Heals = 14 P2P, Catchng (62) Monkfish = 120, Cooking (62) Monkfish = 150, Heals = 16 Not to mention you have less than a 50/50 percent chance of getting swordfish when you harpoon, thanks to tuna. 99 Crafting Blog

If you are close to a bank you might as well bank them for the cook xp and the possible super healing food. RAHK
I would just like to note to those who did not try fishing monk AFTER the quest: it takes FOREVER to get 5 monks during the quest while you can fish for them at least as fast as lobs after. They are really phenomonal xp for both cooking and fishing. You can beat both by fishing trout and salmon and cooking sharks but this is NEARLY as good as either and by itself is far superior to both individually. Perakp
Yep, as far as i can see, monkfish is better or nearly the same xp as shilo-fishing. And if it was worse than shilo-fishing i would still get very good training food. Monks will not drop sharks from the top, as they will still be the best pking food, easy to get and heal the most. Monks could take over sharks as the cooking training food, but if cookers just trade cooked for raw, that won't happen (because atleast i want to get the better-than-sharks cooking xp and still burn less!) As for the lobsters vs monks, i'd say... monks = better xp, monks = better for training, but lobs = faster to fish.. so i dunno
highlanders
It wont replace sharks simply because of it's low supply. And as it is right now, there is no fixed price, if people aren't sure they can make profit fishing it, they won't fish it, adding to the low supply that the fact the quest has high enough requirements. 2480+ total
Shaunri33
Took me forever to catch those 5 damn monkfish for the quest. But someone said its different then when your normally fishing them? After i get my slayer level im gonna go fish like 2k of these and cook 2k :P I used to use sharks (or guthans if my friend lent me it) vs gargoyles, and nechs, which cost me quite alot of money on sharks. Now i can just fish around 2k of these, save me around 2 mil on shark money and use them (H) Jagex, best update in awhile :P If you have any questions about World of Warcraft or you need an explanation about something, please feel free to pm me. Osiris_ra
I think monkfish will not hurt the lobster market in the short term because of the quest requirments. Supply of monkfish will be low for awhile and thankfully it will be very hard for autoers to fish them. I see the lobbie market taking a hit in the long run as the monkfish market grows, but there will still be profit to be made in lobs maybe 100gp drop in prices at most. stormveritas
If these are tradable and as fast as you say, then say goodbye to lobsters, swordfish, and F2P suppliers. The question is - how much will they cost? I can't imagine they'll go for much more money than lobsters if they are as fast as lobsters. Can't wait to do this quest now, and find out how fast they are! Looks like I'll be eating up my banked lobbies for slayer, and fishing me some monks. Noctis
About the fact that it takes a long time to catch monkfish during the quest, it's probably like that to make the quest a bit more annoying to do. I feel that monkfish will replace fishing lobs and swordfish for xp for the people who do that.

spuriousmonkey
I like making curries for high Healing food. It's rather easy. Every time in end up in lumby i buy all spices and bowls from the food chest. I fill the bowl with water and bank it all. Every time i come in canifis I buy all raw meat. And then I only have to collect potatoes. I sometimes do some farming but mostly I take a load of sacks and harvest them from a potato patch in ardougne. Heals nicely (19), cheap (spices are 290gp or so), nice cooking experience (280) and I don't have to buy sharks, since I cannot fish them or cook them.
