LordSoultar
In 10 minutes of work: harvesting replanting herbs i average on about 30 snapdragons, which i could sell for 7500 each, which is 1.35 mil per hour roughly. You need to check your math on that one. Herbs take about an hour to grow, so 30 snapdragons worth $7,500 each is $225,000 per hour. This is a great way to make money because it is just background cash. You could be rcing while you wait for the herbs to grow. Using the rc and herb growing method I can get around 650k per hour. :)
sessie
huh? i worked for 10 minutes not for all the time the herbs were growing, in fact they grew themselves, i was doing other stuff meanwhile. 225k times 6 is 1.35 mil

That brings the number back down to 225k per hour. Afterall, can you plant, wait for them to grow, and harvest 24 herb patches in one hour? Bloodveld
Trip to guthix tears...then go waste valuable training time for a week...then back to tears.Ditto :D Farming Ranarrs + Barrows ftw :PAlso ditto ;) (I consider barrows to be more of a pleasure thing, and less of a good use of time ;) [now that I don't really need cash]) i can make more money per hour with farming then most can with runecrafting so i guess it isnt that useless how do u do that? r they runecrafting airs? dont get how that works an average herb takes an hour to grow anyway Its quite simple. Even though the herbs take over an hour to grow, there are four herb patches. If you are farming ranarr seeds you get about six herbs per patch, that 24 herbs. Which you can sell for about 6k each herb or make a prayer potion, so total profit of 144k in about 75 minutes. If i am wrong with my math or someone can craft nature runes faster please tell me.I can make at least 1500 nats an hour, which even for 100 ea is still more cash then that :? :^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.Classic bloodveld for lyph3! sessie
Looks like we have a different opinion about time then. If i work for 10 minutes, then i do not work for 60 minutes.

If you define moneymaking by the hour, you have to assume that that entire hour is devoted to the action of whatever skill you're using. Nat crafters are CONSTANTLY running to abyss and back. They spend the ENTIRE amount of time crafting nats. They get whatever amount of money for that hour of work. Herb farmers work for 10 minutes, get a ton of money. You only count the amount of time devoted to the action. And herb farmers aren't dumb enough to stand around waiting for their herbs to grow. They're off doing something completely unrelated. kdb148
First of all, whoever said they can make 2k nats per hour better have 91 runecrafting, or they're lying  Take the 1500 nats per hour people at their word (I don't, but maybe their characters run faster than mine :P ) - in 10 minutes they can make 250 nats; in 75 minutes, they're making 1875 nats. If they spent 10 minutes planting ranarr seeds instead of making nats, they would get 24 ranarrs and 1625 nature runes every 75 minutes. This is a total of $487,500 worth of nats and $144,000 of ranarr weeds (I know RS currency isn't dollars, but you get the point). This is $631,500 worth in 75 minutes, as opposed to $562,500 of straight runecrafting, an extra $69,000 per 75 minutes, or an extra $55,200 per hour combining runecrafting and herb farming. These calculations are made using the most extreme values given - 1500 natures per hour seems impossible to me - and I can plant and harvest 4 herb patches in under 10 minutes. But whatever, if people would just throw some farming into their nature crafting, it's obvious they'd make more money. But no, people would rather be ignorant and dismiss farming as a worthless skill  Check out this cool browser gladiator game!

GulfKid
Well right now I'm getting enough willows to get myself to 70 fletching. I need about 6k more logs, so in between farming trips I'm cutting willows at Draynor. It's good because I can bank for tele runes and ectophial, run west to the patch, harvest/replant then do the cycle and 'Glory back to Draynor. Later, after I have 70 fletching, I'll probably farm during my Abyss runs.

RAHK
Everytime I log into the game the first time that day I pick/plant all of my crops and pick some berries. After that I always do whatever task that I am going for (slayer is one of the best) then repick/plant when I go back to the bank. It is not hard to keep a nice rotation and it is pretty hard to make more cash in the time it takes to pick/plant. Everytime you pass through or tele to a city that has farmable things you should make a point to pick/plant everytime. The xp adds up rather quickly and is FAR from a difficult task. PM me in game to use some skills of mine (glories/potions) free or to ask a question.Fire Cape - 04/29/06 Lvl 104RAHK's Pro PC Gear and Guide(clickable) Tired of hack and slash? FPSers getting old? jabraulter
Step 1- Thieve a bunch of seeds...go until you have at least 15 ranarrs. By then you should have enough seeds for a while. Chances are you will have obtained a bunch of other herb seeds. Step 2- Plant 'em. Step 3- Log off. Do homework. Watch 24, House, The Simpsons, Family Guy. Browse forums. Look at clock and notice it has been 1.5 hours. Step 4- Log on and collect herbs (I only plant herbs, so I know the time...I do not need to water). Hope that they didn't die. As you pick, supercompost and plant new seeds before you leave. Step 5- Bank and smile as you notice you have collected 30 herbs from 3 seeds. swampjedi
I plant 4 sets of herbs - 3 I can afford to lose, and one good one. I bind my nature amulet to the good one. It's also the last one I plant. Then I leave and go do whatever. Currently it's spinning flax for 80 craft and 99 fletch. When the nature amulet thrums at me, I go pick. This method has taken me from 75 to nearly 81 farming. I used to do limps, too. Yeah, you may get more cash per hour runecrafting - but I can do 2 skills at once. For a skiller like me (and the original poster), that is the deciding factor. This is the result, so far. I've sold 1k avantoe, too. Ranarr, Toad, Irit, Avantoe, Kwuarm, Limps, Snapdragon, Cadantine, Lantadyme, Dwarf. All not for sale, they'll get me to 85 herblore. sjefderat
I loved most of the comments. I agree: farming is great experience when you walk away from your patches. When you get your own seeds (from masterfarmers or ogres, moles, specters, mossies, dagannoths...) it is great herblore and cash. When you grow corn it is even great cook exp. I love cutting my mage tree in Falador world 2 while looking for a good deal on something, it gives you time to reflect about the deal... Mining, agility training, fishing, woodcutting on high detail, waiting for the buzz of your nature ammy telling you that your first patch of your farm round is ready is actually more fun then without it. I do not like abyss rcing while wearing ammy, so i do not do that, but sometimes i make fires or airs (always usefull) while farming. Another obvious pastime is gathering secondaries for the potions that you wanna make.
