The nubmer 666 translates to the Roman emperor Nero through Hebrew numerology. You are right about it working for Nero as well, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything divine. Revelations isn't the only place in the Bible that makes a reference to the number. In the Old Testement, when David faught Goliath , Goliath was described as being 6 units tall, his armor weight [6]0 units, and his spear tip weighed 16 units. (I don't remember the exact Biblical units and me can't find my Bible right now :P ) Then there is another story in the old Testement where a King builds an idol he wants everyone to bow down to. The idols' dimensions are coincidentally enough, 60 x 60 x 60. Moving back to the original subject, why would a book written about an Eastern culture fortell events based upon the Western way of thinking? By that rationale any number that contains a 6 is candidate for such speculations. OMGOMG!!!111 I just realised: 2^16 is 65536! That means that if we omit the 2, the 1, the 5s and the 3 we have got 666! 16 bit integers are CLEARLY divine. If we revert back to 16 bit CPUs our machines will magically run faster.
