malo2
alot of other fan sites/forums have their own highscores that only lists the members on their site, so wouldnt it be nice to have tipit highscores? so we can compare ourselves to other players here. Mirror
It is a good idea, but they would have to find the time, find the names of everyone, sort everyone out, type everything out. It just gets real messy. If someone was to go on this endeavor, oh my, I would give them a standing ovation. But think about this, how often will you use it? Would it be worth the time and effort, and so many people keep joining, you would have to keep on adding new people. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind. Just add another field to people's profile and they enter their rs name, then get the tip.it server to attack the runescape.com server to look up all the highscores. The problem with that is that there's no way to prove people are who they say they are (loads of people would register their name is Zezima) unless tip.it staff individually verified it in-game, which would be a pain. Also, its' very resource hungry, with not much purpose really I don't think. Overall, thumbs down from me. Where the bloody hell are you?
BloodAngel
It would be a cool idea. The only way to stop people all putting their name as Zezima would be to make it so a name can only be entered once onto the database, but then if the real Zezima came along then he wouldn't be able to register. But if a way is found to combat all this then I am all for it. -Bloodangel "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."

Ks_Jeppe
So you want the server up keep track of 90k usernames? No way my friend... This has been discussed between Albosky and me some time ago, and i can tell you, the 40k usernames there's updated on RSHSCtake more than half of the resources my dedicated server has, and it runs for almost 7 hours just to update those 40k... Having something like that on the Tip.It server would kill not only our server, but also the Jagex server... I am sorry, even though it would be a nice thing to have, it's simply not posible with the massiveness of this site...
Goobore
So you want the server up keep track of 90k usernames? No way my friend... Then just keep track of the top 200 players. Once the top 200 list has been put together, it could be maintained easily. Players would post in the thread new names or changes and the list would be auto-updated, maybe, once a week. But, just out of interest - How do you think RuneHQ manages it? :? -Gid.I wasn't aware RuneHQ had this feature, feel free to link me up if you can... I'd very much like to see it... Then just keep track of the top 200 players. Once the top 200 list has been put together, it could be maintained easily. Players would post in the thread new names or changes and the list would be auto-updated, maybe, once a week. Then you might as well do it manually, and we still don't have any way of 'proving' that the people are who they are... Furthermore, there's people on the boards like Zezima, N0valyfe and other high-level/nigh-attention people who don't wish their Tip.It account names conprimized... And if we don't put them on, we'd have an overflow of "But person x has an account here as well, you should put them on!"... The only way i see this list being made is for someone to make it on RSHSC and then manage it, i do not see it being anything 'official' Tip.It feature, it would require simply too much manpower to keep it updated, and make sure that the people who post are indeed who they say they are... Well, I was sure I remembered something like this - however i've scoured there site and my search came to nought. However, I did previously use to be a member of 'The Official Runehq Clan' and I logged my 'Clan friends' account in there, and found they have a Hiscore section. Here's a linky. http://rhqclan.com/forum/index.php?autocom=hiscore :) I knew I saw it somewhere RHQ related. -Gid. xn00bxfrei
Maybe somebody that has connections to Jagex would kindly re-submit my idea to implement RSS or text-only highscores. Seeing as how many fansites use the RS hiscores for various reasons (signatures, calculators, custom highscores, etc), it would benefit Jagex as well as the other parties. Clearly, it would use a lot less bandwidth (and processing power for third parties) for Jagex and all fansites. I really don't see a disadvantage for Jagex to provide a text-only version of the highscores, or XML/RSS version. I think it would be kind of neat, and enable people to do new things, like this tip.it highscore idea.
Satenza
Bleh, if you really wan't to compare your highscores with someone from here just use the RS site to do so. This is way too much to unload on the admins when its really just a shortcut to what the runescape site does already. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

The real issue here is that with our servers, and our site, we cannot do it... You must remember that Jagex is a company earning money all the time, where Tip.It instead is strugling to make a payment every month, we COUNT on you guys to help out and support us to stay alive, if you don't, we wont... point of this: Jagex has the money for super-servers, we have the money to keep the site running (at least for now), but not enough to actually make a buy a new server only for this (and yes, it would take a new server, since the servers we have already are getting maxed out)
