Wow, Sony is a dumb***.

Good thing I never liked PS2 too much.

Meh, even if the rumours that Sony might be planning to go through with this were true at some point, they definiately won't do it now. Every company knows that the availability of second hand games is an important way for gamers with limited budgets to use their concoles. It's brand expansion even if they don't profit from second hand sales directly. I don't think I would enjoy my Gamecube nearly as much if I couldn't occasionally pick up an 'old' game like Eternal Darkness for ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì5.

yeah, it was a big rukus on a few other sites a few days ago. the marketers at sony would know better than to do something like that, it would completely kill the renting aspect of games.

Has anyone actually read anything other than the first post? I posted a link to an official statement from Sony saying that this rumour is NOT TRUE.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

Even if the rumour was true (which it isnt).

I would still get a PS3, as it is far better than a WII.

It wouldn't have affected me, as i dont buy second hand games anyway.

First, there's a rumor floating around (wildly unfounded at the moment, mind you), suggesting that Sony will sell licenses for PS3 games. Basically you're paying your $50 for the license, and the actual software, digitally downloaded or a hard copy, is just a distribution method. This is to prevent the sale of pre-owned games. Amen, I say.

I believe the pre-owned game industry hurts gamers. Retail outlets buy these used games really low, and sell them really high. I've seen pre-owned games on sale for like $3 less than a brand new copy. $50 for a used game they probably paid $20 for. $30 profit, and the video game companies don't see a cent of it. In fact they've lost a potential sale.

Video games nowadays cost nearly as much to make as blockbuster movies. They're getting expensive, and between pirating and the pre-owned games market, it's getting harder for companies to recoup the expenses.

I know this is controversial. I know a lot of you are saying "But if I buy pre-owned, I can get games cheaper". Well yeah, if you're only looking at the here and now. But if half the consumers are waiting and buying the game used, then the game companies have to charge more on the original sales just to break even. And then the retail outlets are going to see a higher price cap, and take advantage of it to charge more for the used games. So over time you're contributing to increased prices across the board.

This rumor isnt true but Sony still copied the Wii's controler. It is nowere close to as good as the Wii but they still copied it. Aparently they only anoucned it to the game developers less than a month before E3 so most did not intregate it. Of the next gen consols, Wii is the only system that has introduced a revolutionary concept, the others only bosted their power or copied.

and acording to one website (of which the link i have lost) the blue-ray format of 'house of flying daggers' at E3 was actully being run off a DVD-R.
Yea, I believe you're correct.

There's no shortage of sources for those types of claims, most of which do have enough proof to support them.
