jagex blocks your pass : the solution

Featured Replies

After much heated thought, I have come up with a highly complicated way of stopping the old scam ' Jagex bloacks your pass *******'

Le answer is... Jagex stops the asterix! Now I dont mean that they stop blocking offencsive words etc., but if they do a little change to the game code so that the player is unable to place an asterix in their text, BUT all blocked words are still asterix'd, this scam shall be dead, and we will have many less attempts at this kind of stupid trick

and also if the block the word 'f4', that would be another scam down the drain

just a thought

Back by popular demand!

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

Wouldn't work.

They could still write: "Look, Jagex blocks your pass: *Any censored word*"

or maybe if a person types * it comes out maybe a different colour, or format something along the lines of that then you would know the difference?

Or, they really could censor your password. That would work! I'm not sure how hard it would be to program it but, hey, it's an idea!

they could actualy just censor it. Then there would be no problem

except alot of these newbs would make their password like lobster or rune body something like that

When I see someone type: 'Type your password, it appears as stars! Look: *****

I just type ***** to annoy them.

Do that and you risk being banned. It has happened before.

As people have said, your idea unfortunately would not work. This idea has been run before, and it seems at the moment, that scammers are going to get away with it.

How could you be banned for that?

It has been seen before that people get banned for scamming or assisting a scammer by doing things like this. Run a search and see

Whenever I see somebody trying that scam. I just say a random word like runescape112 then say Hey! It didn't block it!!! And then they log out.

That's one of the good ways to counter that scam. As long as you report them before doing it, so they don't get away with it by logging out.

That would just make things complicated. When you misspell a word an asterisk is commonly used, Example:

Hey how's it goig?

*Going?

when I see someone say that I go

me: gully123 (or something random like that)

me: OH NO!!! I GAVE AWAY MY PASSWORD IM SO STUPID!!!

Tehe, it makes me laugh when they log out.

Edit: I didnt see marcleys post

Edit2: Arcley

i dont really understand why would some1 try writing there password...

i mean even if jagex blocks it why would anybody wirte his/her password...

Because some people, if not most people would want to try it for themselves. Its like, if you see a wet paint sign, you just want to check, as if to make sure. Its a wierd part of human nature, curiosity. :D

What if the whole line was blocked if the words "Jagex", "blocks", or "pass" is used in that line.

Like forum text games much?

um... from... MARS, yes, in the third county from the... left.

its like a train reck, you want to look away but its impossible.

There are way too many loopholes to actually, completely prevent this scam from taking place, however if someone falls for it and actually types their password out...then they deserve to get scammed

LOL. When I first started playing and saw that scam, I knew right away what they were trying to do, but yet, I just couldn't resist. However, I did it the smart way. I walked to another town, went into a secluded upstairs room and tried it there.

It's like the whole "shave-and-a-haircut" routine from the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Many people just can't resist.

As for the actual idea of blocking asterixes, wouldn't work. Typing a bunch of inappropriate words would get around it.
