It's people like you that generate haters to the US team.

Do I hate England? No

Do I hate Ghana? No

Do I hate Italy? No

Do I hate US? No, but I hope they lose, for you to shut up.

Based on the past 8 pages, I know I'm going to sound like a total idiot, but I'll say it anyway.

Games with low scores tend to be characterized as the most boring.

Let's see: European football (soccer), baseball, and hockey.

They're all dangerous and all that in their own way, so I'm not saying the players are "less manly" than others, but that's just the way I view it.

I'm currently transitioning from a Wizard to a Mage and a Priest to an Archpriest. Lol both are nonexistant in the top 25. Hopefully I can change that. :D

Maybe it has low scored because IT'S HARD to score...

I just wanna hear from all my "playa hatas" out there, What was the final score of the USA, Italy game :P  . And you said that we are worse than Ok, we just tied one of the premier teams AND we have a chance to make it to 16.

Italy beats Czech

USA beats Ghana and we are in baby!

You realize that we only 'tied' Italy because of Cristian Zaccardo's own goal? I could say that the US is playing like crap, but that would be an insult to crap.

That would leave only... Basketball?

I wouldn't say American Football has excessively more scoring then baseball or hockey, If other sports counted every goal (touchdown...) as 6 points then their scores would likely be similar.

Mind you the need for counting each goal that high is only in American Football due to field goals and the likes.

----

I personally would never have considered the US dominant in most sports. But they do have the occasional good athlete in a some what wide range of sports that individually may become dominant in his or her own sport.

Games with low scores tend to be characterized as the most boring.

One of the stupidest things I've ever read, no offense.

And Phil asked us to stop talking about whose sport is better.

Yes, anymore about which sport is better and this will get locked. I've already cleaned it twice. This is not what the original poster wanted.

You people don't know what faith means. And a goal is a goal. So get over it. It is true. An own goal, it still is worth 1 point, not worth half a point.

Yes, but then again I caused it =D>

If low scoring = boredom, explain cricket.

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.

Since with scores in basketball hits 100s, does it make it THAT exciting?

Explain why a re-run of CSI-Miami is on par with the finale of this season's NBA in terms of people viewing it.

What's your point? Please, tell me.

I said that the US was playing terrible, an assertion that has been backed up by their performance in the 2006 World Cup. Do you dispute that? If so, where's your evidence?

Today, while the Ghana vs USA game was happening, ESPN internetonal was broadcasting the Wrangler rodeo. I don't think the USA deserved to win if the rodeo was more important...

That's a bit unfair. If success was merely determined by fanbase, Mexico or Holland would win the FIFA World Cup every year.

What are you talking about? On ESPN & ESPN2 both the Czech and USA games where being shown, with like an hour of commentary afterwards. When did ESPN international become an accurate display of what is going on on American television?

The thread starter have, several times, said nobody cares about football in the US.

Anyway, you both got my point, I'm pretty sure. I'm not saying ESPN I is an accurate display of what's going on on american tv, I'm just saying you have plenty more sports to watch, this way, there's not as much interest as in other countries.

Oh, and Bubsa, FIFA World Cups happen every four years :P

I think there are plenty of people in the US who like soccer. All the highschools around here have soccer teams and students go to the games. Also there arnt many kids (who I know) around here who havnt played in an organized soccer league at least once before. ( I even scored 3 goals in a game when I was in middle school :D ). I know that professional soccer is not NEARLY as big in the U.S. as it is everywhere else, but some people make it sound like soccer is nonexistant in the U.S. and thats not true.

Just wanted to clear that up :P

And has anyone also realized that, thus being so hard to score, how ELECTRIFIED the crowd gets when one is scored. Do you see how AMAZING half of these goals are. Lookie here, im not a big soccer/international football fan, however i am truly amazed by the world cup, and i believe it's a SHAME that international football isnt as highly celebrated as it is in other countries. If more emphasis was put onto international football, then the kids of america would look at the game and say "Hey, i want to be like that guy" or "Hey this game is really good". I think that the US National team needs to get that SUPERSTAR calibur player. That Ronaldo, that Pele-esqe type of player. A seed needs to planted amongst the youth of america if the US ever wants to be a dominant sports country and it HAS TO BE DONE NOW.

Oh and off with Bruce Arena's head! He failed to plant said seed, he should fired and exiled to Siberia.

One tip, don't scapegoat one person for a team's failure. I've seen it done and it's not very nice.

Now on the part about "planting the seed". to gain the pele-esque type players. Good luck every country has been trying to do it for the past 50 years and only a couple countries out there succeed.

But yes, I believe there is mucho potential for football in America. From what I've read & seen of it in America, it is still under-developed. For example the MLS ave. attendance was only 15k the last few years.

If it becomes more popular I think USA can become one of the top teams

sig2ho7.jpg
I think USA can become one of the top teams

That may be the problem. Americans are used to be the best and win everything, they want to be the best in football too. When they realize they are still an average team, they lose interest.

Wich is a complete different situation than, for instance, the japanese or the australian team. They realized it would be a victory if their team reached the 16s, or the 8s, and were happy by being in a World Cup.

But americans, it seems, thought they had a team able to win the World Cup, this way, being defeated in the 1st round just makes them think the sport is dumb.

Just my opinion.
