runekille156
i think they should make the old nite a npc in a very good and hard quest with him as the main character and then he will truley never leave runescape and he will have his combat lvl being a very nice person to you like he was in real life and Anarith was a very well known tip it events team member that was very nice but he died  http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/chara ... NukeMarine
It's well known isn't it? Technically? No. It's entirely possible the owner of the Old Nite account is not dead. Person's lying about their real life selves is documented in Online Games. Now, I don't doubt the owner is dead, but the chance is there that it's a hoax. Either way, it's not for Jagex to alter rules for one player that'll set a precidence for others. Don't be an idiot..We know he has certainly passed away..Theres a Tip.it Times about and all.. Don't be an idiot? Ad hominem aside, yes I read the article on Tip.it but Tip.it times has made a retraction or two in its past (the one about banning players unfairly comes to mind). I'm stating a problem with the online world in that you pretty much have to take for granted what people tell you about themselves. Without knowing a real name, address and death announcement in a paper, you're taking another person's word on it. Five years ago (I may be wrong on this) an article appeared discussing the apparent suicide of a well liked player (not Runescape) who was a 16 year old girl. Further investigation (my guess is using usenet postings) revealed that the player was actually a man in his 30's making up the entire persona. Like I said in my post that you quoted, I don't truly doubt that The Old Nyte is dead. Still, I have skepticism that's natural with the online world that brought about the rudist in people due to the anonimity the net provides. Even myself, you could find alot about my personality by looking up my name due to alot of usenet postings by myself. Still, that's limited only to what I write and if I'm honest in my postings. That's assuming I'm the only guy that goes by a nuke-marine or nuclear marine moniker, which is not very likely. Taito2004
Same here, i've seen a lot of people posting with the name taito on forums.. and a couple of them have seen my name on either rs, or on here, and liked it. :P lolz.. anyways, them people could try pass off as me, and no1 would know the difference without knowing me in person? :P 92/99 Fishing | 119/120 Combat | 92/99 Firemaking | 94/99 Fletching | 1878/1900 Total | 85/85 Slayer | 80/80 Prayer

Either way, it's not for Jagex to alter rules for one player that'll set a precidence for others. Unfortunately, friends of The Old Nite, and his SON have confirmed his death. If you even read the Tip It Article, the person who wrote it is also friends with his son, I'm sure that this all would have been confirmed. Because then there wouldn't be an article on it. So shh. And I doubt Jagex would put The Old Nite's name in brackets in 2nd place due to passing away because they don't give out personal information, they would have to contact the family of Nite to ask for permission, it is possible, because he was such an influential, legendary, amazing person. seawarrior1
i think there should be a new (how do you call it) section (?) in the hi scores with them who are passed away or did a gr8 achivement on rs, like a hall of fame or some thing like it and that is would be in the list of the hi score with total lvl, attack, defence, ect but ist a gr8 thought to keep these players remembered RIP the old nite
bigmoneyak
I believe that once jagex gets wind of his passing the will mercilessly remove him from the high scores altogether. Thats that happend to shiva anyway. I suggested that tip.it takes thelead and makes a RS HALL OF FAME. My topic, as always, is forgottn and my idea failed to gather any support. I guess the only way for me to get anything done is to do it myself, unfortunately I'm not qulified or prepared to do that task The Slayers Guild a Slayer Clan led by Axe Man Jack Proud to have written the most plagiarized Slayer guide on the planet. tomdavies90
i reckon they should put his name on a bench somewhere in runescape or have a pic in the legends guild which examines and says the old nite but the highscores thing wont happen, the only thing that might happen is they don't delete his acc from highscores like they did with shiva when he died Sig by me.... dilts
lets say i die tomorow, would i get my name put in the game, probably not. So why should the old nite get special treatment over all the other passed away people who played runescape. I dont think Jagex would do it, because it might be disrespectful to all the other passed players. because just because they didnt play for as long, they get nothing
ValaraZ
If they did anything, it would be to remove him from the high scores - at least that's what they did with Anarith. I don't see Jagex honoring him or anything - it's not like them to. I disagree, a very long time ago andrew posted on game news about a players death. not like i remember the name or anything but they did tell what had happened to him and his real life first name. possibly his rsn as well. but this was in the past before neopets etc took over. Itsjustagame
Yeah.. or maybe a quest or something where he is one of the characters? (Well obviously not him, but someone using his name, who looked like his character) Obviously asking his family if they approved first. other people have died too you know
Cicdolfin
I think anyone that cares will remember and will not need to be reminded by him being placed in the #2 spot. If this did happen everyone would be asking for passed away peopel to have their spot saved. This idea is not very good, even if the Old Nite was. Adapt to your conditions, don't cry about them. ebuka
I reckon they should keep it where it was in the highscores but say, in brackets under his name, passed away at spot #2. Or something i agree

andreynoobyperson
Like it or not, stating that the owner of the account has passed away is giving away personal details. Jagex will not do that. Fansites can do it, but I doubt Jagex will. Jagex posted about a random player being suicidal because of RS. Jagex posted about two players meeting each other on RS but then getting married. WHY NOT THIS?!
drk_killer
the high scores is a place to see who are the top players in the game not who "were" the top players in the game. also its a bit like saying i quit rs put me in the top 20 but put brackets saying quit Dragon drops - 2 visage drops- 1barrow drops -
monkfish101
i think putting him in a quest is a great idea, maybe a new white knight one? just have an npc called the 'The Old Knight' (i know he spelt it nite) 40 Barrows trips, 4 Barrows equipment (Guthans Helm, Veracs Helm, Ahrims Skirt, Dharoks Helm)
