How summoning will kill off macroers- for good.

The year is either 2001 or 2002. You choose.

You see a level 3 uncerting lobs in a macroed fashion; you unleash the power of summoning to kill him. He drops dead, and you pick up 1000 certs worth 5000 lobs; alas, you are now justifiably 1 million gp richer :P

This is no false tale.

There used to be a bug via the restless ghost quest; a player could pick up the skull needed for the quest, drop it on the ground, and a lvl 13 or so skeleton would arise and be agressive (well, all NPCs were mostly aggressive then anyways.)

Many people (that were bored, i may add :P) used this bug to kill many macroers in RSC's hey-day.

Now, think about this...

If summoning will be anything like it should be, it will be Random Events done right.

Yeh this isn't how its gonna be, if we can use the things we summon(who said you could summon monsters?) on people it will only be in the wilderness or in a PVP spot.

possibly, but no one know for sure. Just speculating :)

Cool, idea. But I can see it being used against non-macroers also.

ex.

I'm (insert non combat skill), where I don't usually have armor or weapons on me. Someone else comes along, "Get outta here, I want to (insert skill)." I refuse to leave, they drop down some monster on me, forcing me to leave and come back, until either I give up or they run out of (whatever summoning will use).

Or even people unleashing something(s) in a large crowd (world 2 fally, anyone?).

As cool as your idea is (and I'd really like to see some macroers be put down ), some other uses of that would only act to encourage the scammers and/or selfish people, that aren't quite good enough to be able to play the game correctly.

If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.

I understand that it's not confirmed, but I was asking the original poster how "summoning will be" as he stated "summoning will be anything like it should be anything like it should be".

Totally agree; however, if this direction in summonin was going to happen, I think Jagex would tinker with the balances and whatnot, and make it work. I can't relaly imagine anyhting too strong being summoned and if there is going to be greater demons and what not, I'm sure it will be thought out by Jagex.

Good ol rs1 viewpoint. :P

I do like the thought behind it, and I at first thought it would be a good idea since it would only hurt level 3 autoers assuming you coudl only summon low level things in such places, but remember that there are all of those level 3 pure skillers that this would mess up. If there was a way to combat this, maybe have a very expensive summon-proof amulet that makes summoned monsters ignore you that every auto couldn't be equipped with, then it might work.

[joke] Yeah, I know. But when has jagex ever listened to or cared about a few players, let alone the masses [/joke] But in all seriousness, really, it is true. Haha.

More than likely, if PoH and Durial is any indication, theres a VERY good possibility of this happening if/when summoning does come out.

Will be a shame, but it will probably happen, and then we can all put a new "hero" into our sigs.

Yay!

I like the idea, but i think it would be horrible if done like that...mainly because half of RS has the mentality of a 5 year old and thinks its funny to annoy every person they can. I can already see someone summoning a lvl 15 NPC countlessly over and over again purely to annoy someone. It may not be dangerous, but it would definately annoy people to no end.

but, if jagex found a way to balance it, it would be interesting...something like limiting the number of timesyou can summon a monster on someone, or osmehting like that.

I would love to do it to autoers, but people would also do it to the lvl 3 skill totallers and they dont deserve to be punished for playing the game their way (i dont see the point, but everyone likes things differently)

Sykoknight - 1900 skill total - 132+ combat

Fighting High Scores from late 2001 - Ranked 1894

Prayer High Scores from March 2002 - Ranked 749

Ya, I've been around too long.

I don't get why people are discussing this suggestion as if it was even a remote possibility :P

There's no way Jagex will deliberately make it so you can kill players outside of Wildy.

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

There are evil people out there. How would you like if army of bad people would go to Lumbridge and summon steel dragons to kill these new players on the spot? Even worse a steel dragon army killing off people in cities just training their skills. It would be horrible.

Ralvn, it wouldn't come true, it would probably be MEMBERS ONLY.

Soz man, yer missin the point, as many are :P Of course Jagex would never give anyone the power (or THAT power) to do such a thing.

Na see, there's a difference between killing macroers and legit players.

The only real argument here is the level 3 skillers, and why anyone cares about them, I have no idea. I'd rather better my experience for playing the game teleologically than being penalized for someone that isn't.

I hope I'm not sounding arrogant in these responses

Well heres an idea from the legend himself......

JAgex c ould give all the area's of Runescape a symbol whether summoning can be done in this area or not... Kinda like the skull or crossed swords resembling the wilderness and multi combat zone. Obviously Fally would not get this...
