The Unofficial Guide to Merchanting [Need quick cash? Read!]

Featured Replies

Merchanting is one of the many ways to make money in RuneScape. This guide will tell you where, how and when to merchant certain items. I used this method and I'm making decent amounts of money within half hours, hours, etc.

To Start Off:

ONE of the following:

Dragon Dagger (s) (this is what I used)

Rune Plate (be ready to be massed by f2p's)

There are of course limitless items to use. I find these two the best to start off with.

DRAGON DAGGER (s)

1) (if you don't already have one) Purchase for 55k (most people say they want more, but they'll eventually sell. Just dont give up)

1) (if you have one) Use the banks in Falador or Seers Village to your advantage. Varrock West bank is okay, but there are stronger players around these parts. (At least what I've found.) Say "Selling dds!" or along those lines, and do not say the price. When someone trades, tell them to offer. They may offer from 50-55k. Sometimes (not often) they will offer 60k+, depending on how long you wait, watching them say "BUYING DDS OMG!"

2) Once you've sold the DDS, you will make a profit range of 5-15k. Simply repeat from step one, and after a bit you'll be able to by another DDS. DO NOT START MERCHANTING TWO DDS'S AT ONCE!!! You will quickly go back to where you started.

RUNE PLATE

1) (if you dont have one) Purchase one for 60k in Seers Village bank or Falador bank.

1) (if you have one) Go to a popular f2p world (most likely 1, if you can get in) and say "Selling Rune Plate" Don't say the price. Someone may offer from 65-70k.

2) Accept the trade, and repeat from step one. This gets you about 10k profit each time. You can always buy another Rune Plate for yourself when you make enough money! SAME RULE AS DDS, DO NOT START MERCHANTING TWO AT ONCE.

I hope this little tutorial on how to get started helps some people get a little bit more cash. Remember, you can do this with any item.

Good luck, and if you start to lose money, stop.

DO NOT ACCEPT ANY TRADE IF THEY'RE PAYING LESS THAN YOU DID.

Always buying flax.

1k and up : 95gp Each

Under 1k : 70gp Each

PM me in game or on forums, private is always on.

Only a 5-15k profit after sitting there for 30 minuntes yelling "Selling dds!11!one"? You're probably better off merchanting runes with 60k. There's a much better market for them.

hmmm , crafty not saying how much you are selling for, but what if they say "how much?" , do you just say offer?

Jaoxim, you just say Offer. If they say they dont offer, then simply dont trade.

To Paladin, as I said, you can do this with ANY item.

Always buying flax.

also rune pl8s are hard to sell at 65 - 70k

i like merching glories and obby shields but tht was before the rune def update. Prices changed so much after that tht it was too hard to get stable buying and selling prices

Then get your DDS's from world 2. :P

Try to sell it for more than you bought it for...

There are other merchanting methods, and if more people suggest others, I could add them.

Always buying flax.

I wouldn't call this quick cash :?

Here's how I made 3.2M ina week :o :

1: Had 350k to start with

2: WC'ed to 600k

3: Merchanted cannons (Bought 550k, sold 660k)

4: Merchanted flails (Bought for 1M, sold for 1.1M)

5: Merchanted D WC axe (Atm, bough 2M Sold to 2.1M)

6: Eventually had enough money for whip (Bought 3M, sold 3.1m)

Now those prices have changed #-o But I'm sure you could do it

Another way to merchant:

1: Buy Snapdragon seeds for 10k-12k each at a crowded bank

2: Get around 50-100

3: Sell for 22k each on forums (Not sure if prices have changed)

Hope this helps some ppl \'

wow something i can do for 30k an hour that is frustration thats quick cash in my book or i could pick flax and make 100k an houror buy rune from shop for 300k an hour and also rune pl8s sell for 55k in world 1 all rune items are cheap there

This guide is ok, but basicially for those under level 70 who are saving up for a zam plate or something. For some real money, just go to barrows or merchant phats or something.

:^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.

Classic bloodveld for lyph3! Although I do like the new ones.

Like a ninja, here I was, gone I am now.

BUT! I may be back! Add my new account, Dr Bloodveld!

i still think chewyshoe's guide to merchanting is way better

heh perhaps, i wonder though. This dds sheme is looking mighty promising. YOu must say "offer" u say?

DO NOT ACCEPT ANY TRADE IF THEY'RE PAYING LESS THAN YOU DID.

You shouldn't follow this rule 100%

If you did make a bad buy...say buy dds for 70k, you shouldn't live in the past and spend hours trying to re-sell it for 70k... Just sell it for 60k and move on

Support my quest for 1600 Skill Total!

After you got around 300k start merchanting Black Mystic sets

Top - 100k

Bottom - 80k

Boots - 30k

Gloves - 20k

Hat - 40k

Sellin for 600k, 330k profite.

I acually find it easier to find a mass seller of 20+ daggers at a time. That way, you don't have to spend wastless time buying it over and over again.

And that anyone that has enough money to do so doesn't really care for tips on how to merchant?...
