I hated the simplicity of ranging, so this update is wonderful for me. And Lunar might not be all combat based, but what did rangers get while mages got the super powerful ancients? Ogre bow? I rest my case, all classes have their turn.

 

 

 

I agree 100% , mages got ancients and rangers got nothing. barrows came out , melee get 3 different sets (all very useful) , mages get ahrims (very useful) , and rangers got karils!? what is that karils gives the same if not worse bonuses then d-hide. then mages get yet another update with the infinity and mage training area...what did rangers get...Nothing. Im very pleased with this update , its about time rangers get an update thats useful :)

I'm not a ranger (i hate training it) but I think that this update's good fun. I might start training range again because the specs make it interesting now.

i didnt really like this update cuz it made ranging so much more complex. Maging was supposed to have the complexity and ranging was supposed to be simple. When i saw a crossbow update in the behind the scenes july, i thought it would just be an alternative not something that could eliminate classic bow ranging. I like the new crossbows however, but i fear the bolts are too complex.

 

 

 

If you find this too complex i'm afraid you have a problem. Yes, you have to read and understand some thing first. But once you got that, its easy.

 

Just go and make/buy your bow and bolts (its all explained how to do it, yes, this is a bit complicated, but its just preparing work. In the acutal battle its easy). Then fire them, and hope you get a special effect. Hard? NO.

 

 

 

So recap: buy/make your gear, equip it and shoot. No clicking spells, clicking prayer, charging, running away, just equip the gear and SHOOT (and hope you get a special effect).

 

 

 

On another note: wasnt it that you get your arrows back after a duel fight? This way fighting with onyx or dragonstone bolts wouldnt be a problem.

Ever considered that you can now fight slayer monsters that require a elemental shield by using proper ranged. The crossbow is still far more powerfull then throwing knifes. You have to admit this!

 

 

 

And also, you can slay dragons now with ranged without risking your bottom burned to ashes. Also bolts are quite cheap. Did I say quite? I mean VERY cheap. A rune crossbow with basic bolts from the shop isn't all that bad. It still gives nice hits to my opinion.

 

 

 

Also, the effects are great. Random, even considered rare by some, but they are strong! It is like having barrows armour. The effect is random, but great! And we aren't whining about barrows are we? :

The special for opal (e) looks like the lightning that strikes in the killerwatt dimension. Me (lv.60 range) can hit 15's with, whereas with my mage short my max hit is 8. I am a all attack hybrid, so my view is: GO LUNAR MAGIC. GO CROSSBOWS. All we need now is a battleaxe which fires enchanted bolts that bake pies for you.

No we need 500 new inventory spaces with food that gives ur hp full every time u eat it , if we wanna survive from this one, this update was stupid even if i have had 99 ranged over a year now, how about they would make bow that hits like a whip and 12421x faster than whip??, or more powerful melee weapon than whip? , i think this game was ruined when whips game out :P seriously

This update sucks for the sole reason that the effects are so incredibly rare.

 

 

 

Here's the knock-down effect. Vs Npcs like Nazgul has shown, it only drops rocks and nothing else happens...in pvp they person is only unable to attack for 1.5 seconds or so :roll:

This update is trash. Ranging was fun because it was so simple. Custimization is for mages. Ranging is simple. Fighting is exciting and unpredictable.

 

 

 

now jagex, stop changing it. It should always be:

 

 

 

Warriors: Unpredictable and costly, average

 

Rangers: Predictable and cheap, simple

 

Mages: Specialized and expensive, complex

 

 

 

With the new updates like barrows gloves, defenders, and lunar magics...

 

 

 

Warriors: Simple

 

Rangers: Expensive, Specialized, complex, unpredictable, simple when used correctly

 

Mages: Specialized, costly.

 

 

 

It used to be where you targeted the warriors first, and mages were in cheap robes and rangers wore dainty outfits.

 

 

 

Thanks to the new update, it is useless to kill a ranger. The only thing you get out of it is dragonhide, and MAYBE a crossbow worth 60k. Oh goodie, i just used a super set and 15 sharks for this. And if they protect the crossbow, you just wasted food for another set of dragonhide, because they don't drop ammo or gloves and usually not cape.

 

 

 

Now everyone targets mages and warriors, because at least they drop their ammo and their robs are more expensive. This is such a lame update...

 

 

 

And yes, I am complaining because I am not a ranger. I'm sure, if I were a ranger, that I would be dancing. But you know what? Its UNFAIR that mages got such a junk update like lunar magic that is useful for NOTHING but farming. Now we get rangers who drop nothing in the wildy and who just kill everyone at staking.

 

 

 

And warriors, go you. Now you can kill mages with a simple dagger.

 

 

 

Jagex officially ruined the wildy with this one... it was already ruined, but this sent it over the edge. Edgeville, I should say.

 

 

 

Go tell that to the billion of "OMG RANGE UNDERPOWER NUBS! WE NEED UPDATES!" people on official RS forums. Those fruitcakes need to stop acting so spoiled.

The x-bows themselves are fun to play around with, but have no practical PVP uses as they're slow as hell. Who cares if you they can hit 40's? The powe isn't enough to make up for the loss of speed. The bolts themselves, while they have some nifty specials, occur far too randomly to make them feasible.

 

 

 

All in all, it's a rather useless update as far as PVP is concerned.

They use melee the most, so you're wrong for a start. 60% of pkers are meleers

This update is horrible. I have 99 range and it's a waste of money to make anyone of those bolts cause of the speed.

 

 

 

They hit so slow.. I've had 150+ Dragon Bolts and am now down to 30 or so (picking them up) and I've hit the special about 5 times.

Do you have any idea how drastically that would cut down the population of Runescape? Even the most crowded of worlds will become near empty!

 

 

 

So, we can assume that these Crossbows have a few special uses, but otherwise aren't great in PVP (though I love using Prayer draining Sapphire bolts with smite in CW, eat that Prayer Noobs!).
