Hobby's Great Trade-Up! Trading: Pink Floyd and RHCP CD's!

Hobby's Great Trade-Up!

Currently trading: Pocket Gameboy with Carry Case and Battery Pack

Here is the gist of it. I have a tube of unopened, mint condition Colgate toothpaste. So do 3 of my closest friends. We all have until February the 1st to trade it up for something of as high a value as possible.

The main emphasis is on relative value - which is more valuable to a man dying of thrist in the desert, $1,000,000, or a glass of water?

So, I am keeping a record of everything that I trade here, and am also looking to conduct trades here too. If you have something which you would like to trade for a 50ml tube of Colgate Total toothpaste, please post your offer on this thread below, and I'll get back to you. I am willing to send the tube by post, to anywhere in the world, as long as you are willing to send me an item in return. If you want, I will even send you an SAE back to me, so that you don't even have to pay postage!

What have you got to lose!?

Please only post your offer below, not any personal details.

The Goods so far:

Step 1:

200.jpg

One unopened tube of Colgate Total toothpaste, mint condition (arf!), perfect for maintaining that glistening smile, full of minty freshness!

Step 2:

dscn1217iu2.jpg

An almost mint condition book, entitled 'The Science of Harry Potter'. It i about how the magic in Harry Potter could feasably be explained, in real life, using real Physics, Chemistry and Biology methods and theories. For example, how a broomstick could actually be made to fly, using reverse polarity diamagnetism. It sounds complicated, but it is all very well explained. To a Science nerd like myself, this is a fantastic book! Written by Roger Highfield, it is excellently written, and very well researched. A very interesting read!

Step 3:

kaiserchiefs.jpg

The Kaiser Chiefs' Album, Employment. Again, this is in mint condition. Classic Kaiser's songs such as 'I Predict a Riot', 'Modern Way' and 'Every Day I Love You Less and Less' are from this album, there are some awesome songs on it. Not a scratch to be seen on the disc, and it still has the insert booklet bit, with all the words on it. I immediately knew who to trade this with: a real life friend who is nuts about the Kaiser Chiefs, and is also gutted that she has just managed to snap her 3rd copy of this album! The first one she bought she lost, the second one was so scratched in the end it wouldn't work, she snappedthe 3rd one, and so was going to go and buy a fourth copy, until I offered it to her! Incidentally, I saw the Kaiser Chiefs live last weekend at the Reading festival and they were absolutely amazing! (Just had to throw that in somewhere  ) Anyhows, scroll down to see what Katie traded for the CD...

Step 4

dscn1240jm9.jpg

Katie traded me the above pack for the Kaiser Chiefs CD. It is a Game Boy Pocket, with a carry case and additional battery pack (no charger). It will come fully packaged, and containing fresh batteries. In near perfect condition, no damage at all. The battery pack needs a charger, but I will carge it up before I send it off. The carry case has a strap, handle, and space inside enough to hold the game-boy and around 6-8 other games. What am I bid?

Step 5

dscn1291tp8.jpg

I now have 2 CD's! After a long stale-mate, not beoing able to shift the game-boy, 'Clintonsanoob' has traded me these 2 CD's for the Gameboy. One of them is a sealed and still priced copy of Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd. This is an American copy, so it is still priced in dollars. Any Pink Floyd fans out there will surely know that this album contains some absolutely awesome tracks, such as Breathe, The Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Us and Them, and Time. Arguably Pink Floyd's best album of all time, this is a must-have for any true Pink Floyd fan.

The second CD is Stadium Arcadium by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Whilst this is not still wrapped, it contains the CD case with the insert, and both CD's. Dani California and Snow, RHCP's latest 2 singles to be released both come from this album. It is their newest album out, it has 28 tracks and is an absolute cracker.

I would rather keep these 2 CD's together, but if your offer is good enough I will split them if you wish.

Who will trade it with me!?

Apparently I ought to credit this to this guy. =D>

This has infact been done to a similar extent, and I wish to see how this turns out. A man started out with a red paper clip, and he wanted to keep tradeing it until he managed a house. He ended up getting so famous through this with bigger and bigger trades that the city that heard about this bought this man a house. he still makes payments on the land and such, but it was a great story all the same.

^Yeah, it's been done. And that might make it hard. But good luck anyway, I look forward to seeing your progress. :D

wow, something completly new that i have never heard of before!

if you are trying to trade it on here, that would probably require you to ship it. starting with colgate toothpaste, shipping will probably cost around 3 times as much as the actual item.

Yeah, I'm interested how this turns out too :D

To be honest, I don't really have any desire for a thing of toothpaste... but I wish you luck nevertheless :D

Everybody hug and spread the love :D

I'll trade you a toothbrush, thus negating both our trades and making us idiots! :D

He is from my little town :D He has sold the rights of his story to a movie studio, and a book one I believe. Pretty incredible idea if you ask me.

Good luck with yours though.

Yea, you ought to credit the idea to the red paper clip guy. The link is:

Gl with yours though. I would be willing to trade if only I didn't have to give out personal details and take the time to ship my item to wherever you are =D.

I have an unopened copy of Kung Pow Enter The Fist, VHS mind you not DVD. I could possibly be interested in it, just the shipping might set me back a little bit and i am a little bit broke :P. Let me think about it and see if i can get a loan.

Really? Dang! Damn my mate who said that it was original! Hmm, sounds like he knows something I don't....

Anyhoos, that may cause me some problems. However, To those who have mentioned postage and packaging, I have already said that I would be willing to pay any expenses on your part (that was part of the competition rules), so it wouldn't cost you a thing.

Arcticrunite, that wld be good. Let me know if you would be definitely willing to trade it and I'll get back to you :P

I am a TRAITOR!!!

Sorry, I may pm Monkeymike (he did ask whether he could trade the other books!) and give him the details of the books...

But first I'd like to know why you call him the scum of the universe? :-k :-k

Issy. :-#

  • Author

Lol, seriously, you have to know him to know why! It's just something about his persona...

I swear he must be the spawn of satan too, because he seems invincible! I managed to (accidentaly) throw him in front of a double decker bus in year 8, and he didn't get hit somehow. He has managed to run off a cliff and survive.

Buthey, what am I saying?! If you honestly want to trade him, do so, but you have been warned!
