nothing says i love you more than nice shiny jewelry \'

I hope you're quoting a jewelry commercial. Because otherwise you've officially been brainwashed by capitalism.

why do you say that?

Because it means you are depressingly shallow.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

Thanks for all of the flames guys... wasn't this a great idea of a topic, didn't think everyone would react like this <.<

lol with you on that

and deloria, its more that i dont really care, because i have a different opinion from them, the only difference is that im not flaming them for their opinion. but maybe i should add that jewelry is more symbolic than anything, for example, some people buy certain jewelry with a certain gem, because maybe it's someone that care's birthstone for one example.... the truth is jewelry can mean different things to different people. and maybe buying a certain piece of jewelry would be special to the person they bought it for.

How about showing your love by spending time with the person or buying something original?

I hate jewelry/flowers as presents; it shows you haven't got any inspiration, you don't care to think what might a better gift and you're obviously confusing money with love. I prefer a funny 3$ thing that's something personal, something that required effort and thought and that actually means something.

lmao that was so sarcastically funny!

And you know what? HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! It's called opinions not flames. If you cant accept the fact that people disagree with you, then get of these forums because not everyone thinks the way you do. Why does the price matter? You cant place value on love. Should a person love you any less if they cant afford to give you some metal? Even if you do have the money, there are better things to spend it on than fancy jewels.

Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07

Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!

i dont know where you live, im guessing in an upper class neighborhood because no one, i mean no one around here leaves their kids 200k when they die. most of the time whats left is just enough to cover funeral cost.

also, jewelry is pretty much pointless. diamonds are the biggest rip off ever, they arent nearly as uncommon as they are said to be. they probably end up being worth about as much as a fake one.

and so far no one has flamed you, they just disagreed. it happens a lot of forums. flaming does too, but youll know when that happens.

trust me if i had to give someone a ring they'd get a cheap 25 cent ring from a vending machine from your local diner ::' (yes im cheap)

but i would rather spend the money on something we need like that $40-$50 at a resturant. its romantic like the ring, but our feeble human bodies need food so that's way more important than a ring

I'll agree that using your money for jewellery when you don't have anything to eat is stupid.

But if you saved money, have an alright lifestyle, then go buy jewellery. Nothing stupid about that.

Women loving jewellery is an age old thing. Of course they like jewellery. Of course it's alright to give them jewellery. Why not? Some like them, some don't.

I've personally never given a jewellery as a gift to a special someone, but I am planning to. They mean something. They will last a lifetime and more.

thank you

I think of it like this:

If you can spend $30-$50 on a meal that lasts but one hour or so, why can't you spend a few thousand dollars on something such as jewelry that lasts for your life? Why do so many men cheap out on their wives, i mean, i think you can spend a few thousand dollars on her since most people die with like 200k+ in their bank, which is just handed to their children and then they dont even use it, and it just keeps getting passed down, so why not use your money while you have it? people are constantly trying to save when no matter what they always seem to come to an end with more than they need.

Sorry, this is off-topic you cant talk about Runescape money on here, oh wait you mean most real people die with around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã/$200,000 in their bank accounts? Somehow I doubt that. :^o

Anyway, in my opinion there are far more important things to spend " few thousand dollars" on rather than a tatty bit of jewlery. Its not like you can really do anything with jewlery, it has no function other than to look nice. Plus after the initial thrill of owning a well over-priced bit of jewlery, most people pay very little attention and have little care for their jewlry anyway.

Im not in any way saying that people shouldnt buy jewlery at all, my point is that theres no point in paying extortionate ammounts for jewlery when it can be better spent.

Edit - Plus any woman who was so vain as to be bothered by the price of the jewlery I buy her isnt the sort of woman Id want to be with. The price is irrelevant, she should be damn happy I bothered to buy here anything at all! :D

Your right.

It's still be nice to get a piece of jewlery or a present once in a while from someone special someone as a show of their feelings towards you, but you shouldnt base a relationship on material possesions.

Like Shadowfax said, jewelry is a great gift and there is nothing wrong with buying it.

Exactly. Then again, majority here would spend as much on game consoles, computer parts, or cars.
