No, they still are very bad, they're too slow. Even if you hit a 40 with it, I can hit two 22s easily during the reload period of a single crossbow shot.

They sound good for messing around with friends/pking/dueling. But I never thought about using em on higher level monsters.

i would defenently use the c'bows more if the range bonus was halfway decent :?

I sat out near the Chaos Elemental with ruby bolts (e) and went through an ENTIRE INVENTORY of sharks without ever hitting with the special. Same thing happened with Emerald (e).

Hmm. When I took it to the KBD, it usually hit 3-4 times per kill. :-k

It all depends on your luck, I tried it on KBD with my clan and it usually happened once per kill, and the bolts are so bad anyway I never got any of the kills. If you want a good damage comparison, at 99 range with my clan I almost always get the kills, with the enchanted ruby bolts, I got no kill at all. Even if it makes for spectacular damages if you're lucky, they're too poor otherwise.

Oh, and Karil's Crossbow doesn't accept the new bolts, Karil's bow has too much taste :P

It's more like a shot.

 

 

 

Here's the math: You can buy onyx bolt tips at 1500 tokkull each.

 

 

 

300k tokkul is about 3m on the chaos to tokkul exchange rate for chaos bought from the mage guild store (world hopping).

 

 

 

 

 

300k/1500=200. You'd get 200 tips for 3m gp or so.

 

 

 

3m divided by 200 is 15k gp per tip.

 

 

 

15k per tip + 1.5k per bolt + 15gp per feather comes to 16515 gp ber bolt.

 

 

 

So they arn't incredibly expensive, but they are definitely one of the most expensive ammo for ranged yet.

 

 

 

 

 

I wonder what they work like. If I had that kind of money to spare, I'd probubly take some to the duel arena.

I actually made 3 Onyx bolts... Bought the tips for 4.5k Tokkul. I'm not gonna shoot them though... :lol:

Karils X bow attacks faster and hits higher than regualr c'bow bolts. I used x bow for fight caves, so I should know that you can do it there. If you use an x bow at caves with a crossbow you will lose 2 inventory spaces because x bow + racks take up spots then the rune crossbow and the ruby bolts would take up 2 spots. Don't question me, I know what I am talking about.

what exactly do ruby bolts do ?

I like the new bolts, hated ranging before but its more fun now. even with the opal (e) bolts. lightning strike.

the special hits more often if you have better ranged atack bonus.

I think in general crossbows are over looked because with a rune crossbow and iron bolts I was hitting 13's with 80 range. Usually on rapid with MSB I'd only hit 10's. I wonder how I'd do with just the addy bolts and the spec would be a bonus to help it along.

 

 

 

Goodluck on hitting some more of those 48-50's and proving that they are indeed well worth the effort to make/buy and use them.

i just recently tried out some of these at greater demons for slayer and hit 2 specs in a row!! :shock: only a 14 and 17 but still...
