BWebb55
This is just a story I thought I would share with everyone, and something I think a lot of people need to learn. I would say that 65% of the people in Runescape are obsessed with having good items and having millions in cash. A lot of them are stubborn...don't usually respond to most players when they talk to them, keep private and public chat off. And I admit, I used to be like one of those people. A lot of the time, I would care about nothing but making money, and have Public Chat off most of the time. Then I took a month off from Runescape, because I wanted to try some other on-line games. And of course, like most people, I did come back to Runescape, but with a different mindset. I didn't care about having riches, or having the best items...I just wanted to sit back and enjoy the game. So I turned Public Chat on, and started playing again. And I was amazed how much more I enjoyed the game.... I mean, I never realized how much I like leveling skills like Fishing and Crafting. But most of all, I never realized the amazing people you can meet... For example, I was fishing (still am lol) lobbies at the Fishing Guild until 76 a couple days ago, and I met these two brothers that live in Portugal, and we talked for around half an hour before they both had to go. I admit, it was really interesting. I mean, we talked about a lot of stuff...I never realized how different the life of a 15 year old in Portugal is from me, a 15 year old in Arizona. The moral of my story is...sometimes the most precious thing isn't pixels...It's meeting people from around the world, and just enjoying the game. Don't free Durial. Put this in your sig if you believe in justice.
Riku3220
if peole would just keep their public chat on and actually talk while mining, fishing, woodcut then they'll know how fun it is so you can have fun while making money
FrankyBrown
I never have public chat off and I don't know how people can play with it off :? I always talk to people, I'm in the fishing guild most of my time and I'm only 85 fish when I could be 99 but I spend too much time talking and having fun with people in the guild :D
gtacrackhead
I started playing again because alot of things opened up to me in the runescape world. I know so much in the game now. Even the things like merchanting and stuff.

jaskkes
Thats a great story. And thats what I think makes runescape so great. If you scratch away from the scammers and bots (most of these are just 12 year olds anyway) there are lots of great people online that you can meet. I remember meeting a really nice person on another online game (Counter Strike). He was really nice and said that he lived in Australia just like I did. We were talking and before I knew it, I actually found him to be really down to earth, and now we continue that relationship on runescape. Its really great to meet people with funky things like ^_^ and =D when they put them in their messages :)

ITIessi
Nice story, changes the way people can look at the gasme when you realise that you can have more friends and enjoy it! Returned to Runescape June 2011 after a 3 year break :)

Shyla
i do understand why some people turn their chats off when training, they don't want to be bothered. but really, talking to someone while training makes it less boring. i didn't even notice i already smelted 10k bars cos i had so much fun talking to someone. magikjandro
I NEVER put public chat off. I put it in hide when I'm merchanting in crowded worlds but nothing more. I always try to reply other people and, while training skills like woodcutting or fishing is the only way to have fun while I'm in the game. What I do sometimes is put private chat off if I'm in the forums or in other site because I don't want people to think that i don't want to answer them. Thx axeraider for the sig :D
zeekyhbomb
I always have public on, and normally private is on as well, just if I am doing something where I don't want to be annoyed, I have private on friends. Runecrafting through the Abyss which Is how I made most of my money is not the most excellent time to talk to people, either it's "Hi PK me" or "Hi, let's not get PKed." Mirror
Good thing you finally realized that! Man, I love talking to people, well when I am in the mood. What makes this not a pixel hugging game is hanging out with people on my friends list. I may say that over and over again but its the truth. I went mole hunting recently with someone and it is very fun, even though I have to run everywhere. Thats not the point, the point is to not hug the pixels but the friends you make on this game. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.
alleylee
yeah... well, i've been playing rs since the time that you can pk in normal areas, and the bank only held money (yes, i'm about that old...) and i completely agree with you guys.. i loved rs because of the people you can interact with. i used to enjoy mining a lot... and most of my friends i met at the mines... but because of school and all, i started to quit... i came back once and a while to check up on my accounts... but really, i can't find any of my friends anymore.. i had this really good friend but i doubt if he plays anymore.. that was about 3 years ago... at least... well, i recently got hacked, but i don't care really. i liked rs before because they encouraged people to work on their skills instead of caring about money (because banks held only money, so if you died, you lost all your equipments...), but now i don't know what has gotten into jagex... the game completely changed. i keep my pm to friends because i don't want pkers world jumping with me... but i always keep my chats on. people are funny to talk to, especially when we bash out those autoers. i'm probably more deprived than all you people who posted so far because there is no way of me going into p2p, and most of my friends either jumped there or quit. so right now, i'm going solo, but it's dull. i know it does waste some time when i'm training (like i'm mining coal right now), but it's part of a game. really, i liked rs once, but jagex ruined it for me, so what's bringing me back is just fooling around with other people in the world. Stilev
rofl i dont think any more then 10% people keep there friends and public both off for a long time and im 100% that 65% is incorrect lol, but alot of people do care about money and skills on a personal note i generally responsed to public chat and pm's but i keep pm on friends only becasue there are so many people that are ganna bug me about stuff plus just keep the annonying "i will make you a mod if you tell me your pass" kinna scam
zombieed1
public chat never off im alaways happy to talk to people and to be honest i neva have money coz thats nto what drives me if i got given a p-hat i wudnt keep it id sell it and spend it on my skills which i like doing coz of the people that are there i get talking which makes the hours pass by and before i kno it ive hit my goal, but i want to stay ther and keep chatting so i actually end up improving on what i was doing all because i had my public chat on :D
Role_Model
When my main got banned/hacked, I don't know the difference, I lost my friends list, and basically everything. Powman3
i totally agree, when i first entered the fishing guild, i made so many new friends, and still do. Huge Noob
I always keep my Public chat on. If I kept it off I wouldn't of met some of the really cool people over RS that I have become friends with outside the game. Unbrokenxero and Oddfaery2 both have my cell phone number and we talk on the phone a lot. If I kept my public off I wouldn't of met either of them, and they both are pretty cool guys. ;) I'm always on world 99 so if you see me don't be afraid to say hi or give me a HYT. :)
Gunnit7
I always have my chat on, and i am not selective upon combat levels of who i talk to, i have met some really nice nubehs. :D I have my private off though cause i have people who want to contact me fr the sole purpose of begging or flamming me. Pier pressure? I can just see you being threatened by a wharf or jetty because you're a teleporter. Yes, I can see a large wooden wharf uprooting itself from the shore, walking over to you and slapping you in the back of the head for teleporting.

Pinkbullet3
True. There are tons of people out there that just care about "being better than others", only so when they come up to someone lower in level than then, they can called them the "n to the -oob" word. 1. It's just a game for heaven's sake! 2. They're just pixels! If you're going to argue about who's richer, pull out the REAL cash! I have my private chat always on "friends" because too many n00bs contact me when they see me pass by them. "Phr33 st00f p10x!" "Omg mr 88 can i have somethin 4 free plz?" Jk. The sig says it all. Wow... :notalk: ^ Blog.
