August 21, 200619 yr LOTR movies are good, but somewhat overrated. Titanic is grossly overrated. X-Men (all), Spiderman (and 2), Pirates of the Caribbean all overrated. Pirates and Spiderman 1 are both pretty good, but still overrated.

August 21, 200619 yr I'd agree with everyone who claims that the LOTR films are over-rated and I'd add the Matrix trilogy as well because I feel they were all style and no content. LOTR I particularly dislike because all 3 films were just far too long and once you get over the special effects, (which I admit were great) you can only take so many "This is bla son of blabla from the kingdom of blablabla........." character introductions - that sort of thing had me looking for a window to jump out of :uhh: Its not hard to gather that I just dont like films that are sold solely on the fact that they have "groundbreaking special effects." As for under-rated films I'd have to say True Romance. I absolutely love this film, to me its like a 90's re-working of Bonnie & Clyde. I'd also say Mean Streets even though it's quite critically acclaimed, I'd don't know anyone in real life who has this film or even seen it. August 22, 200619 yr apocalypse now was a great movie. I agree with how2pk, pulp fiction is a tad overrated, its just rated for creativity.. rear window is hella overrated. sin city..FFS this movie was terrible, just because its terentino..and has some good efx..no plot, its crappy i guess. i will think of some more another underrated movie is enemy of the state.

August 22, 200619 yr sin city..* this movie was terrible, just because its terentino..and has some good efx..no plot, its crappy i guess. tarantino only did one scene in it. i dont see why you dont think it has a plot, i think it was pretty good how three seperate stories all correlate into the bigger picture. i would say this movie is underrated a little, most people would say "spiderman" or "x-men" when you ask what their favourite comic book movie is.
August 28, 200619 yr Sideways. Gosh, not to mention, who would even want to, let's say RENT a dvd about wine tasting? Unless you have some strange affection towards wines... Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead man's chest is very overrated. It's getting a lot of hype because it "breaks the billion dollar bar". People just like to see adventures with their friends and families and sadly because there is little competition (most "adventure" movies today are lame Scifi-effectfests like Aeonflux that get crushed by critics and prove half-baked Saturday night entertainment) in original, high-quality adventure movies. The movie itself is just that, entertainment. You'd rather drink a glass of salty water than watch the movie 3 times. The Shawshank Redemption is absolutely --under--rated.. No commercial bull*, no stupid characters, just makes you appreciate your freedom you take for granted. This movie has each and every right to claim the #2 spot on imdb.com's top 250 movies of all time. =D>
