u know for a sec their i thought u were gonna point out the fact that a smithin level beyond 60 is useless (because of dragon/barrows which are cheap enough expeicaly when compaired to the cost of 99 smith)

the higher ur prayer level the more prayer points u restore per prayer potion, i heard 99 prayer prayer potions restore 32 per dose

iv been playin over 3.5 years and i'd like to say that i still have plenty of things to do (1850ish skill t, can basicaly craft smith fletch cast ect everything in game)

 

 

 

my current goal is to do every mini game like champs of champs and cw gold arrmor

 

combat in itsself can keep a person in this game for quite a while

 

 

 

perfectin the your team allways wins a cw match is soemthin that takes forever to perfect and becomeing the best 1 man fight pitter in the game

 

 

 

after skills their is somethin left to do stock up on expensive gear and have fun usein it in mini games

 

 

 

that cw thing alone would take someone 2 months for the gold at least, then theirs the fact that u'll need a full set for ur self and the peice for ur home

It is going to be a while before anyone can REALLY run out of stuff to do, period. The editor needs to revisit things he's done before and help other players with the quests. Then he will see how much there is left to do. And if he hasn't done so, he should make a second account and play the game through AGAIN!!!

There are 2 reasons why I believe this is useless:

 

 

 

1)As said by many before, higher level armor isn't really an option because of just how strong the current armor/weapons are.

EXACTLY what he was doing before he bought his dragon armor. The only difference is that now he's doing it in dragon armor. If he found it boring before, odds are that he'd still find it boring after he gets his dragon stuff.

 

 

 

Same can be said about higher levelled amor. If you're getting bored of runescape now, that's not going to magically change just because you're doing it in new armor.

Once i got 52 prayer i felt no need to go higher... theres p pots if i need it to last longer

Nice article, well written, and agreed with. The only thing is, not many people with only lvl 60 can afford any piece of dragon armor. I'm level 90 and I can't afford any of it...ever.

maybe there should be a new type of armor that can only be worn by people with 70 prayer that gives a huge prayer bonus but doesnt give a bonus in anything else? although the VERY bad side to that is a guy who already has a long lasting prayer that lasts even longer would probably piss a lot of ppl off but who cares as long as the armor looks cool and gives me a lot of attention in f2p im good :thumbsup:

I completely agree. Us high lvls have nothing to look forward to really. It would be nice for some armour at lvl 80 or 90 or even 110 for that matter. With the prayers, getting a high lvl prayer means less worry about having enough prayer pots, not having a stressfull time wondering around for an alter and not having to say the evil chicken killed me because my prayer ran out. Some new high lvl range armour would be good too. :) Happy Runescaping!

just want to say that there is more to the game then just combat and magic, and if u are bord u can join a clan thats is wat most hige lvls do :D , and u can use barrow armor u ned 70 def to wear them

Hey there, now im not a regular on the tip it forums, but i just couldn't let this one slide by, i mean what has gotten into the editor.

 

 

 

For a start, i think most people here will agree smite is far more usefull than retribution, now you say that its only useful for pking? well, retribution is only usefull for castlewars and pest control? and even then it only does 10 damage, which really is not going to help at all, the prayer would have been much better spent using redemption to heal urself and do some decent damage with the extra health, so there are useful prayers up to level 52!

 

 

 

Also on the subject of prayers, the abillity for your prayer to last longer is i think far more useful than running fast for longer, in the comparing you did with agility. Ok its true, prayer only helps combat, and running for longer helps a whole number of skills. (although not all) but generally, 15% boost in combat is going to make more difference than being able to run for a few more seconds when banking =/. Also on the subject of defence, excuse me editor, what game are you playing? Dragon is merely a fashion item nowadays in runescape, the added defence is a bonus, if you had cared to look more closely at runescape you may have discovered barrows, which require level 70... And also, the fact that there are no new armour or weapons after that, well yes i can agree we could do with a few more weapons, but isn't the whole point of combat skills to make you fight better? to bring your stats up? the weapons and armour are just an added bonus, the point of it is the stats, i think you may have got that the wrong way round.

 

 

 

And about this "plateau" you're talking about, after you have all the armour weapons and done all the quests, well, i don't know what you think, but combat is only 7 of 22 skills in runescape, if you have "conquered ancient and lunar magiks," try conquering woodcutting? or fishing? or mining? etc.. the list goes on, thats the point of an rpg, its not about having all the items as you have said in your article, its about the levels.

 

 

 

Ok the ultimate argument, say you are zezima? you are 99 everything?

 

you have all the armours the weapons you've done all the quests? whats left! Well you've forgotten one thing, runescape is a GAME! go have fun! play castlewars, go pking, hang out with friends, enjoy yourself, runescape is not some task we are put through, it's designed for people to enjoy playing it and have fun with friends, i think in writing your article you may have forgotten that somewhere along the line.

Compared to other games of the same genre the weapon and armour range in runescape is pitiful.

 

 

 

Another thing, the ability to combine armour and certain runes when you are a certain level of...some thing. You know, you could have a fire dragon long or and astral rune plate. It would increase certain stats of that piece of weapon/armour and you'd have to be a certain level to wear it.

I can't help noticing that you seem to have completely overlooked barrows, and the quite recent introduction of a few level 300+ monsters; activities which thousands strive to partake in, and continue to partake in, even after they loot their first Dragon hatchet, or after they've fully assembled their chosen barrows set.

 

 

 

I've always found that Runescape is a game that can be played in the user's own way; I raise my stats so I can do activity A, with player B, or even look good in front of players C, D and E. I feel no need to do anything I don't want to.

 

 

 

Runescape, to me, has never been about chasing goals and stopping afterwards. There's just too much scope for that, so much more to do. Your article reads as if you play the game only to do what JAGeX "tells" you to, rather than spending time talking to friends, struggling with the economy, or just finding new ways to annoy autoers...

 

 

 

Another thing; I've started losing interest in these "articles". They're losing their direction, and they don't seem to be tackling any real issues any more.

and with whip, u cant train only str, cmon! we need a weapon for that. ther giving us these updates with bows. i got 30 to 70 range, i didnt use those crossbows at all.

 

 

 

dragon armor is overpowerd. barrows are to cheap. like i dont know how many sets of guthans i can buy (actually 5) and i'M lvl 88! like imagine a lvl 80 with guthans, considering more ppl think its the best armor in the game (not torags) torags is cheaper, barely any1 likes it.

Right well, for a start, yeah we do need a weapon to train str with at the same decency as a whip, but overall, thats the only decent comment you made? and if you'd care to even look at the firemaking guide before you commented, you would know that the top log to burn is actually at level 80... About mining, 85 mining is one of the best ways to make cash in the game, how about you go flaming about how pointless it is after you have it and know that its actually worthwhile, if you don't wanna train thats great... why on earth are u asking for more high level stuff then?

This is simply hillarious. I'm at 85 mining and I can honestly say it makes better money then merchanting (at least in f2p)

 

As for the other "useless" skils, what purpose does anything you do in runescape serve? I know someone currently levelling their firemaking, simply because he wants a high total level. Nothing wrong with that now is there?

Tin Copper Bluerite Iron Mithril Adamantite Runeite. Most people can't even mine all the ores we have (note that other things you mine are not ores)

Dragon is a sign of wealth, not a combat armor.

 

I seriously doubt that you own people with dragon because people don't pk in dragon. And why do rangers and mages need lvl 85 armor? You're already getting a boost at lvl 85 and it comes from your level.

Hmmm...see, the thing is, there were people with 99 attack and strength BEFORE the whip came out. You don't NEED a whip to train your strength. You can just use a d hally/scimmy/any other freaking weapon/your bare hands to train your strength.

Barrows is not too cheap when you consider repair costs. Also, I'd like to point out that LOTS of people do barrows runs. If too many of a good get into the market, it's value goes down.

 

Dragon is not overpowered, as it's not even as good as barrows and it's many times harder to get.

However, we have PLENTY of prayers, and levelliung it more can make a HUGE difference in combat.

Maybe I was a little over-critical, because I did actually enjoy reading it. I think the problem here, as with every form of media, is compromise. Maybe the editor, whoever he/she may be hasn't had one of those "rant-inducing moments", but because a select part of the audience demands weekly updates, He (editor) feels he must release an article.

well yes it's fair enough saying its an opinion, but then again, an upinion that is reveiwed in an article is always up for criticism, i mean you cannot publish something and then say people shouldn't have disagreed? it's only natural and what should be expected. And also its all fine and good having an opinion, but saying dragon is better than barrows or something silly like that, that is where it switches from opinion to fact, and fact is not up for debate. In simple terms, it's like me publishing that 3*4=52, i'd be called a moron right?

That is a fantastic idea I really hope jagex does this too.

great article as always, and i would have to whole heartedly agree. the only reason i level most of my skills is for total level anymore, this being the ones that i actually think matter (which is why i'm only 1330 total). but new armor, prayer and wepons for those who are at a higher level would really make it worth paying that 5 dollars a month. i mean, at some points i have found it more entertaining to hang out at varrok wall in free worlds than doing things in members. so yea, good article, and i hope the take notice of it eventually. keep up the good work, oh, and i hope you enjoyed your vacation!
