A very well written article. Runescape really has neglected to further please it's veterans. People have nothing to do! When something gets released, even a new stat, people get it extremely fast. I have only been around for two releases, farming and construction. People got 99 in both stats within one week of release! Even as a fairly new mid level player I often find myself extremely bored. 92 combat has it's thrills, but when it all comes down to it I have 109 quests, 22 skills, and a few minigames to keep me playing.

Why carry on playing? Well, if you're like me it'll be simply to keep in touch with the friends you've made in-game.

I think this is the main reason we play is for the friends we have made. Some people play to get a party hat or what not, but what's the use if you have no friends to show it to?

=D> Well Done, Mr. Editor! =D>

Since when has tip.it times stopped being articles and morphed into a blog?

I mean, nicely written and all, but it's way too bloggish. It's not tackling an issue that concerns all and in no way does it invite others into it. It's just "The Ed thinks this, Ed thinks that".

Sorry, but this is what I'd politely call "A filler" :|

Well put, been a lot like that recently

I think that article is quite harsh on Jagex. Construction is hardly an old update - and surely it's still entertaining the majority of us, desperately dreaming of one day having one of those demonic throne thingies!

Also just a minor quibble with this section of the article: "However, you've probably been paying for the game for at least a couple of years, so Jagex has gotten a couple hundred of your hard-earned dollars. Why carry on playing?"

A couple is precisely equivalent to '2'. The games costs $5 a month or $60 a year. Playing for 2 (a couple of) years would therefore cost $120 which is NOT the same as a $200 (a couple of hundred) dollars. Call me pedantic :P

Can we please have another Duke Freedom article? Nobody writes them better IMO.

Its been said but worth repeating heart is not a clan, just pc group. Other than that its a ok read that I sort of agree with this one. high lvls run out of things to reach for. I know I have almost retired from the game due to it but friends talked me into staying. They are what I would miss most. not saying jagex owes it to us in any way but you would think would want us to have reasons not to leave the game. :wall:

I mostly agree with you too. But lately there hasn't been much news in runescape to really report, so it's not easy every week to come up with some thought provoking article.

Still, it's better to have a guest Tip it times article written about an actual topic than to have filler just about the editor's perspective listed on the new updates. I don't mind it, I just think for the tip it times the articles could be more interesting in general focused around one whole subject, not this new bloggish style.

This Tip.It Times Article wasn't that great. It's a rant if you ask me. Plus, Tip.It Time's articles, I think, should be about facts, not opinions. If you ask me, 9 out of 10 times it's all about the editor. What they think, what they want, etc.

Well normally it's about the updates, but lately the updates have been pretty small, so there wasn't much to write about, except the Editor's reactions to dull updates, so it felt kind of bland to us.

Been noticing for a while that the the editor of the tip.it times is writing a bit too much about 'nothing' when there are no significant updates. Can't blame the editor for that - when there's not much new to write about, there's not much new to write about. But I do agree with Adam that it would probably be better to have an article about a more 'general subject' written by either the editor or a guest author instead then.

Been trying to come up with an interesting topic for a while already - I'll see what I can do. :P

Hear hear! I totally agree. Although I'm not a high enough level to wear dragon yet, I do understand that at about level 70 or so in attack and defence you kind of get fed up with it. People with high level attack can get through you, and you can get through them.

I think the main problem with RS, though, is that now there are too many different types of armour, especially for melee. I now have a lot of trouble working out which armour is best. It was so much easier in the old days before dragon, although people were also lower in combat then too. Everyone - rangers, mages and melee - wore rune! They introduced dragon and better range and mage armour for that reason. This was a good idea. But the bad idea was making so many different types of armour that it gets confusing. It's much easier just to have a progression, where as you gain in levels you can wear better armour, as in the old system. It also means that your prowess as a warrior can be measured by what armour you wear - it becomes a status symbol. I know in the old days, all the best warriors wore rune. Good ol' RSC, eh?

I helped on the Black Knight's Fortress Quest Guide. Stop messaging me in game! All I did was say BKs are lvl 33, not 31!

All skills to level 30!

Why should it be about facts? Actually, the Tip.It Times article should be about whatever the EDITOR of the Tip.It Times wants it to be, bacause it's his (or her) forum. Also, it is presented as an EDITORIAL, which is, by definition, an OPINION piece. It helps to have one's opinions backed up by facts, of course, but to have just a fact sheet... Well, the Tip.It site is already full of those - skill guides, quest guides, gaming tips, etc. Frankly, I like the fact that we have an opportunity to express our opinions and discuss them.

So, instead of criticizing the article every week, why don't you open up your trusty word-processor program and write an article and submit it? You might be surprised and actually see your name on the byline. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant.

Sligo - didn't know tip.it was 'owned' by the editor of the tip.it times?

Nor is it there just for the editor to spread his opinion about whatever he wants. It's there to... Wait, just let me copy-paste.

Welcome to the Tip.It Times. This feature is an article that will address interesting and original issues, controversial topics and points of heated debate amongst the RuneScape community.

I think people should stop bashing the editor. You can't expect him to have a terrific article every week. He's had some good ones in the past, the minute there isn't a great one you all jump the gun and flame him. I think that's a bit petty considering the amount of trouble he goes to it's not like he gets paid to provide entertainment for us. I bet alot of you couldn't do what he does almost every week.

You're right that it's a great service and that the editor does a great job, but in no way are these people (most of them) bashing him/her. They're offering constructive criticism. We all love the tip it times and all the work put into it by the author, we're just stating opinions - not flaming or anything. I'm sure the editor prefers seeing a constructive criticism reply with actual content over a "yay great article i luvz you!" reply anyway. Nobody expects great tip it times every time, they're just saying that in the future basically they'd prefer something on one subject rather than a bloggish entry - but that only applies to weak updates by jagex weeks, because normally the editor's response to an update is entertaining, assuming the update is entertaining.

very well said u always have the best points how do u do it?

thx for the sig Runescape's fav cookie Oreo9870

I agree with everything in that article. (Except that Runescape gets boring, it doesn't to me lol)

Hopefully September keeps us all guessing and isn't just a filler update month, and hopefully the BTS reveals new high leveled items. :)

This article seems out-dated, the editor asked for lvl 70/ 80 defence armour, well it's been out for a while- barrows.

Only saw one mis-spelling-fairly

Other than that, a good enough read.

i agree with what he said ^

also theres the crystal shield <.<

Speaking of Pest Control, I need some pest control for my house, so many ants!!! But yes there are high levels, but there are a LOT more low levels and they'd probably make more money off those low levels who are more likely to be around longer.

Like forum text games much?

um... from... MARS, yes, in the third county from the... left.

I do agree that we need higher level prayers.

As f2p, i got my prayer over lv52, the requirement for highest lvl prayer. For members, it going to be even easier. They got better bones and ectofunctus and glided altar.

I do want higher lvl prayers, not neccessary to be f2p, i love having that goal of colouring up the prayer list \'

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

So how about it, Jagex? How about new armour and weapons classes for level 70 or 80 players?

70- Barrows armour, Mr. Editor  #-o

wildsig3.gif

I really like your ideas about the better armor...i see lvl 50+'s weilding dragon items... if they came out with a weapon for 80 and 90 attack then only the true RS players would be able to weild them and new armor for 80+ would be really cool... but they pretty much thought of everything to come out with... i'm sure they could have some armor named after a bird lol or a pit bull lol j/k but only as a quest or very rare high lvl monster drop i think that would be a great idea!!! keep them comin

I sadly agree with that :? All I saw was a bunch of stalling with basic 9th grade english skills just to say we need stuff for higher lvls...

So srry, article didn't catch me this time.

You sound different. Seems the vacationdid you some good. (<- is this proper english?) Welcome back =)

Tha article itself is pretty poor if i may say. Reads itself a little like: "Hey guys! Had a great vacation, it was just waay too short (Should have been about half a year.). Well back to buisness as usual :? )"

But oh well! that's okay.

About the last part: A new armor with higher requirements? That wouldn't change a thing imo. That would only be a temporary solution. What the game needs (in my humble opinion again) would be a new concept. a new thing you could do at a high levels. i think fight caves and pest control are basically the right direction, but it would need to be something more complex and much bigger.
