Sligo - didn't know tip.it was 'owned' by the editor of the tip.it times?

Nor is it there just for the editor to spread his opinion about whatever he wants. It's there to... Wait, just let me copy-paste.

Welcome to the Tip.It Times. This feature is an article that will address interesting and original issues, controversial topics and points of heated debate amongst the RuneScape community.

Er... You know what I mean. The "Editor" is responsible for the content of the material that is published. Therefor, whatever is published is what the editor wants to have published. Sure, the editor may have to answer to a higher power, but that higher power has obviously entrusted the editor to do his (or her) job. Otherwise, we'd see a new editor in a week or two.

As for me, I wouldn't want the job. You have to meet the demand of having a new article published each week. That means if you don't have adequate submissions from contributors, you gotta do it yourself. I highly doubt the editor here is getting paid, so he or she probably doesn't have a lot of time to sit down and write a thought-provoking, hard-hitting, perfect article every week.

So, if once in a while an article is published that doesn't meet Pulitzer standards, just understand that it's life and perhaps next week the article will be better. Or, perhaps you'll give the editor a week off and offer your own contribution up for public ridicule.

Those of you who normally enjoy Tip.It Times, yet criticize what you get, realize that your criticism may lead to the demise of the very thing you look forward to every week.

Enough soap-box rambling for me. I got some 'Scapin' to do.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant.

Quote from the Tip.It Times

The problem with prayer is actually a problem with the game as a whole at the moment. While the 3 newest skills, Slayer, Farming and Construction, which have items and tasks for players through level 85 or so included, almost all the other skills top out relatively early on.

Ok you gave credit for Slayer, Farming, Construction, Agility, and you stated smithing as well. But if I'm not mistaken.... Fletching, Crafting, Magic, Fishing, Smithing, Mining, Thieving and Cooking. 9 out of 22 doesn't seem like "almost all the other skills" to me. All the skills listed give something up to or past the 80's. It seems like you were using the lack of high level activities in some skills to justify the need for more combat items/skills.

For five dollars a month, you get four updates. That's new quests, skills, abilities. So when you hit the top, all you have to do is wait a bit, take a month or two off and come back to new and better things. There is something new to chase, every week. Even if it's only for a short amount of time.

Happiness is mandatory. Failure to be happy is treason. Treason is punishable by death. Have a nice day! :)

I couldnt agree any more, we really do need some higher level weapons and armour.. but cmon jagex hasnt even finished the dragon line, who knows when will get something better then dragon -.-

Last time I checked, the Barrows sets were better then dragon. The whip is a better weapon. I think a fully charged crystal shield is better then the dragon sq. Ya. That's all I have to say.

Happiness is mandatory. Failure to be happy is treason. Treason is punishable by death. Have a nice day! :)

No offense, but you're not a high level. The new updates, are always for low levels, a high level update would be a Quest which requires level 80 and 90 skills. Or armor that requires level 110 combat or 90 Defense.

Also, level 80s in skills, isn't high. They still need to go higher than that.

Well if the editor is talking about high level skills. And mentions the three with things to do up to around 85. I includedthe other skills with things to do around 85. Whats your definition of high level? What is the editors? There are a few quests with requirements in the 60's. That's high to a large chunk of people. I was basing my definition of "high level" off of the one the editor used in the article. No offense taken.

Also, as soon as I can't do anymore quests or make anything new with mi skills, I'll probably be right there with you guys, asking for more.

As a high level, do you feel your opinion is slightly biased? I mean, you want more stuff on the high level side, or endgame. But your opinion is moslty based on personal gain.

They give high level updates, the lower levels complain; they give low or mid level updates, the high levels complain. It's a win lose situation. Either way you spin it.

Jagex obviously can't appeal to everyone at once.

And I think they aim to appease the masses, the bigger piece of the pie. It would be interesting to see the total account count in level groups. And then judge the updates they give based on that.

What if Jagex made one of the four updates a month a high level update? Would that be enough?

Happiness is mandatory. Failure to be happy is treason. Treason is punishable by death. Have a nice day! :)

The one thing I wish people would realise is that how are Jagex going to release level 80+ armour and weapons? We'll be able to 2 hit each other

*Yawn* Nothing in there I couldn't have read on the RuneScape Suggestion/Rnts forums or a thread here. It began talking about the prayer update and then all of a sudden you were discussing about whether or not new armours/weapons should be implemented.

The one thing I wish people would realise is that how are Jagex going to release level 80+ armour and weapons? We'll be able to 2 hit each other

Yep, and the rich would get richer while the poor would get poorer.

How many runescape players does it take to change a lightbulb?

50.

1 to change the bulb and the other 49 to complain about how it was better before.

THE MODS THERE ARE COMPLETE AND UTTER IDIOTS!

So why are you here?

That is the problem with any high-level item releases, and I think Jagex knows this. :(

(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

to a certain point i have to agree with bubsa, but the article did contain some insight. many players have been waiting for a high level (80+ in a skill) armor or weapon for some time. to see that come would be a really awesome thing. and also, i think prayer is a very useful skill, especially for any decent warrior/ranger/mage. to say that having prayer above 49 isn't that big of a deal, to state that "higher prayer lasts longer. Big deal[,]" then right afterward stating that high level agility gives the "useful ability to run longer" is quite contradictory.

this makes me think that The Editor was just trying to think of things to write and forgot to check the quality of his article- signs of a filler.

yea you're totally right. new armor for like lvl 80 defence needed would be great. would be a lot gp's though #-o

the article looks like a rant

but i have to agree with him.

xp needed to wear

rune armor: 37k xp

dragon 273k xp

barrows +- 730k xp

ib these 730k xp we got 8 different armors (bronze, iron steel, mith, addy, rune, dragon, barrows)

after that there is 12.4M xp... with nothing

it would be cool if players with higher def/ att get rewarded with better armor/weapons

we worked hard to get that lvl

only problem it will bring,

the wildernis, whats next, a weapon that hits 40s -50s al the time??

for prayer, they are way to close to eachother

if between every prayer were 3-4 lvls it would be much better

--

The main problem is, when the game was created lvl 40 was high

after that they just have been adding new stuff

if they started the game with:

bronze lvl 1

iron 10

steel 20

black 30

mith 40

addy 50

rune 60

we would have got this problem

they would have added dragon as lvl 70

barrows at lvl 80...

but they will prolly never change it

the way jagex thinks: how faster new players got al the f2p lvls, how faster they get members, how more money jagex makes.

*Dragon armor is considred to be better than barrows armor.*

No it's not :-s

Well, this article...

I'm wondering if the Editor has ever pked or gave things a shot at Fight Caves, he won't find Prayer so useless then \'

To one of the posts before me, count in lvl, not in xp <.<

I'd like to finish with the words one of my pkleaders uses after trips

Comrade!

I poop on this

pm me to sell green d hides, perm buyer

I don't agree with this article. I have completed all quests...but that simply isn't enough. 52 Pray is simply not enough :uhh: .

I am going for 85 slayer. Just because I have over 52 prayer does not mean that I feel it's even close to good. I hate when people say "it's good enough".

As for coughing up $5.00 a month (I live in Canada so it's $7.30) ...I spend roughly $20.00 Canadian on daily basis when I go out with friends. \'

If members don't pay...how would the game go on??????

As for the 3 new skills, not many people are even ranked or above lvl 50? :?

Completed the game...? You have 200m exp in everything and ranked 1...don't think so :-X .

I have to disagree, because with better armours the combat system will be even more f'ed up.

gah!!! he is bumping after 1 minute, IT HAS TO BE A RHQER!!! KILL THE RHQER!!!

Lmfao

my 10 year old nephew plays grand theft auto and ive never seen him runover a prostitute in a stolen police car so i doubt little kids playing rs will go pickpocketing

To follow up on my comment, I'd like to ask the readers of the times whether they would prefer 1 very good, topic-specific article every 2 or 3 weeks or so, rather than the 'need', it seems, to supply an article every week?

It comes down to the old saying of "quantity vs. quality" and I know what I'd vote for.

Think he's %100 right bout the prayers i've always thot that. They put the protect prayers way too low when they first made this game, protect prayers make u near invincible its rediculus, should b like lvl 70-80 b4 u can use them, but changing them now would cause an up roar! I wud like to c the whole thing reshuffled personally and have pretty much the same prayers but thick skin lvl 1 and 3 lvls between each one, so smite ends up at lvl 72, then perhaps some other prayers beyond that at a later date. Even tho this would b a major disadvantage to me as i am lvl 49 prayer currently and can do almost all prayers currently, wud still love to c it in the game!

High level prayer owns, especially in Barrows or while fighting dragons. I always have to laugh at people that say they don't train prayer.

There are already high level armors : BARROWS.

As for weapons do we really need new weapons that do more damage than whip or the Great Axe?

What Jagex needs to do is stop with the silly mini-games and complete or continue some of the quest story lines.

Sorry but these arguments mean little to me. If the person has little time and/or cares about not being paid for it, then (s)he's not the right person to be the editor.

Anyway, generally the editor is doing a good job, so I'm not questioning whether (s)he's the right person to be the editor. What I (and others) do question is the use of the Tip.It Times for 'bloggish' articles when there's not much else to write about.

realize that your criticism may lead to the demise of the very thing you look forward to every week.

Constructive critism usually ensures improvement.

..and i agree.

I liked the article and agree that prayers need high level spicing-up.

However, for the integrity of the game - PLEASE, no more armour types!

I mean to say: in Middle English myth (as detailed by Tolkein) Adamantite is 'an imagined hard substance'. You must have seen LoTR and noticed how good a Mithril mail is. In RS, however, we have Rune, Dragon and Barrows (whatever are they made from?) armour, which are all better than these. On top of this we have granite and crystal waiting in the wings!

Instead of this, how about magical enchanting of armour to raise stats? Such an improvement would enable only higher level players to wear the best stuff and would remove the need to add yet more types.

Bottom line...good article...yes more high level prayers...no more armour...and YES - we ALL need something to aim at otherwise it's not a game, it's just hard work.

Blecca.png

Great Article! i agree 100% with ur suggestion, to get me motivated more to raise my levels like that...

Byaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

newbankofrsyq0.gif

I understand it takes a lot of effort to raise skills past 99. But, is it really that hard to raise Health a bit?
